I really love Nathan Prescott, especially after before the storm. He's like a lost little puppy. Take a step back and all he is is a kid. He was looking for a mentor, a parent figure to replace the one that never actually cared about him, and Jefferson took advantage of that. And when it was revealed that he had mental health problems, the way he acted made even more sense since he wasn't really properly helped either. He just wanted someone to care, in a way.
i know this is 5 years ago lol but also he was being made fun of for being a “twitch” because he sometimes has twitches when he’s under stress. the scene where he shoots chloe is probably a twitch which made him pull the trigger
Best anger scene of Nathan is in the before the storm, on the stage, when everyone laughs at him and he just says "fuuck yooou" - and leaves the hell away. xD
The number one reason is one of the most important reasons to love Nathan. Imo the biggest redeeming characteristic is the remorse he showed in that phone call. It added a new side to his character that we don't see anywhere else. He can't fix anything that he's done at that point but he still tries to warn Max so that maybe, _maybe_ he can help someone before he accepts his punishment at the hands of Mr Jefferson. A punishment I don't think Nathan deserved. I still remember your reaction to Nathans call. Heartbreaking. I agree with everything you said, and I love him for that. But if there is one thing that literally makes me love Nathan is that he has accepted his death. It takes really much courage to accept its own death. He knew that Jefferson was going to come to kill him. He could warn anyone: Victoria, Kristine (his sister, let's remember, she left in Brazil for her father's order, so maybe who can tell if Nathan does not suffer because of her lack?), his mother, his father... and instead decided to warn Max. In addition, in the second episode of Before the Storm we can see how much he is tormented by his father, imagine that it is heavy to be with a person every day that is always ready to put pressure and do not care about your problems... I'm also sure that Sean beat him, because there is an Unused Audio where Nathan says "My dad used to beat me. Now, you've let Warren beat me (to Max)" and that would explain why when Warren beat him down, Nathan did not he did not even try to defend himself, and after apologizing, he seemed as traumatized as if he remembered something bad from the past. If Nathan becomes mad, most is because of Sean. And of course, with Jefferson, things have not improved. He has suffered so much in his life, I'm not saying that you must forgive him for what he has done, but at least understand it. Yes, that's why Nathan is my favorite. I like Nathan because he has depth to him. Too many people dismiss complex characters like Nathan, and label him as a "psychopath." Too often, I see writers make mentally ill characters the scapegoat, as if they don't know what to do with them. There's perfect quote describing this phenomenon at the end of The Wolf Among Us- "We suffer in silence...and the world likes it that way." Nathan is trapped in a hellhole of depression, self-loathing, anger, and god knows what. He's treated like a PROBLEM instead of a PERSON. When he suffers, and draws "Rachel in the Dark Room" Chloe and Max dismiss the drawing as "fucked up." It boggles me how everyone in the game is able to brush away Nathan's problems. Max barely acknowledges Nathan's mental illness when she discovers his pills, she scoffs when he has diet pills open on his computer (clearly not a sign of an ED, right guys? Clearly, everything he does is ONLY for evil purposes), the Principal lies about his outbursts in class (Cry for Help, anybody?), the whole town holds a grudge on a teenage boy for being born into the prescott family, something he had NO control over, (Seriously? You hate a teenage boy for being born? Are you cereal?). And I get, Sean Prescott is human scum and screwed over the town, but it's not like Nathan had any control over Pan Estates? Seriously, when Nathan says a storm is coming, and can't wait for the storm to kill everything, how grateful would you feel to a town which has labeled you as a "no good Prescott" even though they know nothing about you?

