Was 21, saw them on this release. Tulsa OK, summer 1975, outside arena. Allowed beer in. Sloshed around in beer mud under the hot OK sun. It was unforgettable.
There is Clapton, Page, and all of those other blues craftsmen but Hendrix had one favorite guitarist and he is the man you are listening to right now !
You can just imagine the feelings of those audience members witnessing the very early start of perhaps one of the greatest bands of Texas Americana ever! ZZ top will always be one of my top all time favorite bands period. Not really into the 80's pop music they produced, however, they redeemed themselves with their album, Antenna, and the hard hitting song named Sleeping Bag. Sleeping bag is the 1970's all over again for me imho. Long live ZZ Top!
Me! I was 21, Tulsa, open stadium. Allowed us to bring in beer. Sloshed around in beer mud jammin. Unforgettable. I'm 65 now with great rock and roll memories of my concert days late 60s onward. So fortunate, all unfolded as I was unfolding from a teen onward.
In the early 70s we teens made a nuisance of ourselves jamming the juke box with this one at every joint in South Tahoe that had it on the machine. Me and my bud Ron got to see them on the Tres Hombres tour 2nd on bill to Steve Miller at Winterland. They did not play this, mostly the new album and just blasting jams that went on like on Bar-B-Cue WOW. Since then many times. same bill w/The Cult, w/Jeff Beck, solo at Harvey's Tahoe outdoors, never a minute of a show not 100% full-tilt. No filler material with these guys, they only play The Good Stuff. Hope to see the new line-up too.
Saw these guys in 1991 in Toledo, Ohio. One kick ass show. Was always a fan but that was my first chance to see them live. MTV introduced me to them in the early 80’s as did radio. But live? Sheeeeit... I’ve seen hundreds of all the best bands you can name. This was one of my favorite shows not because of anything special as far as show goes. What made it special was ZZTop doing what they do best. Can’t get much better. Name the band and i’ve probably seen them but this band always stands alone. They need a new category of music and should just be called ZZTop!!! All others only WISH they could imitate...
dofphish Oh yeah man! They absolutely blew the roof off Hampton Coliseum,VA when I saw them in 1979 and to this day they are one of the 3 best concerts I’ve ever seen.
We had the Album and one of our Guitarist had the lick down before I had heard of them- we saw them in a High School Gym in Iowa - near Truman State in Mo
The Top came to Pittsburgh- I think it was ‘73 or ‘74- and the had a stage shaped like Texas, with Longhorn steers walking around while they performed. And Probly chickens, etc. I forget how many tractor trailers it took to move their show from city to city- some ungodly amount. Good stuff!👍🎸🥁🇺🇸❤️
@@davemoyer505 Lol. I was wondering around down on 6th street in Austin back in 91 or 92' - I forget when. Early 90's. A lot of bands jamming in the clubs. We came across a vacant lot between some buildings, and there was a ZZ Top tribute band kicking ass up on the shitty old stage. After a few, we realized it was actually them getting together for a jam. No fees, no advertising, just fk it. Haha
Nick Erlanger nice job Nick Paranoid your not smoking the right strain :-( find the one that works for you brother your love for this kind of thing will be greatly enhanced :-) rock on rocker. free the weed.

Just got the news today....R.I.P. Dusty. Gone to play in that little ol' Hill Country ice house in the sky. Peace, bass player.
This how live day to day
That's ZZ before becomes pop culture band. Absolutely bluesy and juicy.
Billy has sort of returned to his roots with his solo stuff.
The later stuff was still really good. They successfully moved with the times and still stayed original.
All ZZ is good ZZ, don’t slander.
There is Clapton, Page, and all of those other blues craftsmen but Hendrix had one favorite guitarist and he is the man you are listening to right now !
I'm amazed at just how many songs they have, and so many good ones.
Just saw them in concert Friday night. First time I saw them was 1973. Yes I'm old but still able to boogie.
Been a zz top fan since about 1976
Now Dusty has passed on
I JUST KEEP ON LOVIN Y’ALL

The solo on Sharped Dressed Man is awesome don't you agree?

One of the most classic jams if all time.

I keep coming back, again, thanks for posting this Nick!
Because of this video I learned La Grange is the namesake of both a great ZZTop song and a city in Texas.
Lot of noise for three guys...good stuff

Which tour was it where they had chickens, pigs and goats walking around on stage? I forget. I was wasted at the time.
