Absolutely incredible! The way you made my story come alive with your narration and the background noises. I am a strong believer that stories are meant to be presented this way. I loved it! Keep up the good work!

He was never a brave man if he couldn't handle guns being in the house. Having to lock away a form of protection up in the attic because he was squeamish when only seeing them is far from being brave.

I found this story a bit confusing. It begins with that he as eldest grandson is worried about his granddad. Then it tells about how his granddad took him in and he raised him. And at the end of the story in the attic he refers to himself as an adolescent which means in my book a young man, not fully an adult. It doesn't make sense to me where he did come from to make sure his granddad was okay through the storm.
Your narration is great but the story is not logical.

Since the protagonist was essentially on his own since he was young, I think he was a little more self-sufficient than your typical teenager. I think he was living with his grandpa, but made the conscious decision to stay with him in the face of the approaching storm instead of evacuating.
I could be wrong, but that's how I read it.

      @@dark_night_tales that's how I understood it as well ❤

Hey thanks for pointing it out. I think the confusion is because I wrote the story awhile ago and then I went back and did a precursory revision. I changed a few things in it and could've been a bit more clear on that point. The kids dad dies, he bounces from couch to couch not having a place to stay, then he moves to his grandpa's where he graduates high school. After that he comes back as a young adult to help his grandpa who refuses to leave with a storm coming. Does that make sense now?
