    John,
    I do like to have the valve stem guide at the top. Many of loco models in Ga. 1 doesn't
    have it to support the stem at the front of the chest. The front tip of the stem stops
    short of the front steam chest wall.
    1. Don't you need to drill a hole thru at the top valve stem guide? Else, the stem would
    go forward into the guide (sleeve) and compresses the air? Needs an air release hole?
    2. So, you don't use gland packing or an O-Ring at the valve stem's entrance to the steam
    chest?
