Many thanks, James. It doesn't get any easier to sort out what goes on in this piece, which is a further fine example of Max's considerable talents. It would be very interesting to see the manuscript. I think it's played entirely in the key of A flat and essentially has two strains - the main one being 32 bars in length, played at the start and used again as a basis for the solos by Craig and Barnabus. But there's also a Strain of 20 bars, first heard at 01:50 - 02:14, curiously featuring one note held for four bars at the end. And goodness knows what happens after Robin's solo. We seem to have a further 28 bars, possibly using motifs from both strains and again ending with a long held note (A flat). Help!
@@DanPurdy1 Don't expect too much, Dan! I'm only a self-taught amateur. Without a printed version of music I'm listening to, I often find it impenetrable.
Absolutely fantastic. Thank you so much for filming this wonderful tune. Max is an outstanding and hard working composer. All tunes are unique. I enjoy the tunes he wrote for Tuba Skinny. ( Magnolia Stroll, Mickey Strut, The Dog at the Levee, Last Minute Waltz and his new opus here) And I love his other style of Music too His brand new album is outstanding too Did you have recorded the last minute waltz by Max too Maybe at their dba set on April 25th? There are no videos of this tune on RUclips till now. Have a wonderful weekend. I stay tuned for more. Dave from Berlin Germany 👋
Merci, James, pour cet enregistrement (excellent, comme toujours)! Tout le groupe est parfait (en particulier Max au banjo)! Merci encore et toujours un grand bonjour depuis la Suisse!
Wow, not only another fantastic performance by TS but we also get to see Shay blowing kisses to friends of hers in the audience. Also got to hear an interview by Shay on youtube this morning. I hadn't heard her speaking before. What a lovely, gracious lady. And earlier on YT I saw an actual video of TS, with trains in it. How cool is that. Thanks for this video, James. Takes dedication and effort to film and post.
Many thanks for your posts James, I like each one of them. Let me ask if you have ever heard about the Sant Andreu Jazz Band (SAJB). I think that you will like them.
Happy music ... Bravo Tuba Skinny and specially Max ! Thank you James
Original!.Bravo. Got my Friday Tuba Skinny fix. Thanks so much.

Max is definitely multi talented. I checked my d.b.a recordings and don't see "Last Minute Waltz." I don't recall having ever heard it.
