I can't even imagine the Cosmere and Brandon Sanderson's world's without Michael Kramer and Kate Reading. What a great insight into such a big part of my life! Thank you so much for producing, directing, narrating, and all of the other work you have put into this series!!!

I agree and I kind of feel bad for anyone that just reads the books. Sanderson may be the genius behind the stories but with the audio books it's a group effort and Michael Kramer and Kate Redding interpret the characters and present them in such a way that brings a whole new dimension to the story.

Nearly done with Way of Kings audible and I'm so glad I got into this series with Michael and Kate. They've forged the characters and story brilliantly created by Brandon.

Idk how you guys can stand kate.
I never heard a worse narrator in my life. I really hope they redo her chapters with kramer.
I'm borrowing the books from a friend to read her chapters so i can actually enjoy Sanderson's work.

@@spencersanders6906 if you're saying you listen to the books on 1.75 speed, then I'd recommend slowing down to take everything in, especially for Stormlight Archive. Though if you are able to listen at that speed and still fully enjoy the experience, then fair enough.

What Kate said about never getting bored because there are infinite stories / journeys is how I feel about reading too. What an awesome job to have that feels like that after 35 years! (Not that I could ever be a narrator, I hate reading aloud lol).

I have always listened to audiobooks while driving. When traveling for holidays to visit relatives, my kids have circumstantially listened to *hundreds* of hours of Michael and Kate over the years. From “Wheel of Time” to “Stormlight Archive” to “Mistborn,” my kids have come to relate these voices to family, holidays, and comfort.

Audiobook recording is one of those careers I've never thought much about the process behind, so it's really interesting to hear about all of the factors that go into the recording process! It never would've occurred to me that you would have to be careful of what you wear and eat/drink before recording. I had also never considered narrators having acting backgrounds and auditioning for these jobs. And it's cool to hear that despite reading a story that's already written, narrators can still make creative choices in their reading!

I'm here because of their work on the Stormlight Archives by Sanderson. I listen to a ton of audio books, both fiction and non. These two are my favorite narrators by far. I always know who is talking without having to concentrate on hearing paragraph breaks or "said John Doe." And in those books, I get to hear BOTH of them.

So I do miss not having Kate in Mistborn but Michael is still incredible. It's so crazy how he can do so many different characters, that all sound unique so I know exactly who's talking before the name is mentioned. And his female voices are just amazing lol, he's got it down perfect and it helps with the immersion so much.

I sat here for ten minutes going "I know his voice..... Where have I heard him....?" I'm currently listening to Way of kings, and just re listened to the Mistborn series. He is easily one of my favorite narrators, it's fun putting a face to the voice.
It makes so much sense that they work on books together too. As I was driving listening to Way of kings I was thinking how two or more narrators work on one project together, to get pace and tone to match between thema nd making sure names and places are also pronounced the same.
This might be my favorite episode so far.

I began my hobby of books later on in my life. I started by going back and making up for some lost time by reading books that I always wanted to read when I was a kid but never did because I believed the lie that since I was an extremely slow read, reading just wasn’t “for me.” So I began reading straight through the Harry Potter series and then stumbled upon Merphy’s channel when I searched for HP content. Almost three years later, I have become obsessed with books, I have submerged myself into the booktube and bookish communities, I have watched my children gain a passion for reading and my personal library has tripled in size. From there I found that reading books to my kids was so much fun. Creating voices for characters made my kids fall in love with any book I read them. So I decided that I wanted to begin narrating children’s books on RUclips.
Yet again Merphy, you met me on the path of a new passion of mine with this video and has amplified my dream of narration. What I thought were impossibilities for myself, have become possible just from the encouragement found in all of your content through these past few years.
Thank you so much for being you Merph and not settling for anything less. Love this video and, as always, keep ‘em comin’!

I always imagined that this was one of those scenarios where it sounds like an awesome job, but then it ends up sucking the fun and enjoyment out of reading. I assumed that having to consciously think about how you'll read it to others would sort of ruin the immersion, and that having to read all day, especially books you wouldn't read privately, would just make you not want to read for enjoyment at all.
In hindsight I suppose I could have just looked at this channel and realized the flaw in my thoughts, but it was just one of those assumptions I made and then just never really thought about. So thanks for the peek behind the curtain! It's not only neat to see a bit more of how the process works, but also a relief to hear how passionate they still are about books!
