No matter where it is or what time of day ALWAYS check your surroundings !! One the most dangerous weapons that attacker would expect is ball point pen !! When walking alone with a dog keep it hidden but keep it in your hands an if attacked his new contacts will be that ball point pen and if you hesitate you will be on the losing end of that pen 🖊️
One of my dogs was involved in altercation with another dog when it's owner started to make threats towards me. I simply told him that if he used violence, my dogs would attack him. They are/were both large dogs. He backed off. So would I.
Have fighting experience from long ago, when I was young. Be alert. If someone is aggressive Square off and step to the side. Do not step forword or backwards.
Quite some time ago I practiced Ju Jitsu- Tai sabaki- moving your body with simple footwork is a major part of dealing with attacks- so you are not square on and are, ideally on the outside of the attacking limb (but it's not always possible so being inside the attack also has a place)- in many cases you would step towards the attacker but to their side. This also places them in a good position to be thrown. Even more years ago I'd done a handful of Aki-Jitsu classes and got into a street confrontation. The guy who attacked me threw a bunch of haymakers and, being inexperienced I just stood there with my arms up in a triangle blocking them until I decided to try a technique- I stepped forwards and to the side but ended up on the inside of his incoming arm- which didn't matter as I had my arm up which I then used to pull him into a headlock which he could not escape from! His mate was then trying to hit me but I was dragging the first guy around by his neck using his read end to fend off the attack! It must have looked quite funny on CCTV!
This is a very important piece of advice. With camera's pretty much everywhere now, the police will almost undoubtedly find some CCTV or Ring doorbell footage etc that will show the incident. With you holding hands up in a 'please, I don't want any trouble' stance (it doesn't hurt to say it out loud too), it will be clear that the aggressor is the other person. That position is also basically a defensive fighting stance without appearing to be one, you're already in the position to fight and defend as needed.
As a small late twenties female needing to defend myself is really important these days. The more ideas I acquire the safer I feel. THANKS for your help Gentlemen!
Indeed, though, it has to be said that ideas and watching videos won't protect you- you must practice even simple techniques, ideally under pressure against someone not being compliant (though, you can build up to that). Unless practiced well, most people's reaction to aggression is to freeze in fear, which is understandable but not helpful.
This is great advice and the best thing to do - I agree however most cowards run in packs and multiple attackers raise an entirely different question. Thanks for the presentation. Cheers!

I have arthritis in my knees, so I ain't running anywhere, I can limp away, but that won't work if someone intends to do me harm and is serious.
Usually when a bully confronts you like this it's because he believes he has superior strength, he believes you are weaker and so the last thing he expects is for you to take the initiative and strike first. The SAS use a shock and awe tactic. When they are outnumbered and out gunned they attack because that's not what the enemy is expecting. They think you'll run and are simply not prepared for you to turn around and attack. The person who strikes first always has the advantage, so make it count and don't necessarily go for the head. For a trained individual this is good advice. I agree with some that you should have defensive hands raised and you should be giving commands to back off. But those defensive hands can become offensive if the person keeps coming. For the average untrained person who doesn’t know how to fight, also raised defensive hands but backing away with the intention of leaving fast and loud commands to back off. If you don’t know how to fight you need to leave fast if possible. Too many people will have normalcy bias and let someone walk right into their red zone space. Hands up and create distance and leave fast if you can’t fight. If you know how to fight, hands up, give commands, launch first strike if forced to do so no hesitation. Palm strike to nose, hard push kick to the stomach, while protecting your head. Stay safe out there with situational awareness by seeing your surroundings in public. but don’t overestimate your ability if you’ve never trained. And if you don’t train then maybe you should.
As someone who has practiced Judo for many years I find that I am mentally conditioned to get in close and reduce the distance as quickly as possible. Most people want to use their fists and punch but unless you are a trained boxer that is quite hard to do when your opponent is right on top of you. Even against bigger people i fancy my chances better when I am right in their faces where i can go for the eyes, nose, headbutt or just grapple.
