Your video has been so helpful! I came here when I first got my money plant and now I’m back again a couple months later rewatching because she’s produced a baby. Finally feel comfortable to branch out and get more indoor plants as this is a sign I can keep them alive. Now to watch more of your videos to further educate myself! Thank you!
Love watching your videos Emma...you have a great way of explaining things, easy to follow and straight to the point. My Pilea is busting out babies like there's no tomorrow so thank you for your tips on removing them. Will be giving them away to my friends 👏 Please keep your videos coming...they always bring a smile to my face 😄
Hi Emma, ok yesterday and today I binge watched your channel lol. I'm in Ontario Canada waiting for spring ;) During the pandemic I've become obsessed with indoor plants ... and I find it helps me in this time of being at home more. I've always loved nature, but had never been to good at keeping plants ... now I'm obsessed with them and obsessed with learning more about them. One day I may be able to pronounce their names lol. I touch them often and talk and even humm to them. I'm in love lol. Anyway, just letting you know you have another subscriber and I'm enjoying your video. Canadian hugs, Sunshine
Awww thank you so much! I'm so glad you're enjoying my videos and your new houseplant hobby! Plants seriously are the best, especially when we're spending all our time in our homes! Sending hugs from London! :)
Mine has grown straight up while dropping all of the lower leaves. Can it be saved? What should I do to help it out before it dies? Can I cut the top off and root it? This one really has me baffled lol
Maybe mine is a "sugar" and I thought it was just unhappy? I dunno. I got mine from a seller that had propagated it from their very large plant and it was in no light and very wet sub in an extremely cool environment. I immediately repotted it into a one size up container with a soil combo that's really good for drainage. I put it in a bright indirect sun spot and it did great the first 3 ir 4 days then one of the leaves started to curl under? I wasn't sure why so I moved it into a slightly less lighter area. Any suggestions?
It's quite possible that it's not used to being in a better draining soil, so you may need to keep it a bit wetter for a little bit while it acclimates to it's new substrate
They would appreciate more light. I have had a baby for 3months and keep it in a south facing window that has a bug screen she is growing like a monster and super happy. Twice the size of yours and the foliage is so abundant and rich green. She wants turning every day or two.
The stems aren't really braided at all. Sorry to hear about the black spots on yours. Unfortunately leaves won't grow back from the places they've fallen, but if the plant is still alive, it should keep growing from the top
Were Pileas really hard to find in the UK a few years ago like they were in the US? It used to be impossible to get one and there were waitlists and crazy pricing, but now you can find them at the grocery store 💚
Yeah I heard about that. I don't think it was quite as much of as issue over here. Given I've only been into houseplants for about 2 years so it's possible it happened before my time, but I think they've been quite popular in Europe for some time :)
My Pilea was doing amazing in the summer, so many babies and now that the winter is here it’s a love & hate relationship & many many leafs turn yellow/brown. I pluck them but it still looks very droopy & not many babies anymore like the summer time.. I let it dry out in between waterings also.. I’ve had it for almost a year & haven’t changed the nursery pot it came in- not sure if that could be it.
I've only had pilea plant for a month and its already put out 4 leaves! but I noticed yesterday that some of the leaves are getting this scalloped shape around the edges?? Should I be worried?
Hey there good growing i have a $$ plant and I have a big plastic pot and lots of in-house potting mix and I put my plant in is that good for it???? It’s a small one. Can I send u a pic of it. U can’t do it from here.
I bought a "Chinese money plant" from a reputable plant store called "ricks garden center" in colorado springs co. (usa) Arg... It doesn't look like this at all! It has much smaller leaves and slightly purple undersides! What did they sell me?!
Hey! I’ve had my plant for a little bit now, I was wondering if you knew if it was normal that my plant is yellowing on its bottom leaves and then a few days later loosing them...I think it’s okay? Because theirs new growth coming out of the center and everything else is green...but is this natural and normal for it to do this?
@@KatyJackson23 That's when I water it. Tbh it really depends on your environment and the time of year... in my flat in the UK that is usually 1x a week in the summer and maybe 1x every 2 weeks or maybe more in the winter
How long did it take for the stock to emerge from the dirt from the time when you had it as a little baby? Mine is currently toddler-sized but I got it as a tiny little thing just like yours, hoping it grows to be big and strong!
Hey there! I just bought a pilea peperomioides about 2-3 days back. I live in hostel and have an east-facing window. So, I wanted to know if I should keep the plant on the window? or if I keep it inside the room sometimes? Can it survive and thrive in artificial room light?
An east facing window should be fine for these. I'm sure they would enjoy a bit of morning sun. Just keep an eye out to see if it gets to be too much for the plant. If it does, move it further from the window! Best of luck :)
-Melanie- Thanks for the tip! I’ll try that! It’s been rainy in south Florida so maybe that contributed but now its been moved very close to a west facing window.
I know it's difficult, but those symptoms can be a sign of either under or over watering. So if you are experiencing that, take a look at your soil and watering habits. Is the soil moist most of the time? Then it's probably overwatering. Do you tend to forget about it or leave it for long periods without water? Then probably overwatering.

OMG yay!! That's so exciting! So glad your money plant has been growing well enough to produce babies!!
@GoodGrowing where can I buy the Splash Pilea and the Sugar one? Do you sell babies from them?
@@GoodGrowing Where can I find or buy the other kind of Pileas? The Splash and Sugar? Do you sell them?
mine growed so fast the last two years its crazy! but many leaves are falling of often. your video did help a lot!

