    I love your equipment; more than adequate for any job. Excellent demonstration on performing and aligning the master crystal and getting the radio well within specifications," congratulations " on a tricky setup.

    Awesome job Peter! Those little variable caps in the oscillator section sure are touchy. If they didn't drift a little, they would never sell any TCXO options :^) I think they should just make that option a standard in all HF radios.

      Mr Carlson's Lab I agree, living in the north in a house not well insulated. It can get cold in some rooms throwing my equipment off. Right now i am working on adapting a TCXO in to a older frequency counter and installing one in a ts-450Sat

      Sounds neat, keep us posted with the results. Would be neat to watch it's stability on a counter.

      Mr Carlson's Lab Hi Paul, glad that you like it! Yes you are right this caps are absolutely touchy but with some endurance it works:-) I agree TCXO should be minimum as basic configuration. The newer radios mid class and higher have it now..

    • @TRXLab
      @TRXLab  9 лет назад

      Matt K Hi Matt, yeah TCXO is minimum! Keep us posted!

      @@TRXLab Thank you So very much ,Great video,,I have a quick question,In the Auto tuner.There are 2 ,,,5 -+ inch,coax, jumpers.Are they to run parallel (ie left to left,R to R) or criss cross? I went in to the Auto tuner to clean all coax jumpers ends and not sure if I put them back correctly..Thank you very much.N1RAJ 73s

    I've really enjoyed this video. It would be interesting to see how the power of the output final amplifier could be adjusted, from 129.5W to 99.5W. But, as you mentioned the owner didn't want this :). Many thanks, Kostas.

    Another great job Peter...Most crystal radios do move frequency with time.You did a great job getting it back to within 1 hertz.Shame about the Finals the Kenwood is really being pushed at 130 watts ...That could be another repair for a later date.

    I'm surprised that Kenwood didn't fit a better quality trimmer for TC500, that is too coarse. A varactor diode, and multiturn precision trimpot would have been better. Incidentally, I once had a OM complain to me because a radio I'd repaired (it was a FT757) didn't read exactly the same digits as the guy he was chatting with.... I had to explain to him about tolerances and drift!! Also a fundamental problem with digital displays; I asked him if he would expect to measure millimeters to 3 decimal places with an old wooden ruler. He said 'no'... Thank you for yet another excellent video :)

    • @TRXLab
      @TRXLab  9 лет назад

      Alan Cordwell Hi Alan, yeah I totally agree thy could do it better but it is all about cost cutting to many bean counters in the process.. Like it with the old wooden ruler:-) that exactly the point! Thanks for feed back!

    Hi Peter. I have lost my adjustment tool for the special trim pots like the one on the reference adjustment. Do you have this tool and if so where can I buy one. I have looked all over the net. I find the usual alignment tools but none that allow you to adjust these tamper proof adjustments. Thanks for the video.

    Hi Peter, sounds like there wasnt very much wrong with the radio in the first place, frequency little bit off about all, thought the RF out power was too high, thought 100 would have been better, i have a valve amp, Heathkit sb 200 and only put 100 max into that....good video...from Fred G4Vvq in UK.

    • @TRXLab
      @TRXLab  9 лет назад

      Tom Smith Hi Fred, yes you are right not much wrong but 130Hz frequency error in SSB is a lot. You can already hear 50HZ. In FM it is totally different no problems with 130 Hz out. Well 130 Watt is too much stress for the finals. I have to ask what kind of amplifier he is using. RX sensitivity is really a subjective value until you have the radio in lab.. Thanks for feed -back . 73 Peter

    HI. TRXBench. Thats a nice video. Do you have an idea why the CAT communication of my TS570D freezes after I send the "IF" command ? (All other commands e.G. "FA" work fine) . Thank you.

    • @TRXLab
      @TRXLab  9 лет назад

      Wolfgang S. Hallo Wolfgang, mir ist dieser Fehler nicht bekannt. Falls der IF Command nicht "verstümmelt" ist, würde ich mal über die Kenwood Seite nachschauen, ob es ein firm-ware update für dein Gerät gibt. ..73

    I wonder if the OM has a faulty cable or something, which is why he thought the radio was down on power as well as deaf. I'm struggling to believe that a tube amplifier would require that much drive- they typically have a power gain of at least 10dB so to give the maximum legal output here in the UK of 26dBW would only require 16 dbW (40 watts!!) drive... but you know, the customer is always right!!!

    • @TRXLab
      @TRXLab  9 лет назад

      Alan Cordwell Well yes that could be a reason, I'm going to recommend him testing his set up, cables, connectors, antenna and what have we... The topic with the Amp is not clear to me, too. I don't know a linear which need 130W drive?? I have to ask him...

    good job i always enjoy watching your videosWhen you test from the antenna jack are you in CW or AM?
    how would you compare the receive of a TS-2000 to the TS-570

    • @TRXLab
      @TRXLab  9 лет назад

      Matt K Hi Matt, thanks for feed back. When I'm testing from the antenna jack it depends on the problem the radio has but in this case, as it was a frequency error, I tested in FM. In lab environment the TS-570 shows a better picture but that is not an on air test is important as well and an IP3 test should be performed.

    • @Mr_Meowingtons
      @Mr_Meowingtons 9 лет назад

      TRXBench when i test AM and CW at 10mhz i get 10 mhz when i test FM i get 9,999,988