Theres a diffrence between surviving and winning. When youre being attacked you only really need to disable your attacker. And look for tje opportunity to escape. You don't necessarily have to beat then to a bloody pulp. You don't have to "win." Getting out of the situation as unscathed as possible is winning. Also it is rare these days for an attacker to be alone. Usually theres multiple attackers and that changes things completely. But this video is good advice. I like it.
Most common sense thing i have ever seen on this subject.. If there’s a group of them, my mums advice has always served me well… She said always clump the quiet one first, Great advice, though I have ironed out a few deaf fellas by mistake.
I worked in law enforcement for about ten years, and this is accurate. However I learned a long time ago that throwing closed fist punches is not a great idea, it’ll work, but it will cause problems for the rest of your day, week or even month. Something that I’ve done several times is throw a low kick at the about to be forward leg/knee. It doesn’t have to be hard but it’s enough to cause them to have balance issues, you are then close enough for grappling.
@@mr.anti.conservatives-u6f I think the point of what I said was missed. If you are being attacked by someone, then you can interrupt them by kicking the leg that is about to be their lead leg as they step forward. I said that I was law enforcement to give this some context, I’ve had several interactions with people who are just going nuts and attacking every person they see. This was my go to technique for someone who wasn’t holding a weapon.
I wouldn’t plan to grapple unless you are a judo expert The aggressor may be stronger and better at it than you. I certainly couldn’t due to medical issues 😮
I did 10 tours in Vietnam. Met Steven Seagal during a Special Ops mission deep in the jungle. He trained me on self defence and hand to hand combat. The one thing he told us to NEVER do, was throw a road works cone. He said there was always a chance that the road crew were on a tea break, and if someone throwing a cone was to disturb said tea break, all hell would break loose. The mantra was never to disturb a crew having a brew. Fatal mistake. Glad I listened to him. Steven, if you read this - you're the best.
Usually the aggressor will try to instigate their victim to be the aggressive one in a altercation. Perfect situation for the "bully" or aggressor to play innocent or to be seen as the one defending. Make note of this, the aggressor will insult/ disrespect and say or do anything to make you look like the violent one. Have discretion who you choose to be around. Take heart for peace and truth.
Great advice and as I do BJJ I would always start to defend myself with strikes, the actul purpose of which are to compel my attacker to come in close to try and grapple with me.
Isn't BJJ kinda worthless against multiple attackers? Won't his buddies kick you to death while you are feeling up the first guy? Cowards always run in packs. What is your strategy for multiple attackers.
@kaoskronostyche9939 nothing is effective against multiple determined attackers! Any combat sport with a large component of live sparring makes someone fitter and tougher but the hours I spend training each week would be a very poor use of time if my aim was to marginally improve my chances in a hopeless and unlikely situation.
BJJ is very scenario specific. I have the Gracie self defence book and it is basically the same as the Japanese JJ I did in the 80s as a kid. Judo, wrestling, rugby and boxing are a good combination
Put your hands up in a Self Defensive frame. This way, you can, if anyone is filming you with their cell phone, you can say that you didn't want to fight. Nowadays cameras are EVERYWHERE, even if you think they're not. And if you land in court, taking the first punch may still land you in jail. If the other guy has a good lawyer, his lawyer will be able to show that you used EXCESSIVE VIOLENCE even if it was supposedly defending yourself. Cops really aren't great at sorting out who the "bad guy" is, SO USE YOUR HEAD - BEFORE YOU USE YOUR FISTS!
I am glad I found you guys. I am training Krav Maga myself and did boxing in the past. I love constantly improving myself so your videos are amazing. Discovered you guys yesterday and binged like 10 videos already 🙂
Good info. guys . A solid cane is also a good tool for keeping an aggressor at bay & it is most always in hand if your not as agile as a younger person is. Whether a person is in an empty handed situation or they have a n equalizer at hand, "awareness " ( just as you're advising ) is a persons first defense, especially while pumping gas, everyone knows you just want to get in & out & most folks are pre- occupied with the task as it's just an annoyance & where low life's like to hang out.