Some of us are not born into the best conditions so we are naturally shaped that way. We are human and can express what we feel. It's not only that, for me. I feel like everybody in this game is so fucking incompetent sometimes. Sean Prescott the dumbass didn't send his son to therapy and now he's become the textbook example of what happens to severely mentally ill people who have access to guns and has unchecked rage, schizo, etc. It took 2 teenagers to solve a case, and that too, they fucked up every step of the way, but that's off-topic. Hey Katya! I really agree with these reasons! This may not make much sense, but I think he is at least a bit like Draco Malfoy. They both have troubled relationships with their fathers, their families influenced how they treat people, they both were manipulated by a powerful or father figure, they are misunderstood, and they desperately want to prove themselves to their family figures. They also have somewhat iconic catchphrases and hair. What do you think? Also, the video by SquareEnixPresents where some of the voice actors play Life is Strange, Nik Shriner does a few of Nathan's catchphrases! I can relate a lot to his anger outbursts. You can look at him and tell he's not necessarily an evil character but one who has been hurt quite a bit. He seemed excited when he thought he saw Rachel, he genuinely apologized to Max. He's a very lost and dark character, and ont op of it is all around interesting.
I admit I love Nathan.💖 I know firsthand what it's is like to be misunderstood. I Love your top ten reasons. especially #3 Bully Awareness. Which is so very important. and very special to me, because I'm a volunteer in my local community's youth centers Anti-Bully program. That's where me other volunteer's support young people, that are bullied and those that have trauma from being bullied. I help them with their homework, we all do lots of fun activity's such as board games, fun group art projects. But more importantly! I'm always their to be a Friend. Every time i see their face's light up with smile's, whenever I enter the center. and they get so happy they run to me with hugs.💖 Making a Difference in others lives for the Better, is a priority of mine above anything else.

I don't hate Nathan, it's just that he hurts and even kills people out of anger and frustration. He killed Rachel and Chloe and was also trying to rape her. In Before The Storm if you didn't help him in episode 1 and then told Samantha to help him in episode 2, it turns out in episode 3 that he actually broke two of her ribs. I know that they can actually end up together if you do different things, but that just shocked me. I know he's not really evil, I know he's is a victim and I know he has huge problems with his family especially his dad, but you can't just ignore or excuse the things he does just because he's after all not a bad guy. He should've gotten help, professional help, no one was there for him and it's so sad. So many things could've been avoided and it just makes me a bit angry.
Larissa He never did! In ep 1 some people thought that he rapped Chloe because we didn’t know about the darkroom by that time. But he only take photos of her (we can see the photo in his room and Chloe was with all of her clothes). besides that if you ask him if he rapped Chloe in the dinner he will say “You’re fucking even Max! No way are you asking me this. I didn’t touch her, and I wouldn’t!”. the thing is he >NEVER< rapped anyone, he was just manipulated by Jefferson to take the girls to the dark room.
Many people, me included, totally think that Nathan's character is pretty close to Josh's character from Until Dawn, but the whole anger equals comedy thing completely reminds me of Handsome Jack from the Borderlands series. They're both so easily angered by everything and to just hear them rant on and on about their first world problems is hilarious to me. I totally agree with that reason. :D
Honestly his photography is cool! I mean I painted gory and creepy pictures in high school but it doesn’t mean I’m a psychopath. Some people just paint or take photos of their energy and what’s on their mind. I have a sibling that struggles with some of the things Nathan struggles with, yet I don’t find them a psychopath at all because we have been through traumatic experiences that created these abnormalities in us. But being diagnosed doesn’t define us either, people just need to understand what we and Nathan are going through. :) I also don’t tell a lot of people what I’m diagnosed with just like Nathan, not only because it’s hard to, but because most people don’t understand and they treat you differently. It’s a lot easier to not tell them, than it is to tell them.
I love Nathan because I feel like he really trapped in his thoughts and tried to escape it but couldn't. His mental state is very fascinating to analyze and the manipulation only makes that more interesting.
None of this would have happened (what Nathan had to go through) if Mr. Prescott's son of a bitch had paid more attention to his son and given him the love he deserves and not treated him as a disappointment or shame and accepted that his son needed help. Nathan wouldn't have to seek someone else's parental love. As you can see in the alternate timeline, Nathan and his "father" have a good and stable relationship and it is seen that he is not involved with Jefferson. Simply put, the fault lies with both Mr. Prescott and Jefferson

I could sympathize with them since there are a lot of times that I hate how society could be disgusting at times with how they treat people. So, they wouldn't be a villain at all if people around them treated them nicely in the first place.
Thank you for making this video. Will admit I did used to hate Nathan but now I have had a change of heart towards him. After studying him more I see he really isn’t any different from Chloe. Both are lost puppies who just wanted someone to love and care about them. Samantha was one of the few people who saw their light and the true Chloe and Nathan. They both are tragic characters with sad endings no matter whether you go Bae or Bay. One will be dead and the other one with a ruined life no matter which you pick. I don’t believe Nathan killed Rachel. Jeffershit did it but made Nathan think he did it. This way he could get anything he wanted from him and have his evil fun in mentally destroying him.

