I never rode this as it closed before I ever went but the soundtrack is utter perfection . It’s Epcot through and through and I listen to it to sleep every night . I wish I could have experienced this in person . I feel so deeply connected to it even though my first trip to Epcot was in 2002
😥gosh I really miss this ride !!!!! One night my hubby & I went on it 6 times back in 89. It was perfect 👌🏻

We need to go back to 1999 and prevent Horizons closing from the sinkhole!
A bit late to the party here, but Horizons closed because they didn't have a sponsor anymore, and no-one wanted to sponsor Horizons because it was starting to show its age. That, and it's well known that the building was leaky and set pieces were getting water damaged. If you dig around on the Mesa Verde Times blog, you can find some pictures of the water damage. It's unfortunate for sure. They should've simply followed through with a remake and an update, but imagine if they decided to do a Horizons 2.0 today.
What about a Horizons trackless Dark Ride? They've done a few of those in Tokyo Disneyland, and it actually concept actually sounds pretty cool. The special effects and story would be updated of course, but it would still have the same general idea.
A part of Horizon's charm was the hanging ride vehicles and notable changes in elevation, in my opinion.

The duet you hear is Gloria Kaye and Joe Pizzulo. Interestingly enough, the same duet that did the theme song for Horizons recorded the version of “There’s A Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow” that you hear in the unload theater. I guess they’re perhaps the last of Horizons that still exists in WDW. Then the version of “There’s a great big beautiful tomorrow” heard on horizons I think is now played in act one on the talking machine (if not, then they had the same guy who did it or Horizons come back and rerecord a very similar version).Other than the two vocalists and the COP theme song rendition, there’s nothing really left of horizons. Sure there’s the props at one man’s dream like the robot butler, but that’s another story. I think we should all just appreciate how they at least saved “There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow” years before Horizons closed and we can still hear the beautiful vocals from the duet theme song when we ride COP.

Horizons, for me, is truly magical for a plethora of reasons, but one of the ones that stands out to me is its magnificent optimism. Today, when we imagine the future, it’s not nearly as grand or as positive as Horizons is. Horizons is a special and unique spark of hope for the coming decades, and I simply cannot fathom why Disney would let a gem like this go.
Having been born a little over a month before this attraction closed for good, I so wish I could have seen it, thankfully I can listen and imagine

Although just a touch higher pitched, this is still glorious. Although I don’t reminisce about Horizons anymore or wish it was back, I do more than just that, in fact, I have hope that Horizons CAN AND WILL return it may not occupy the space it was once sat on, but somehow someway Horizons WILL return in a way that will make the fans happy. There’s some areas where I can imagine Horizons returning, but the one that seems to speak the most to me is where Innoventions/communicore east and mouse gear is with how the two are set to close. If that doesn’t work, there’s always the chance Tomorrowland in the Magic Kingdom could receive it, although it might be harder to put it there. Remember 🎶if we can dream it, then we can do it (I’m sure you can finish the lyrics!)

Sure mission space is cool but I’m so ready for them to bulldoze it and have this retake the spot it deserves, maybe in 2032 hopefully before then if they would actually consider bringing it back.

+MrDirkles Thanks! I don't think these pieces have names. They're just inspired by the Horizons music. I could be wrong, but I've never seen names for them.
ResortTV1 oh well just thought i would ask. it's so uplifting i just love it. there is another horizons audio video on you tube that is an hour long and has longer versions of each musical track. That's why i thought they may be individual songs.
+MrDirkles Yes, I know the video you're taking about. The audio from the attraction itself is separated into tracks or individual songs, but this audio that used to play outside the attraction is one complete track, and I've never seen it broken down anywhere. It is a very nice piece though, I definitely agree. I listen to it quite often.
The opening song - which begins at the very start of the video - is "New Horizons" at 1-min. 52-seconds in length. And starting at 15:50 in the video is "Space" at 1-min. 22-seconds in length. As for the music you hear at 9:25...I don't think it is in any Disney soundtrack or collection.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but does the audio sound compressed and high-pitched? If so, is there any way to make the audio sound normal-pitched?
+Thomas Mulligan As far as I know, the pitch is correct. It sounds correct to my musical ears... lol.

+Thomas Mulligan I'll compare it to the original source audio tonight and check. I have a music degree, so my ears are usually pretty good. I was going on memory, but I'll check side to side.