Excellent analyses. The trouble comes when, if there are witnesses, it is shown that you were the initial aggressor. One must bear in mind that sometimes, an aggressor will feint to get you to make the first move. Of course, in the endless amounts of scenarios, remaining situationally aware is key. So many variables involved. Videos like this and others are so helpful. We do need to see more videos of the legal (or illegal) aspects of physical confrontations.
Brilliant video, well done guys 👏 I don’t hear enough people talking about gaining an advantage before it kicks off. My 3 As Awareness Avoidance Advantage If shit is about to go down you want to gain every & any advantage you can before your forced to defend yourself & engage.
I used this years ago several times when I was threatened on building sites by my men. Instead of running away as expected I advanced & often it put the bloke off as he expected something different. He would stop & I could calm the situation. I picked up the idea from an SAS officer who said that if a small group was caught & outnumbered instead of retreat they were trained to advance, knowing that if they tried to retreat they would lose anyway. Sometimes that tactic threw the enemy into disarray because they did not expect it & the SAS group managed to survive.
You know things are bad when self defense videos like this have to be made but I understand why the amount of times I have been approached by someone looking for a fight because they think they can get one over you I live in Birmingham UK and this sort of thing happens every now and then thanks for the video it was helpful 👍👍

Breakfalling is an underestimated skill . I would have been permanently done I reckon if I didn't know to put my chin to chest going backwards saved my life I reckon
And when you're in court, anyone who saw what happened will say you threw the first punch and started the fight. You get to wear the pretty orange jumpsuit. Better to put all that training you did by sidestepping and counter punching. It sucks to be a martial artist because the law is always against you but it's what we have to put up with and we get to survive... hopefully.
The whole idea is to never let the attacker get any momentum because the last thing he is expecting is you be the aggressor!! So take a deep breath as you let it out and the attacker gets closer and in his fake anger his eyes 👀 are ready to become your new 🧤 gloves and he’ll be so much shock and that’s the opening of letting him know it’s not a good day to be you !!!
I think it’s all about the element of surprise. If you can feign innocence and weakness or an unwillingness to fight, then unleash your assault quickly and run away, that’s the ideal outcome. Real life fights aren’t like in the movies, it’s not choreographed and it’s faster in real life. Not to mention the adrenaline will cripple a lot of people. I remember at school when fights broke out, some guys were just naturally good fighters that put adrenaline to good use, whilst others literally broke down crying and collapsed in a heap because it was too intense for them.
Police use the Tueller Rule-a perpetrator within 21 feet can attack an officer before they can draw and fire. So 21 feet (although controversial) is the minimum reaction gap to prepare for the attack ~ from a police perspective. So disrupting the bad guy’s movie ( great analysis) in this distance makes great sense, and definitely within “ land mine” distance. Nice video 👍 *edit: also can’t give them one shot then step back to admire your work. Gotta go all in if you’re going in
Am short and I’ve been loners most of my life including when I homeless!! I slept in a car for ten years and that whole time outside of the cops yanking at me there were no problems!! An attacker is a predator and what attacker do they look for weak people !! So when your out and about make sure you don’t look like a mark and remember everyone has eyes and a throat if attacked they’re calling your name and letting the attacker know looks can be deceiving and letting him or her know you’re not anyone’s mark !!

Great advice, though I have ironed out a few deaf fellas by mistake.
Well it's their fault they where with a group of bad people but that's good advice.
😂😂 No one seems to get the joke
I worked in law enforcement for about ten years, and this is accurate.
However I learned a long time ago that throwing closed fist punches is not a great idea, it’ll work, but it will cause problems for the rest of your day, week or even month.
Something that I’ve done several times is throw a low kick at the about to be forward leg/knee.
It doesn’t have to be hard but it’s enough to cause them to have balance issues, you are then close enough for grappling.
Only if you are caught. Don't stay behind and wait for the police after a fight.
@@mr.anti.conservatives-u6f I believe the "not a great idea" is that it damages the nerves in your hand. Not that you're going to get in more trouble.