Nathan was raised that the wrong way was always right and the same with Jefferson which is why he went out looking for someone to replace his dad and unfourntely that replacement was Jefferson which made Nathan even more troubled and dark as in the voicemail he didn't want to hurt Kate, Rachel and who knows how many he has hurt but he shows remorse did it completely wipe away the awful things he's done? No but it gave some reasoning to why. Also his drawing is the most clear thing we get to physically see into Nathans mind (my opinion) as that moment with Rachel in the dark room has seriously messed him up plus we don't know what happened we only got references to what happened as that drawing is the only thing that shows how messed up it was.
Honestly, I agree with a lot of the points, but I don't think his anger is funny. As someone who's been in a similar situation with being manipulated to do bad things, the anger he shows scares me. I have a lot of anger issues as well and getting angry is more like a show of panic for me and it seems like that for him. He's scared to be guilty, but he keeps making it worse through his explosive reactions that he's probably trying to fix but he doesn't know how. I mean, the things he says are kind of funny, but it's also scary because it seems like there's close to no self awareness at how angry he's becoming and like he doesn't understand what he's saying.

Almost every maniack in the world was "misunderstod" and had some bad expirience in their childhood - should it be the reason to love them? In BTS I felt sorry for him an he really was not bad, but in the original game he's just a psychotic asshole. Some of us are not born into the best conditions so we are naturally shaped that way. We are human and can express what we feel. Why do stupid insecure human beings have to call “abnormal” or problematic people “pathetic” and tell us that we have a bad reputation and no life? What place are they in to even care about someone’s reputation??? I went to an art college and insecure adults still say dumb pathetic things about people with disorders and depression. They can’t help it, and I fucking hate how spoiled kids and angry old men just step over them like that. It's not only that, for me. I feel like everybody in this game is so fucking incompetent sometimes. Sean Prescott the dumbass didn't send his son to therapy and now he's become the textbook example of what happens to severely mentally ill people who have access to guns and has unchecked rage, schizo, etc. It took 2 teenagers to solve a case, and that too, they fucked up every step of the way, but that's off-topic. Really, I'm just pissed that Nathan's storyline felt ham-fisted as hell.

Hey Katya! I really agree with these reasons! This may not make much sense, but I think he is at least a bit like Draco Malfoy. They both have troubled relationships with their fathers, their families influenced how they treat people, they both were manipulated by a powerful or father figure, they are misunderstood, and they desperately want to prove themselves to their family figures. They also have somewhat iconic catchphrases and hair. What do you think? Also, the video by SquareEnixPresents where some of the voice actors play Life is Strange, Nik Shriner does a few of Nathan's catchphrases! I can relate a lot to his anger outbursts. You can look at him and tell he's not necessarily an evil character but one who has been hurt quite a bit. He seemed excited when he thought he saw Rachel, he genuinely apologized to Max. He's a very lost and dark character, and ont op of it is all around interesting.

I admit I love Nathan.💖 I know firsthand what it's is like to be misunderstood. I Love your top ten reasons. especially #3 Bully Awareness. Which is so very important. and very special to me, because I'm a volunteer in my local community's youth centers Anti-Bully program. That's where me other volunteer's support young people, that are bullied and those that have trauma from being bullied. I help them with their homework, we all do lots of fun activity's such as board games, fun group art projects. But more importantly! I'm always their to be a Friend. Every time i see their face's light up with smile's, whenever I enter the center. and they get so happy they run to me with hugs.💖 Making a Difference in others lives for the Better, is a priority of mine above anything else.

I don't hate Nathan, it's just that he hurts and even kills people out of anger and frustration. He killed Rachel and Chloe and was also trying to rape her. In Before The Storm if you didn't help him in episode 1 and then told Samantha to help him in episode 2, it turns out in episode 3 that he actually broke two of her ribs. I know that they can actually end up together if you do different things, but that just shocked me. I know he's not really evil, I know he's is a victim and I know he has huge problems with his family especially his dad, but you can't just ignore or excuse the things he does just because he's after all not a bad guy. He should've gotten help, professional help, no one was there for him and it's so sad. So many things could've been avoided and it just makes me a bit angry.

