You are a true sportsman in my book. If more people here in middle Tennessee had the same catch and release mindset that you have, the fishing would be so much better here. I just can't see keeping nearly everything you catch like some people do. These streams are so beautiful, and are classified as micro-habitats, so they can't take much fishing pressure. I remember catching over 30 rock bass in one day, now you'd be lucky to catch 2 or 3 in those same creeks I used to wade 15-20 years ago. The smallmouth have taken a real hit as well.
Dude I found your channel a few days ago and I've been on a binge all weekend. Keep up the great videos man, you have an authenticity that other fishing channels don't have anymore.

Absolutely beautiful. I live in CT and do freshwater and saltwater fishing. But due to how heavily developed the state is for its small size in area, it's hard to find nicer creeks, streams, and small rivers, along with undeveloped open shoreline and creeks and small rivers that don't have private property.
yah I was glad to find this, there is some places here that I wade that goes through farmland but as long as im in the water im technically not trespassing, plus most of these people don't mind

I caught a red-eye bass around a pound and a half when I was young. If I had known they didn't get any bigger than that I should had see if it was a record at the time.
i gotta ask, with all that life in there and nice water conditions why are the bass so small? is it cause its cooler water?? enough water there to harbor bigger fish for sure. Or are those bass species just consistently smaller? i have seen bigger ones but plenty of tiny ones too. I live out west, we dont have all those bass species.
this river is definitely unique and has a ton of species that are smaller, the redeye coosa bass rarely ever get over 1 lb and it is the predominant black bass, there is a lot of spotted bass and i have caught a few over 2 lb but seem to be spread out
Up here, people own land on both sides of a creek, stream, or river, but the state (the public) owns all moving water, so as long as you're wading or floating, you can fish anywhere. It's a good law, and I don't know any landowners who object to it. As for crankbaits, they work well, but I'm very careful about where I fish them. Crankbaits tend to cost more than other lures I use, and maybe it's some law of nature that says the more a lure costs, the more likely I am to lose it to a snag. I think I've lost enough crankbaits to buy a new car.
What length/action pole and test line do yiu use to do your type of fishing. Have you experimented and improved your results by changing? I am planning a long distance horseback ride and will be taking a pole and was wondering what is the best to caught smaller fish under a pound but yet strong enough to land a 4-5 pounder?
