I'm not playing the first game for some time now so I won't get bored of the 2nd one too fast, but great game and already waiting for the tomb kings dlc the though the game is not even released.

Also in Age of Reckoning, an alliance between high elves and dwarves was also made, because of the situation it was decreed by both the phoenix king as well as the high king

It has been a long time since the war of the beard. During the End times, there was the Enclave of Light, which was a coalition between Men, Dwarf and Elf.
It was not a unified army, but they shared information and looked for the best ways to stem the tide.

It feels like I'm going to have more opportunities for evil laughter when playing High Elves than anything else. Though I might even use my powers for good (forcing my two allies to like each other so I don't have to break one of these alliances when they fight each other)... Nah.

I'm curious if they'll be able to somehow confederate with the Asrai... Lorewise, it'd make some sense (tho it should be really difficult), given their shared history. Perhaps even a quest chain of sorts...
That, or, of course, use the politics system to make the wood elves conquer the Old World, while turning them into a vassal. That could also work.
And then there's also the lizardmen... The true followers of the Old Ones. I suppose I'd try to keep them allied as the Asur; after all, they're basically on the same side as us.
Plus, of course, beat back the lord of the End Times, Archaon the Everchosen, saving the world. And, if possible, seal Chaos away from the world, ending it's threat forever. Perhaps I'd even try to wipe out the Skaven, Beastmen and Norscan tribes; their wicked ways are a threat to the stability of this realm.
Finally, but perhaps most importantly: wipe out the witch-king and his traitorous hordes, destroying that danger to Ulthuan and the world completely.
... And I'd probably vassal Vlad. Why? I like Vlad. He and Isabella have a good thing going on; you don't see true love like that too often. I'd try and redeem him! Vampires can be redeemed, y'know; the whole ''dragon's blood'' thing. I suppose I'd be unwilling to sacrifice one of the good dragons for that cause, tho... Not even a sun dragon, or hell, not even one of the dragons that inhabit Athel Loren. No... I'd have him go to war against the forces of Chaos, and make him slay and consume the blood of one of the dragons tainted and corrupted by Morrslieb's glow. That would work I hope.
Then, of course, there's the Dawi... As much as I'd like to undo the damage caused by the War of the Beard, which was a cruel attempt by the Druchii to mimic our influencing methods; or should I say, a cruel and brutally effective attempt. It drove a wedge between us and our old allies, shattering our relationship... And since the Dwarves are good at holding their grudges, it would take a lot of effort to undo said damage. Regardless, I would try; send ambassadors to the High-King Thorgrim Grudgebearer. We seek to aid him in his endeavor to strike some grudges out of that book of his, hopefully enough to mend our old alliance.
And as for Bretonnia, and Karl Franz's so-called ''empire''... Well. Since the Empire is basically our puppet state, put in place in order to act as a buffer between Chaos and Ulthuan, and as a tool in combating said Evil, we'd keep them around as long as they're useful. Once their usefulness runs out, however... Let the Asrai have them; their king is incompetent, their methods rough, primitive and uncivilized. I'd almost go as far as to compare the gap between us and them to the gap between them and the Beastmen!
And the same count even more-so for Bretonnia; they aren't even /our/ puppet, but that of the Glade-Lords of Athel Loren! No, no. They must go, with their primitive manners and their supposed ''chivalry'' and ''honor''.
We /will/ restore this world to greatness. FOR ULTHUAN AND THE PHOENIX KING! TO WAR!!!

Turn 130 ? Normally I'll be basically steamrolling by now , so this is great
@ CA: Some small changes I'd like to see for the High Elves:
1. White Lions having higher base damage, a small anti large bonus, and a 'bodyguard' and/or unbreakable trait when a lord is nearby. They are hunters and the strongest High Elven unit in the tabletop game, as well as often seen as bodyguards of the Phoenix King.
2. Lothern Seaguard (and eventually Skycutter) being produced in ports, as it makes a clear distinction and fits with the lore.
3. Having the settlement of The Shrine of Asuryan being a part of the Lothern province, as it is closely connected with the most common seat of the Phoenix King.
4. In the building chain "Shrine/Temple of Asuryan" having the phoenix'es being higher tier than the Phoenix Guard, as those magical birds should be rarer and more awesome.
5. Making the Repeater Bolt Thrower larger, as it looks quite tiny and unimpressive in it's size.
Everything else looks just awesome and quite beautiful. Nice work!!
For me the biggest gist in TW is the ability to use special stuff to influence relations, cause rebellions etc. I loved the chaos and vampire corruption in TW 1, however as I played the game I realized it was more of a nuisance.
I have high hopes that stuff like the Intrigue at Courts ability or the Skaven's city infiltration will shake up things and give you more options to stop an enemy aside than "Win all battles".

I loved Total War Warhammer 1, played it alot... No.2 looks beyond amazing. I am grateful to a company like you guys offering us such an amazing game, tons of lore/fights/strat its great. Wish more game companies could learn from you!

Love the attention given to strategic gameplay so far. Also glad the Helves aren't the generic "vanilla" faction and have interesting stuff to do.
It kind of makes me sad that the Empire is stuck as the most vanilla faction out there.
I like it how the highelves play their games with the lesser races. Surely gonna start my campaign with teclis.
So one of the best touches in this video was the montage of the siege there, anyone else notice the missiles bouncing off the dragon showing that they were ineffective vs its armor? Its a small thing but that little detail just seems so right.

