  • This is the teardown of the LGT NO.071 or OB-1 Sabers Starkiller replica saber. I found this to be a very high quality hilt for a budget end lightsaber and with the Xenopixel electronics core installed, this is a collectors dream saber to have.
It is a more complicated build than what we have seen before having more parts and it not recommended for beginner enthusiasts to try to take apart unless you are very confident in your ability to reassemble it.
The crystal chamber is a great addition and looks amazing. The detail is top notch and the crystal lights in sync with the blade.
A must have in any collection.

How do you prevent the battery from draining when the saber is sitting idle for a few weeks? Is there a kill switch?

Hi, thanks for the comment! Some manufacturers install a kill switch but LGT or TXQ currently do not as of yet. It is something I hope to press them about in the future. Otherwise the only option is to remove the battery when not in use but that has its own cons - not losing the battery, dismantling the hilt every time... Would be easier to charge it up before use if you know when you plan to use it but that's not always the plan either. Really hoping to come up with a better solution soon.

@@Domhain99 Thanks for the detailed response! I greatly appreciate it. That’s unfortunate that LGT and TXQ haven’t devised a simple solution. The problem does exasperate itself as you grow a decent collection. I prefer to keep the battery in the hilts because of the added weight when you handle the saber.

@@gregdsmusiccaptures1578 Agreed! The technology is growing at a very rapid pace. I've seen a few changes in the past year alone. Hopefully they'll address this and other options as well!

@martinmuller2536 there should be. You have the LGT hilt fixing shouldn't be too difficult. If you can send me pictures of the hilt and broken parts to info.ob1sabers@gmail.com I can figure out what you need.

So I checked with LGT, they figure the crystal can be replaced. I see a new video coming in the near future...

Hey I actually have two of them I got from two different sites the first one works good but I can’t remove the screw that holds the blade because the screw itself is all scratched up in the inside but I was wondering if you can help me swap the cores and install the core on my new starkiller saber.

I can sure help where I can Dom. Were you thinking of sending the hilt to me?

I gotta switch mine out because mine came with a weird glitch we can’t seem to get rid of. The blaster goes off once after every ignition no matter which setting you have it on. So the company sent me the internals to swap out saying it’s “easy”. Lol. I’m terrified.

Oy! That will be a fun project. I will offer to help and do the swap for you at no charge if you want to cover the shipping here and back. I can do a video on the project for my channel. 😁

Is it possible that you sell this exact core separately? Mine broke after a couple years lol.

Is there any easy way to remove the crystal? I’m not a fan of the one that comes with the hilt at all; it looks very fake and plasticy. I’d love to swap it out for a quartz crystal if it’s possible.

Hi Erik. I haven't tried that yet but great question. I will find out how those are attached and let you know.