I wouldn’t plan to grapple unless you are a judo expert
The aggressor may be stronger and better at it than you.
I certainly couldn’t due to medical issues 😮
You wouldn't want to grapple with someone unless you were a pro wrestler/judo expert/etc that is stupid advice.
😂🙌
Usually the aggressor will try to instigate their victim to be the aggressive one in a altercation. Perfect situation for the "bully" or aggressor to play innocent or to be seen as the one defending. Make note of this, the aggressor will insult/ disrespect and say or do anything to make you look like the violent one. Have discretion who you choose to be around. Take heart for peace and truth.
Thanks for sharing this👍🏻
Great advice and as I do BJJ I would always start to defend myself with strikes, the actul purpose of which are to compel my attacker to come in close to try and grapple with me.
Great job guys 😎
Thanks!
Thank you!😁👊🏻
Excellent. Love the landmine analogy. Thank you both
Thank you Gary!
Big lesson I learned when I was 10. Don’t talk about it. Do it first when they are talking absolute shite.
Couldn't agree more👍🏻
Came home with a black eye once after a night on the town. Dad: ‘were you talking when you should have been listening?’ 😂
Put your hands up in a Self Defensive frame.
This way, you can, if anyone is filming you with their cell phone,
you can say that you didn't want to fight.
Nowadays cameras are EVERYWHERE, even if you think they're not.
And if you land in court, taking the first punch may still land you in jail.
If the other guy has a good lawyer, his lawyer will be able to show
that you used EXCESSIVE VIOLENCE even if it was supposedly defending yourself.
Cops really aren't great at sorting out who the "bad guy" is,
SO USE YOUR HEAD - BEFORE YOU USE YOUR FISTS!
That's a very good point Dave
*But is the first thing I am doing in the thumbnail ;)
Great advice lads… I did chuckle with the cone throw 🤣🤣
😂😂😂 thank you mate! Appreciate your support as always👊🏻
I am glad I found you guys. I am training Krav Maga myself and did boxing in the past. I love constantly improving myself so your videos are amazing. Discovered you guys yesterday and binged like 10 videos already 🙂
Also trained in Krav Maga great way to learn self defence and improve fitness
Thanks a million!! Glad you are watching
@@stuartboys260thanks and great!
Very practical advices.Good job as always.
Thanks so much!
@simpleselfdefence_ thank you too.
feign a step back, make them think youre retreating, before launching forward at them.
double the confusion.
That's what we call in Spain "The crossbow"
@raullm6820 Great name for it🎉
Good info.
Agreed👍🏻 thanks so much for sharing!
You guys are awesome. Respect from Sydney Australia.
Thanks amigo!!
Cool, down-to-earth advice for the common man. Stay safe.
Thank you👍🏻
Superman punch, that was the end of the video. You did well telling people how to get themselves arrested
How many people do u know who have been arrested because of it??
Very useful thank you. Though was half expecting someone to come and park right next to them...
😂 we make the best out of what we've got!
Tu ingles es maravilloso😂😂😂😂.Buen video.
Gracias Peter!
@raullm6820 De nada,un abrazo y feliz año👍👍👍👍👍
@@pedroseoane6531 igualmente!
That's for the feedback and for watching!
Looks like good advice to me. The gent with the cone nearly got one in there! Damned good job there wasn't any gelato in it! 🌟👍
😂🙏
Good video. Glad to see you channel is growing.
Ah, thank you so much! Hope you are well👊🏻
I know how to deal with this, I don’t think RUclips will let me say what I believe to be the correct answer.
The wealdstone raider never gets old 😂
Brilliant video, well done guys 👏
I don’t hear enough people talking about gaining an advantage before it kicks off.
My 3 As
Awareness
Avoidance
Advantage
If shit is about to go down you want to gain every & any advantage you can before your forced to defend yourself & engage.
Love this👊🏻 thanks so much for sharing mate!
I like the step back slip counter
Very good tip 👍
Thanks!