Larissa He never did! In ep 1 some people thought that he rapped Chloe because we didn’t know about the darkroom by that time. But he only take photos of her (we can see the photo in his room and Chloe was with all of her clothes). besides that if you ask him if he rapped Chloe in the dinner he will say “You’re fucking even Max! No way are you asking me this. I didn’t touch her, and I wouldn’t!”. the thing is he >NEVER< rapped anyone, he was just manipulated by Jefferson to take the girls to the dark room.
Many people, me included, totally think that Nathan's character is pretty close to Josh's character from Until Dawn, but the whole anger equals comedy thing completely reminds me of Handsome Jack from the Borderlands series. They're both so easily angered by everything and to just hear them rant on and on about their first world problems is hilarious to me. I totally agree with that reason. :D

Honestly his photography is cool! I mean I painted gory and creepy pictures in high school but it doesn’t mean I’m a psychopath. Some people just paint or take photos of their energy and what’s on their mind. I have a sibling that struggles with some of the things Nathan struggles with, yet I don’t find them a psychopath at all because we have been through traumatic experiences that created these abnormalities in us. But being diagnosed doesn’t define us either, people just need to understand what we and Nathan are going through. :) I also don’t tell a lot of people what I’m diagnosed with just like Nathan, not only because it’s hard to, but because most people don’t understand and they treat you differently. It’s a lot easier to not tell them, than it is to tell them.

I love Nathan because I feel like he really trapped in his thoughts and tried to escape it but couldn't. His mental state is very fascinating to analyze and the manipulation only makes that more interesting.
None of this would have happened (what Nathan had to go through) if Mr. Prescott's son of a bitch had paid more attention to his son and given him the love he deserves and not treated him as a disappointment or shame and accepted that his son needed help. Nathan wouldn't have to seek someone else's parental love.
As you can see in the alternate timeline, Nathan and his "father" have a good and stable relationship and it is seen that he is not involved with Jefferson.
Simply put, the fault lies with both Mr. Prescott and Jefferson

Back to your topic, most villains have a dark past that made them that way. I could sympathize with them since there are a lot of times that I hate how society could be disgusting at times with how they treat people. So, they wouldn't be a villain at all if people around them treated them nicely in the first place.
Thank you for making this video. Will admit I did used to hate Nathan but now I have had a change of heart towards him. After studying him more I see he really isn’t any different from Chloe. Both are lost puppies who just wanted someone to love and care about them. Samantha was one of the few people who saw their light and the true Chloe and Nathan. They both are tragic characters with sad endings no matter whether you go Bae or Bay. One will be dead and the other one with a ruined life no matter which you pick. I don’t believe Nathan killed Rachel. Jeffershit did it but made Nathan think he did it. This way he could get anything he wanted from him and have his evil fun in mentally destroying him.

Nathan was raised that the wrong way was always right and the same with Jefferson which is why he went out looking for someone to replace his dad and unfourntely that replacement was Jefferson which made Nathan even more troubled and dark as in the voicemail he didn't want to hurt Kate, Rachel and who knows how many he has hurt but he shows remorse did it completely wipe away the awful things he's done? No but it gave some reasoning to why. Also his drawing is the most clear thing we get to physically see into Nathans mind (my opinion) as that moment with Rachel in the dark room has seriously messed him up plus we don't know what happened we only got references to what happened as that drawing is the only thing that shows how messed up it was.

Honestly, I agree with a lot of the points, but I don't think his anger is funny. As someone who's been in a similar situation with being manipulated to do bad things, the anger he shows scares me. I have a lot of anger issues as well and getting angry is more like a show of panic for me and it seems like that for him. He's scared to be guilty, but he keeps making it worse through his explosive reactions that he's probably trying to fix but he doesn't know how. I mean, the things he says are kind of funny, but it's also scary because it seems like there's close to no self awareness at how angry he's becoming and like he doesn't understand what he's saying.