The High Elves is the faction I want to play the most so this was a true treat for me. I can't wait, and I am so happy that they don't seem to have any annoying campaign mechanics as so many other factions do.
Warhammer 2 is starting to look really interesting. I've been getting bored with the standard "build your empire on their bones" gameplay of Warhammer 1, so I really wanna play this much more methodic and intricate style of play just to shake things up.
Looks awesome, can't wait for this game to come out!
Loved this. Great job. Enjoyed the cutting past turns, to speed things up, and the brief montage at the end. I've got slight question over the HE style: the intrigue at court feature feels like a very 'defensive' one. I've not read many HE books, though from the one novel I have read, I just wonder if this feature will feel slightly overplayed? I dunno. I just hope that other HE features can be felt strongly when playing the game. Otherwise great job.

For the High Elves he's my favorite.
Not nececarily due to his stats or anything, but his lore.
Just how he starts off as a complete useless layabout, then crosses a line he should never have crossed where one of the elven gods decided to put him in his place.
From that point on becoming one of the champions of the high elves and captain of the Phoenix Guard, completely having changed his ways.
Do settlements not visually change to your culture when you take them?
I guess it would be a bit weird for a millenia old Temple City to be torn down and replaced with bright, marble Elven towers, only for those to be torn down and the whole Temple City rebuilt if the Lizardmen take it back.

I know it's probably not going to happen, but I would love for the Lizardmen to get a Thunder Lizard special unit from the Rites a little bit like the Black Ark for the Dark Elves!

But even if it's not the case on launch, which would be a shame, I hope that the Thunder Lizard will be added later on through DLC.
It would be a real shame if the biggest Unit/ Monster the Warhammer World has to offer wouldn't make it in the game!
This diplomatic relations manipulation thing looks like it's gonna be tons of fun! Setting factions up against each other.
I think this is why End Times is still considered canon.
All the "godd" races were to busy fighting each other or intriguing against each other that the forces of chaos were able to pick them out one by one.
About Round 130 and you're not half trough the Vortex story? Is the campaign longer than the last game? Love the first game can't wait for the second one!
The walls seem to break a lot faster then in TWW1, and I'm glad for it.
Now all we need is goblin spider units to be able to scale the walls (as if they were going up the ladder like normal units)
and characters as big as Kholek (needs to be made bigger btw) the ability to function as a siege weapon in melee.
Literally bashing down those walls with his hammer.
The Greenskins will finish what Grom the Paunch started.

Being able to manipulate diplomacy seems like a really cool mechanic, hopefully its still useful in Legendary difficulty

I like it that the 3D porthole for the characters has had some effort made, the porthole of the fay enchantress looks like a crack fiend on WH1

Oh thank god, there's a scroll bar on the battle preview screen. I play with 40 unit armies so it was annoying not seeing half of my units there.

I feel this intrigue of court thing should be standard for most factions. The game needs better diplomacy, it shouldn't be a feature. I have a feeling the high elves are going to get the empire treatment and not have a lot of its unique flavour by the end of the expansion.

The court intrigue mechanics seem much more fitting for the dark elves, as in the lore they are the ones that pitted the hight elves vs the dwarfs. Or maybe also the undead.
This campaign map/features etc is looking amazing but what are ca's plans to merge both total wars will you go back and update warhammer 1 or will the games not be compatible

They are a race in the second game, but you can only play em in the first one (being the game with Norsca in it) and the combined map

Caleb Bakhtiar Haven't tried it yet. But note that it's going to be difficult to hover over "ward save" when ward save is showing up inside a tooltip. So it seems to me that the ui in TW WH2 is still better.

Well, you can be the friendly neighbour and improve relations instead. Thus avoiding unnecessary wars.
@Benjamin Mattias Lindqvist That's actually one of the things I'm looking forward to. Improving relations between my allies so I don't find myself ending up in a war with a former ally because they went and attacked my other ally while I was being invaded by a common enemy.

Wait? Are we able to build navy's in this game or not? I understand we can't have real time naval battles, but I thought we were going to have naval units that auto resolved like in M2TW?

Let's hope those mechanics actually work out ingame. For some reason I see myself intrigueing all the time, and several faction already hating each other to the bone but on the campaignmap they act like the best buddies and join forces to... well, kick my ass because - difficulty settings :)

I hope for High Elves, the AI won't somehow know that stuff you are doing through Diplomacy. I found it weird in Total War 1 how the AI knew I was sending money to certain allies and of course, they did not like that.

Seems neat, I dig the Intrigue mechanic, hopefully the IA won't be too much of bastards with it. Also: Is this pre-DLC Norsca? Doesn't seem to have any of the new units. Is Norsca not "upgraded" with Mammoths and the lot for game 2?

Question for lore nerds, is there any factions in this game that would be possible to team up with that's lore friendly? In Total War Warhammer 1 empire and dwarfs or beast men and chaos made sense, in this game it seems like everyone hates each other, Skaven want destruction, lizard man don't seem very negotiable, high elves and dark elves no way gonna get along

not really. All factions are pretty much assholes and hate each other. I could imagaine High Elves and Lizardmen teaming up, but only if there is some world ending Chaos invasion going on (under that circumstance even Empire and Vlad von Carstein teamed up though, so that isn't saying much)
There has been trade and coöperation between factions in the lore. Of course, Warhammer being a miniature game, every race has to have a reason to war with any other faction.
Of the four new races in 2, I only can see High Elves and Lizardmen / Dark Elves and Skaven working together. But diplomacy with Lizardmen is.. tricky at best and any 'aliance' between Skaven and Dark Elves would be an alliance of convenience at best. More likely it's Dark Elves tricking / threatening Skaven into fighting their enemies ("Hey, see those Lizardmen? They have warpstone. Lots of it").
Btw will there be any changes ( fix ) to coop campaigns ?

I've just noticed something; settlements on the campaign map no longer change architecture to reflect the race/faction owning it.
Cant wait to use that Articuno in battle! :D