Lol same here! Also from Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦 and am obsessed with being a new plant mom! 🪴
I didn’t know there were different types! That’s so cool!
Yeah I didn't realise until this year either!
Neither did eye so cool
Unfortunatelly, I killed one Pilea last year, don't know how and a few ago I bought a new one, this was helpful, thank you! Love, M
My first house plant 🪴❤️ thank you for this video!!
Oldie but a goodie 🤗
Thank you for these care tips. I would like to know how you keep the leaves of your Pilea flat. Mine is curling and I don't know how to fix it.
curling tends to be a sort of watering issue
@@GoodGrowing - thank you.
Great Care advice as I have a nee baby pilea and was looking for some basic care instructions! Mine is in a terracotta pot! Thanks 😊
Mine has grown straight up while dropping all of the lower leaves. Can it be saved? What should I do to help it out before it dies? Can I cut the top off and root it? This one really has me baffled lol
Oh no! Yes it can certainly be saved. I'm pretty sure you could cut a bit below the lowest leaves and propagate that stem
Great tips! Thank you so much!
Yeah i didn't know they came in varigation either! Thanks for sharing🙂🙂🙂
my pilea is a dumb poopy butt and every time it grows a new leaf two more fall off.
the leaves of my pilea keep falling off too! so frustrated with it!
Mine do that too and it's frustrating. 😑
@@YotsInPots Actually I moved my plant directly in front of a north facing window and it seems to be much stronger now.
It’s telling you it’s not happy where you are keeping it. Try a different place
I have two of these!! They’re so pretty.
For the leaves that have fallen off, should I cut off the stem?
I have one leaf that is brown at the end, should I cut that leaf off?
Will the drooping leaves and stem ever go straight with exposure to indirect sunlight?

Ahh okay. I'll try to give more light but I only have what the UK weather will allow 😅
Just got my 1st Chinese plant 🥰 hopefully it likes me 😂
How do you get your stems braided that way? I had black spots, and trimmed off the damaged leaves. Please tell me they'll grow back??🙏
The stems aren't really braided at all. Sorry to hear about the black spots on yours. Unfortunately leaves won't grow back from the places they've fallen, but if the plant is still alive, it should keep growing from the top
thank you so much! just picked up my first pilea :)
Ahh super exciting! Enjoy it :)
Would you ever do a tips and tricks on Air plants?
I haven't got any but if I ever get some, I can totally do a video on them! Thanks for the suggestion! :)
very informative thank you

It's probably just the time of year I'm afraid. I'm sure in spring it'll perk up again, especially if you repot it in some fresh soil!
We have north facing windows, without natural source of heat and sunlight will it grow?
That doesn't sound like the ideal spot for them. They may survive but may not thrive. Might be worth looking into getting grow lights for it

Hmm maybe send me a pic on Insta and I can try to help identify it!
Yours seems to be growing very slowly. Mine went from a little smaller than yours to just over a foot tall in a year and a half.
I waited until it was fully dry and soaked it. Now it looks mad at me. Should I try to dry it out?
is rooting hormones a recommended method to help? or just let the cutting do it thing 🥺
I've never used rooting hormone and haven't had any issues getting them to root :)
Thanks

Hmm mine have done that before so it is normal but i think it may be a symptom of a greater issue like irregular watering in some way
@@GoodGrowing okay, do I just water it when it’s dried out completely? How often is that for a 4inch pot do you know? And thank you!! :)

What kind of soil is better for the pilea?
well draining mix
Unfortunately, I’ve killed the two I ever had. Idk what I’m doing wrong! 😩
I found that minne wasn't that happy when I was overly caring for them. They thrive much more with my neglect
Mine foe some reason it started to loose it’s branches with the leaves.
Mine always die :( I need help
I accidentally sprayed mine with green soap... It didn't show in the first week, but now it has so much damage 😭
Oh noooo! :(

OMG I have this plant and yes it kind of has an extraterrestrial kind of thing goin on. It's also known as a ufo plant. 😂😂😂
God.blessed
This plant hates me. It’s living and green but the bottom leaves just dropped and it’s a slow growth. I’m not giving up though!!
RawVita can it be the light? It was with me, had the same, and it did better in more light!
Same issue here! Mine pushes out new baby leave, but the lower ones yellow and fall :( it definitely needs more light than I have...
-Melanie- Thanks for the tip! I’ll try that! It’s been rainy in south Florida so maybe that contributed but now its been moved very close to a west facing window.
Mine was the same. I put it under a grow light and now it’s thriving!
Can we get an update on your string of hearts?
Defo! If not on here then defo on instagram! Keep an eye out!
🥰🥰🥰
U sound English & American 🤩
cuz I am ;)
Thank you, I have to back off on watering.
I cannot keep a pilea alive if you paid me too 🥴
I feel the same way about spider plants. I think that some plants just don't like certain people...
Sooo true 😂
Go straight to the point.
Have you ever considered owning an olive tree?
I have not! Don't they like a warm sunny climate? UK may not be suited...
Mine don't like me, easy to care for no way
What?! Variegated?
Right!! Extra interesting!
That vague advice that says "if your plants have this/that problem your overwatering/underwatering" Which one is it. Be more specific!
