Hi Nick, Greetings from India. Just saved and downloaded you video. I agree fully with Paul Nowicki's comment from six years ago that your videos are the hidden treasures of RUclips for martial artists. I am a Nidan in aikido and though not much experience in judo having trained in it for only three months I appreciate the similarity in concepts with aikido.

Sensei Nick, I am a Judo Shodan and refer to your videos all the time. Thank you for putting these on the web, I view them daily to keep the circle of learning going. I love your dojo. Thanks again, Brian H.

I'm realizing this is pretty much what my Aikido teachers try to tell me all the time, that I tense up too much thereby sending too much sensory information to my adversary. But in the dojo, as a beginner, you can be a bit too self aware and frustrated with trying to "get it right somehow dammit" to just listen and learn. So watching your videos at home is an excellent addition to my regular training. Thank you sensei.

This.Is.Judo. it's fundamentals and the essential understanding that very little force in energy outputs is necessary for a human body exerts enough cinetic energy in a single movement for you to use it with no effort at all. I beleive stability, strength, and even endurance follows if this part is understood. --> Plz Like and Share as i have, and thank you Nick for sharing this. Take care

judo is not just a way to fight, in fact i don't even consider it a way to fight but rather a form of self defense, but really judo is a form of Japanese art.. if you do some research and dig deep into judo you will find that the principles of judo is actually a mirror to the way of life. much just like the ways of Confucius. ;)

I like the principles shown in this video however why does the Uke over exaggerate his falls instead of being more natural with his movements?

You are a wonderful teacher and deliverer. Can you help and advise me? I just started training Judo, being 25 with no previous sporting experience and quite tall, I am having difficulty being less and stable.

All this talk feels much like "everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth".
