My beloved cat Lila, saved our lives 19 months ago, as she woke me up to alert me to a wildfire. While I lost everything but her & my car we lived because of her. Sadly I lost my baby 2 weeks before the yr anniversary of the fire. She lived 19yrs and her last yr was not easy, but she will always remain my shero.

The second story reminds me of a TERRIFYING night when a hailstorm hit. One night during my freshmen yr, I went to bed early bc it'd been such a rough day at school, and I'd later had a family argument at home. Suddenly, around 1 in the morning, I woke up to my Dachshund, who was 9 at the time, nuzzling me and licking me. At first, I just thought that he needed to go outside or wanted under the covers, since it WAS the beginning of winter. But when I tried to let him under the covers, he put a paw on the covers and pushed them down. I was annoyed that he woke me up and told him "It's 1 a.m. Go back to bed." He listened, at first, but it didn't last long. I rolled back over, and woke up a few minutes later to him on top of me, doing it AGAIN. Still unsure as to what he wanted, I picked him up and moved him back over to his side of my bed, angrily telling him "That's it! You wake me up again, you're sleeping on the floor! Go back to bed, NOW!" He obeyed, at first. But not even five minutes later, my room was lit up, and I heard a loud explosive-type banging that QUICKLY became continuous. Since I'm TERRIFIED of thunder, I started to get scared. At first, I thought that my dog had woke me up because he'd sensed a storm coming, and wanted to make sure I was okay, since he KNOWS when I get scared, AND that thunder is my BIGGEST fear. A few minutes later, I woke up to him doing it AGAIN, and was PRETTY ANNOYED. I just pushed him away and rolled back over. But, sensing danger, he REFUSED to let me go back to sleep. I suddenly felt him put a paw on my side, and gently nuzzling me, as if to say "Mama, get up. We gotta get up. There's a HUGE problem outside". Knowing that he'd NEVER acted like that at bedtime, and because he was SO persistent, I then realized he was trying to alert me to something, but still didn't know what. I was about to get up and find out what the problem was when I got the answer: I could hear the wind howling, and a loud roaring and thumping sound outside, and as my room was lit up again, I saw it: Big balls of ice coming down outside my window. I then realized my dog had woke me up bc he KNEW the storm was getting bad, and the hail was big, so it could've broken my window. Now TERRIFIED, I IMMEDIATELY got up, but froze up when I heard another loud BANG. I was now frozen in fear, and couldn't move. Suddenly, I slid forward. When I looked behind me to see what had caused me to move, I saw my dog standing behind me with his front paws on my legs, gently nudging and pushing me towards my closed bedroom door. On our way out of my room, I stopped to grab my FAVORITE stuffed dog, and my dog's blanket and teddy bear. I was still frozen in fear, but my dog kept gently nudging and pushing me until we got to my grandparents' room. As I got into bed with them, I heard a metallic crash as the wind blew our grill over and across the backyard. I was still REALLY scared, but picked up my dog, and got into bed with my grandparents, who'd been woken up by the storm. I was scared to go back to sleep, but my 9 yr old dog curled up next to me, and laid his head on my stomach. He then just stared at me calmly with his tail wagging as if to say "It's alright, Mama. I know you're scared. I'm staying right here. I'm not going to leave you. You can go back to sleep now. I'll wake you up if something happens." I started petting him, and was FINALLY able to go back to sleep. About an hour later, me and my grandparents were all woken up by an outdoor intercom saying "The severe weather alert is now over." And because it was now quiet outside, I knew the storm was gone. As I prepared to get up and head back to MY room, I felt a gentle paw gently push me down, and saw my dog standing on top of me, tail wagging, as if to say "Don't worry, Mama. I'm still here. Just go back to sleep." To keep me calm, he curled up next to me, and I went to sleep hugging him. The next day, all I could tell him was "Good boy!" He got a TON of treats and love, but eventually got annoyed of all the praise, which we all thought was HILARIOUS, since he HAD been a hero the night before. While he hadn't really saved my life, he'd protected me. I'll never forget that night, or the day he defended me during a walk. But that's a story for another time. My dog is 15 now, but he's STILL always there for me. Idk if what he did that night is considered heroic, but, to me, my dog was a REAL hero that night. If he hadn't been there or woken me up, I would've continued to panic, or tried to go outside and see what was going on, which would've been a BAD idea, since it was hailing and the wind was howling, AND it was storming outside. Idk what I'll do when my dog's time comes, bc he's my best friend, and in a way, he's also my adopted son, and we're always there for each other. Heck, I even saved HIS life one day, but again, story for another time. What do u guys think? Was my now 15 yr old dog a hero that night?

I have never liked the idea of clipping your feet onto bicycle pedals. This is the reason why. When things go wrong with a bike and you need your feet fast, you can't disengage them fast enough when clipped to the pedals. Even the kind of pedals with the toe strap on them can work against you in an instinct moment to swing your foot out to stop you from crashing full on the ground.
Regarding the second story, I'm pretty certain the fire was caused by raccoons or perhaps some type of rodent chewed on the wires under the house and possibly in the wall as well. When you have pest animals living in the house, you have to be very careful they have not chewed on the wiring because something like this can and does happen. You really should have the wiring inspected by a reputable electrician when you've had pests in the house or garage.

Yeah all these safety things are just so good I grew up we rode bikes everywhere and all kinds of conditions we didn't have any safety gear no pads no foot straps no locking your feet to a pedal thank God we didn't people have to start using common sense and why didn't he have something so that he could contact somebody oh he was out of a cell phone's range well he might have thought about being a heck of a lot more careful people always do this kind of stuff they think because they live by the woods they're somehow Daniel Boone.

Animals do not have human intelligence and have many mental and physical characteristics that link everyone of them to their natural instants and their own spices BUT there still a great possibility and natural law that make them have many different personalities , emotions and ways to navigate life just like how different humans have different life ideologies , emotions and personalities ......... Sophie is a dog that spend years with her owner without showing any emotion but that dose not mean she can not feel any thing or that she dose not have any love and loyalty toward her owner , her calm nature did not make her any less of a dog , in fact I personally believe that God had made her that way for her to become the reason for herself and owner`s survival from such terrible event

s my old dog used to be like that with my neighbour in the UK. She’d go for a morning walk with them and would bark to be let in to sit by the fire with him. We’d have to wait several minutes for her to come when called as they had to let her out! I’m fortunate to live with just the one neighbour in a field so we could do this without worrying she’d get hit by a car or stolen

Think of them as friends and not some alien creatures who can only find connection with us the special humans via trauma situations. Then all these feel good stories wouldnt seem so mysterious. At least that is the tone they take in these stories. I watch them cuz i love animals and often need a feel good story but sometimes they are cheesy.
