And the reason why he did that was because the storyline was to make Shawn Michaels return in 2002 a memorable one because he just had back surgery so he was worried he wasn't the performer he was back in 1998 so triple h being his friend helped Shawn and even became a heel to make Shawn return a good one and even made Shawn win the world heavyweight champion at survivor series in 2002.

I remember watching this match with my sisters and my cousin brother, I was the youngest among them about 7 year old. This match was so intense and remember everyone in my family cheering for HBK, now that time is gone only memories remains. Good old days.

That m atch vs venom is on RUclips . I like how his entrance music sound in indie wrestling hall because they didn' had huge audio systems like wwe.
This was the first ever Wrestling match I ever watched and it made me an instant fan of Shawn. Eventually as I watch this feud continue and develop for almost three years, it made me a fan of Triple H as well. And to this day they are still my top two favorite wrestlers of all time.
In my opinion Earl Hefner Refree should be in Hall of Fame. His matches he called was always good and straight down to the end and even if something didn’t go well he would let you know and even fight back some times

I was there with my dad. God rest his soul,, miss him so much.. This was the main event for us. Zero interest in Rock Lesnar. All these years later and regardless of what rock and Lesnar became zero regrets for leaving after this match. Wrestling pretty much ended forever in my opinion around this time. We saw the first elimination chamber a few months later. HBK hadn't missed a step.

I remember thinking throughout the match just how good HBK was doing despite his 4 year layoff (alot of people don't know but he did work one match during that time for his TWA promotion. He faced "Venom" who I think was Paul Diamond in what they would call a hardcore match nowadays but I forget what they called it back then.) I was thinking, I hoped he'd make a real full time Comeback but after the match the Triple H attack made me think "ah damn. This is what they're going to use for an excuse so he won't come back full time." Lol. Ultimately things worked out though, for HBK.
