but that's the true beauty of their relationship. It was so organic and real Because it wasn't what we expected. We were led to believe that the typical anime tropes would kick in, with Tsumugu and Manaka having a "fated meeting", while Chisaki and Hikari would be the will they/won't they childhood friends thing. Instead, it was Completely flipped on it's head, and yet, it made Perfect sense, because Tsumugu's character was always shy and rarely spoke openly...and yet when you look back on it, it was only in the Small moments with Chisaki, did he ever actually open up and give his opinions and thoughts on things. The pain they go through for 5 years makes us hurt for them as well. To think that he waited for her, patiently, as a knight standing behind his princess....as she gazed longingly at the prince of the other nation....waiting for her to realize that was by her side...when her world came crashing down.
You could tell that he was in pain asking her : “is that not enough? Is that fact alone not enough?” It’s as if his real question was: “was your time with me...not enough...?”
The whole love circle: 1. Kaneme likes Chisaki 2. Chisaki LIKED Hikaru now Tsumugu 3. Hikaru likes Manaka 4. Manaka LIKED Tsumugu now Hikaru 5. Tsumugu likes Chisaki I felt so bad for Chisaki first she liked Hikaru but kept quiet because she thought Manaka likes Hikaru as well (which she did). Then over time she lost her feelings for Hikaru and liked Tsumugu. But then Hikaru said it was Tsumugu Manaka liked (she didn’t). So then Chisaki felt bad and hid her feelings for him pretending she still liked Hikaru. And in the end she found out it was really Hikaru meaning she was finally allowed to say her feelings to Tsumugu.
SimplyNightcore i nearly dropped the anime cuz i srsly hated the MC dude and i was rooting for Tsumugu but everything changed after the 5 year timelapse... and btw the only reason why i continued watching the anime is becuz of Tsumugu and Chisaki😂

本当にこのアニメ、『ドロドロした感情を冷静さを保ったまま解決させられる「光」と「ちさき」があまりに重要』すぎるわ。最初から重要すぎる二人がくっつく話にすりゃこんなにこじれなかったのにな。
普通の恋愛ドラマにしたくなかったばっかりに、寧ろ現実味を持たせた恋愛ドラマにしてしまったがゆえに、『結局「一番ドロドロしてない光とちさき」が「ドロドロ製造機」でしかない』。
光とちさきが海で暮らしてて恋人同士で、それでちさきだけが成長して、そこで紡が光がいない間の代わりや支えになりたいと思うならわかりやすいんだけど。
まなかや要が居て、光のことは片思いってわかってる状況ではちさきがあまりにも不憫過ぎるし。美海があかりの実娘じゃないことで光のことを好きで居て負けヒロインにされるのも事態をややこしくしてる。
紡とちさきはまるで夫婦みたいに息がぴったりだけど、ちさきが周りのみんなを大切にしているばっかりに、紡はそこにも繊細に気を配らなきゃならない。ここで言ったセリフは、「ちさき本人だけを好きでいて、ちさきのために海の調査をして海を守る、そんな俺ではだめなのか？他のみんなの気持ちまで汲み取らなきゃいけないか？」という意味が込められてると思う。それにしても紡はイケメンなのになんだか達観してて渋い。海の男ってこんなにも渋いのか？
