I like how Jono teaches people who to draw. Her drawing turned out beautifully. And I enjoyed hearing her talk about her grandmother. You could tell how much she valued the relationship they had.
What you said about how the purpose of starting an artwork is to create the first problem you need to solve is interesting - I never thought about it like that. When I start a piece from now on I'm going to think, "ok, time to create the first problem!" :-D Beautiful story and drawing Jess!
The biggest obstacle I've encountered in art was just learning the tools. It takes way too long for classes to show you anything other than the pencil. Learning the vast number of tools at your disposal is mind blowing.
This one hits so close to home. I've been slowly practicing and learning about drawing (a lot from Jono) so I can draw a picture of my grandmother (who passed 2.5 years ago) for my Grandfather's birthday. It's almost cathartic to spend time with her like that.
Well done indeed, well done! My biggest challenge is the time it takes to complete a work to my satisfaction. I'm something of an obsessive/compulsive personality, sometimes it takes me too long to get started, and once I've got the ball rolling and don't want to stop for anything until I know when I'm physically incapable of continuing. But I'll cross that bridge once I'm able to devote myself full time to my art. Love your help and encouragement to her, your improv student.
It would be a dream of mine to get this chance. Learning from the best and still be respected. Awesome video with a great piece of art as the result. Greetings from Germany.
Wait it's graphite? I was so sure it was charcoal! Well I feel like an idiot 😂 I'm so busy looking that sometimes my brain forgets to listen. What a beautiful picture and memory of her grandmother, so much talent in one room, I'm in awe.
There is no clear answer, for sure! But my question would be: is it learning to draw if you're copying square by square? In my mind drawing is about decoding what we see, and interpreting in the drawing. The translation process brings out the artist's message and emotions into the drawing. Of course also a pencil replica square-by-square brings out emotions, but they are very much linked to the reference photo, because the freedom of movement of the artist is limited to that 2inch square.
I'm reaching out on here cause i know this is your latest videos 😅 and I've been watching your videos for a few years and I can just pause a video and screen shot it and just look at it for a few minutes and just reflect on times 😅 thanks for that by the way it really helped while I was in the military, but I've gotten out recently and I've taken a step back and noticed that times these days are really sad in everyone's life somehow and while we know it's best to try to stay positive it can be really hard and while I may not have the ability to draw Like you could you draw your own version of uncle iroh from avatar, I think he is a staple childhood character that sort of represents wisdom and moving on
@@ARTIST___FEB drawing shadow light from imagination is one of the first things I did. to answer your question Id do like multiple sessions if I was doing a very detailed drawing
I dnt normally comment but this one was very touching and I really liked it. I want to ask 2 questions. 1. Why do you use water on your paper before you draw? 2. What is your pricing process like because I struggle with that?
Hunter x Hunter and Avatar the last Airbender are 2 of my all time favorites, keep em coming. I love the vibe of the group and us as the audience feels like we're chillin' with the boys.
Jono, could you please explain how you avoid shine in your graphite works - does applying them as powder instead of direct pencil help reduce shine. How else. Please explain
Just dont press hard the pencil. Shines started when you flattened the tooth of the paper.. so it should be layering until you get the dark tone you want. Not just one hard press
My biggest problem is the reference pictures, no matter how hard I try, I don't get the high resolution pictures with all the details. Can you please share any Website where I can get the high resolution pictures for practice?
Someday I’d like to pay for a mentorship to work with you on a piece of my own. I’ve got years of experience with graphite but I feel I haven’t created that “masterpiece” just yet.

She did such a great job and her story unexpectedly made me teary. 🤍🖤🤍🖤
This was a beautiful act/art of kindness to show love and respect in this way; and this goes for both Jono and Jess.
Very touching. What an amazing homage.
Beautiful and full of heart!
Have you ever thought of doing classes online? I love your patience, encouragement, and attention to detail you teach those you coach!!
They do on patreon

agreed. Knowing the right tools is half the work, (if you can draw)
WOW! Amazing work Jess, your Nana is beautiful. Thanks for the inspiration, always
Wonderful video watching a novice become so professional with the drawing. Well done on your tuition to help Jess 🙂

These People can be a professional cameras if cameras suddenly dissapear from the world
Without camera they can't take photo for reference "sad life"
No need just look at the person or thing

Does anyone have any advice on how to frame large scale drawings? Like 50x50 or 60x60 inches
This is what I aspire to😍xxx
