I think all long hair styles on men should be called "The Brave" because you have to be brave to be man with long hair.

Today a motherly and sisterly figure ganged up on me, by basically throwing me into a hair salon with them to have my hair defiled by scissors. It was an awkward situation, the last time I had my hair cut was two years ago! Needless to say, the whole reason why I never got my hair cut, is because a man's hair can't be cut right. Once again, I proved them wrong, no hair style works for my face shape except LONG (down to the back). Luckily, even though they took 11 inches of hair off my head, it's still down to my shoulders. I proved my point, and I am going to grow it out again.
I think mostly, they were just jealous that I had longer and far more beautiful hair than them. Real men don't conform to society anyways, just tie it back, or braid for convenience and style. Don't cut it because of those who try to guilt trip you.
Oh, and the hair stylist admitted to being hardly able to bear cutting my hair, as it was legitimately, too beautiful to defile.

Hey, it's been 1 year now, been truly faithful to the Longhair culture and grew it all back. No blade has touched these sacred locks! The same sisterly influence is attempting to sabotage my sacred honor by asking me to cut this gem for her wedding, because I wouldn't match the other guys.
I already established the rule, no blade shall defile this hair (except by sword, as that's too awesome), so you know what I will tell her? SUCK IT!

Tr1llobite I know I'm not a guy, but something similar happened to me. It took 2 years for me to grow out my hair in a way that didn't look like it was cut into a terrible bob. The back finally falls longer than the rest of my hair. I don't think I can ever trust anyone else with my hair except myself.

*tip: if you use a small clear elastic to secure the ponytail first, it makes braiding a lot easier. You can even snip it out after you're done. just don't snip your hair by accident!

I wouldn't use a clear elastic. They damage the hair. I use a cool Longhair tie
I know this video is 5 years old but I still wear my hair this way or variants of this. Instead of braid I’ll do a loose mid highball if I’m trying to maintain a curl or wave pattern or if it’s already stretched out I’ll do a wet or damp tight twist, to the point where it folds back in on itself and secure it tightly. Hours later after work and I take it down it gives my hair a good body wave that looks good for going out or whatever. I call it Thor inspired.
My mother use to hate it when I cut my hair short , so I've had long hair ever since & I'm 57 now & it's still not going gray but it is thinning a bit !

Tip: If your hair is long enough, you can finish the braid by bringing it around and over your shoulder so your arms don't get as tired. My hair is super long(right at my belt line) so I usually have to when I braid.

I'm a 57 year old retired Army veteran, two years ago my ages old clippers died. I performed many High n Tight buzz jobs with them. I haven't cut my hair since lol I love it! Yeah it's a pain in the ass sometime but I've never had long hair and I wish I'd done it when it was just dark!

I have been doing this style for 20 plus years, and you are right. It is one of the quicker braids to do and it works for every day and formal.

man, props to you, just watched this then immediately tried it, my hairs isn't much shorter than yours and I couldn't do that, braiding my own hair from behind, that's difficult...
Great job. This has been my go to for just about every situation except sleeping. I’ve found many variations, like the same as he did but don’t braid it. Just a mini pony in its place. Or take it a step further and bring mini pony or braid upand thread through above where the braid starts and loop through, looks like more effort has gone in to it but just one more step. Or a man bun in that same place as the braid. Or I pull same hair back, and with just a 2 inch fold to the hair put the hair tie on. This is the easiest and fastest. I have premature silver hair growing just on the crown of my head but not the very front so this Thor style gives me cool stripes and I like it a lot

Braiding own hair is almost impossible :( it's waaaaay too hard for one to make. I can do braids for someone elses hair but for some reason i don't have enough fingers and stamina in my arms to make one for myself. Arms really tend to get very tired during the process :(

I want to do this style but my hair is so long, I need to pull my hair so far to pull it all the way through a braid, that I basically *have* to lose my hold on the other strands. It is somewhat infuriating.

Add a rope braid coming from underneath either side of the braid and you can make it look like one badass viking/elven/dwarven hairstyle :)
Plus do you get any problems with dropping hairs in the braid coz i can never get a braid that doesn't look messy.

I've been doing this for ten years and it is nice to finally see someone with editing and presentation chops to treat it professionally. It is fun to see styles I use all the time being shown on this channel. May the kindred longhair spirits find you :) One criticism, make sure your not pulling the hair too much near the front of the head as this duress can pull hair out and recede the hairline.

Long hair since 1992. Now that I'm over 40 (43) my hair is starting to thin. I think I'll eventually need to shave it completely. Any tips on how to go from 25 years as a long hair to thinning or should I just man up and shave it?

I would shave it or do a short haircut when you think it is too much. It really sucks but we can't do anything about it, im very Young but my genes have doomed me.
