  • 1. Soak the rice seeds in water for 24 to 48 hours to soften the seed coat and initiate the germination process. Change the water every 12 hours to prevent the seed from rotting.
    2. After soaking, drain the water from the seeds and place them in a seedling tray or shallow container filled with moist soil.
    3. Cover the tray or container with a transparent plastic sheet to create a greenhouse effect and maintain high humidity. This will promote faster germination.
    4. Keep the tray in a warm and well-lit area, but avoid direct sunlight as it can overheat the seeds. Maintain a temperature of around 26 to 32°C (79 to 90°F).
    5. Water the seedlings regularly to keep the soil moist but not waterlogged. The depth of water should be around 2 to 3 centimeters (0.8 to 1.2 inches).
    6. After about 7 to 10 days, the rice seedlings should start to emerge from the soil. At this point, remove the plastic sheet to prevent the seedlings from becoming leggy and weak.
    7. Continue to water the seedlings regularly, but reduce the water depth to about 1 to 2 centimeters (0.4 to 0.8 inches).
    8. Once the seedlings have grown to a height of around 15 centimeters (6 inches) and have developed a strong root system, they are ready to be transplanted into the main rice field. This usually takes about 30 to 45 days.
    9. Dig small holes in the rice field using a transplanter or by hand. Plant the seedlings in the holes, making sure the roots are well-covered with soil.
    10. Keep the field flooded with water to a depth of about 5 to 10 centimeters (2 to 4 inches) to support the growth of the rice crop.
Note: The specific requirements and techniques may vary depending on the rice variety and local growing conditions. It is always advisable to consult local experts or agricultural extension services for precise guidance.
