The HIGHLANDER Experience (In the UK!) - Will's World

Global hiking event, HIGHLANDER, is finally coming to the UK, more specifically to the stunning Lake District National Park, and OM editor Will
was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to attend a kind-of trial event/taster event ahead of its launch in 2023.
HIGHLANDER, in case you’re not already familiar with it, challenges hikers to take on a 50km hike over three days or a 100km hike over five days. At each HIGHLANDER event, a fully mapped route is provided, hikers are provided with food and water, safety teams are on hand and the HIGHLANDER team can also take care of things like equipment transfer and tent pitching should anyone need it.
Founded in Croatia in 2017, the series has expanded to France, Portugal, Italy, Slovenia, the States and now the UK, with the inaugural event set to be held on the 5th of July 2023.

😆 I nearly always backpack solo and prefer it that way normally but I did enjoy this event. The people who run it are genuine long-distance walkers too, so it'll be run in a sympathetic way for the park and for others. Will
