For more complex models I found out, its best to remodel them again when it gets too overwhelming and geometry is breaking when modifiing the model. This way one learns a lot about different design approaches and efficienc modeling
100%. I often use the fast method to "rough" a design. When its something that needs to be printed, machined, molded etc then i recreate it with that MFG in mind. Another thing that helps is if you get in a bind. derive the body/component into a new file and direct model :)

One suggestion I have to elaborate on this is to look in to how to handle the changes when there is another component which might be using this base component as its reference. In other words when component 2 relies on component 1.. when component 1 changes it causes big trouble for component 2 which has dependencies. Autodesk did a good seminar on this. Maybe the best way to deal with this is to make sure components are individual and not reliant on other parts in the design.
Thats a good point Rich. I think the key is to use the Efficient workflow to make sure you know how designs will update. There are multiple ways to do this and honestly i usually go to a body workflow over a component workflow and convert them downstream. Ill give some thought to a follow on talking about that.
I suggest on the first approach, when you drew the circle from which you only used the center point for the hole command, that you'd be better off with just the point instead of the circle. I use points so often that I added them to the sketch toolbar. I feel they're underutilized.
Thanks Bill. I do agree that the circle isn't needed when Point is ideal, but Point doesn't have a default shortcut key on the keyboard which is why i chose to use circle. When i used to do this all the time in other software I would assign Q to the point tool, but in Fusion that is Press Pull by default. I always avoid customization of my UI as to not throw off someone learning. If I were doing this all the time for speed I would 100% use point on a shortcut key.

You talked about customizing Fusion to be fast efficent and accurate at the same time. Sometimes I struggle with reminding me to create a new component immediately at the start. Is there a way to make a startup file whch would already contain a component inside the root element?
Unfortunately there aren't any "templates" that I know of. You could create a script that runs at the startup I suppose. It definitely has to be a thought when getting started sadly. I will give a little thought to the script.