I always carry a traffic cone... XD. Seriously, though, yes. It is always about not playing their game. Thanks.
😂never leave home without mine!
Great presentation👍Happy new year!
Happy New Year to you mate!
4:10 remember the most important step. You must say "mate, mate, mate" at least 3 times. Very useful video guys.
thanks
😂thank U!
Thank you.
Thank you for warchin
Cheers Paul👍🏻
I used this years ago several times when I was threatened on building sites by my men. Instead of running away as expected I advanced & often it put the bloke off as he expected something different. He would stop & I could calm the situation.
I picked up the idea from an SAS officer who said that if a small group was caught & outnumbered instead of retreat they were trained to advance, knowing that if they tried to retreat they would lose anyway. Sometimes that tactic threw the enemy into disarray because they did not expect it & the SAS group managed to survive.
😂 Comedy Gold
Keep em coming boys, this is priceless
Thanks for watching
Thanks for another good video.👍
No problem! Thank you for watching👊🏻
Excellent. Just found this channel and subscribed. Thank you.
Thank you!!
GOOD SHIT. MANY THANKS.
Thank you for watching!
You know things are bad when self defense videos like this have to be made but I understand why the amount of times I have been approached by someone looking for a fight because they think they can get one over you I live in Birmingham UK and this sort of thing happens every now and then thanks for the video it was helpful 👍👍
Hear hear... Thank you for watching!
It's all about timing
Im an oldie and watch a lot of these self defence videos TBH most are a load of crap , this however is not ,excellent realistic solutions without the ego Bullshittery that seem to be the norm nowadays , BE FIRST ,BE NASTY, WALK FASTER 👍 new subscriber
Thanks so much for this lovely feedback! Great to have you aboard😁👊🏻
I second that! 👍
Thank you Mates Happy New Year

Breakfalling is an underestimated skill . I would have been permanently done I reckon if I didn't know to put my chin to chest going backwards saved my life I reckon
Great video thanks guys
Good advice!
Thank you!👍🏻
Fair enough
👍🏻
Good luck with these techniques
And when you're in court, anyone who saw what happened will say you threw the first punch and started the fight. You get to wear the pretty orange jumpsuit. Better to put all that training you did by sidestepping and counter punching. It sucks to be a martial artist because the law is always against you but it's what we have to put up with and we get to survive... hopefully.
4:38 lol better to throw something
Lol. What court is that?
@@dreed7312 Criminal court.
@@dreed7312- don't be funny. When the person who punched first who is now up on a GBH charge.
Sound advice , good content !
Thanks Stephen!
Awesome advice, clear and concise.
I liked and subscribed ❤
Thanks amigo!!
I'll definitely throw the cone
Very informative, thank you. Subscribed.
Thank you!
Your welcome
In this situation left foot forward with a wide stance this means you can move back avoiding strike and move forward over quite a distance and strike
Yes agreed... But cold blood and some self control is trainable and usually (imo) gets better with age
Good stuff. It has worked for me.
Cheers Dan👊🏻
That's fitting talk where l come from .
A gents outfitters?
Police use the Tueller Rule-a perpetrator within 21 feet can attack an officer before they can draw and fire. So 21 feet (although controversial) is the minimum reaction gap to prepare for the attack ~ from a police perspective. So disrupting the bad guy’s movie ( great analysis) in this distance makes great sense, and definitely within “ land mine” distance. Nice video 👍
*edit: also can’t give them one shot then step back to admire your work. Gotta go all in if you’re going in
Thanks for the input!!
I love these helpful tips. Please add me to a subscriber.
It's true that everyone has a camera in their pockets and will quickly 911 you.
But I'd rather have sore knuckles than black eyes and broken teeth.

Thank you Terry. Really appreciate this feedback👍🏻
Always do a 'collision test' before say 10 yards if the guy looks dodgy. Step to the side to 'give way'. See if he re-aligns. You can also check for aggression if they're calling you like "not today, thanks".
Really good advice ❤
Cheers Roy!
