What a gem of a series. Until an hour ago I ah no idea of its existence. Back in the early 1990's I was working all hours I could for a deposit on a flat. I am familiar with Rumpole which I enjoyed but this very good. Thank you for sharing.

I don't even remember this series. I really enjoyed it and a lovely cameo from the wonderful Alfred Burke.

Thanks for this Major D! I still don't know how, but I completely missed this programme when it was aired. The lovely Jan, plus the bonus of the wonderful Richard Wilson. Great stuff! Cheers.

@@majordolbyscat I am very grateful. I saw some -- I don't think all -- of this series when it was first aired, and have been looking for it ever since. Look forward to you continuing to feed the beast!
From the same era, there was a wonderful Aussie series called Embassy -- again, saw some, not enough. Any chance?

Superb acting & quality story aside, I've an admiration for forgers of beautiful art, they are still artisans regardless of their reputation. What is worse is a fake painting, or a rogue art dealer, who knowingly takes thousands/ millions for a painting when they know full well the provenance of the painting. Caveat emptor is the maxim that should never be overlooked, when handing over hard earned money.
