Very informative. Is the PLCSIM Advanced accessible from external via LAN? Example scenario would be PLCSIM Advanced running on one PC, and the HMI (Win CC RT Advanced) on another PC.

Yes, when you've set it up like this, everyone in the same network, so in the video's example 10.12.25.x network, can reach your PLCsim.

Did you remember when working on a simulated program go to ->TIA->Project tree (left side)->right click on your project name(right above "add new device")->Properties->Protection->check "Support simulation during block compilation". Else you're not allowed to download to a simulated PLC.
