    Hello again roger , i managed to finally get round to doing a massive slug test not unlike your own with my .25 50ftlb redwolf ( before the covid 19 lockdown might i add) , i tested H&N 33g,35g,37g,39g,41g , inferno slugs in 34g, nielson slugs in 36.2g....and .. .nearly there....prohunters in 30g,32g,38g, the 30g and 32g prohunters shot the best by far at 100 yards, and all of them shot good at 50 yards, so now its a long wait until this lockdown finishes before i can get out again to test past 100yards, stay safe in the meantime roger and dont forget to keep washing them hands ! Cheers

    just watched your vid. LOVE my RWhp, it shoots slugs much better than I expected? NSA 20.2's and actually the Fx 22.5's shoot really well, haven't stretched it out past 65yds but no reason to doubt they won't shoot to 100yds no problem!

      Well I have tried all three .25 slug weights. The 30 and 38 were ok with the 30g grouping around .75 of an inch at 50 yards, the 38 slightly worse and slower and the 32 grain are too long for my FX Crown magazine , but groups were not good. I have my .25 Crown shooting almost single hole groups with 25.4g JSB pellets at circa 955fps. The 33.95 g JSB King heavy does 845fps and also one hole groups. I tried with my standard pellet barrel and also the Slug liner barrel. It’s a pity the accuracy was not as good as pellets, I will have to wait and try the JSB slugs and the Fx hybrid slugs, hopefully next month,

    Enjoyed your video! Are .30 caliber slugs available for my Daystate Red Wolf HP in .30 caliber? What is necessary to setup my Red Wolf HP rifle to shoot .30 caliber slugs. I also have a FX Impact X with 700mm barrel but I don't want to go through the complicated set up and expense to shoot slugs out of it.

    👍👏👏 thanks for the great video. It proves that you don’t need a fx stx slug liner barrel to shoot slugs 👍. Wondering what the minimum ftlb rifle is needed to shoot these🤔

    • @TripleGRogerLait
      @TripleGRogerLait  5 лет назад +1

      To be honest I would say around 30 ft/lb odd . Try and see is the best bet boss . Good luck

    Excellent video roger ! During your slug tests did you try them with or without a sound moderator on your redwolf? Did they perform better without it?

    • @TripleGRogerLait
      @TripleGRogerLait  5 лет назад +1

      Paul Ham Hi there , I tried with a mod and made no difference really . What did make a difference was a tiny bit of lube on the slugs , made the groups better for sure .

    • @PaulHamM3
      @PaulHamM3 5 лет назад +1

      Thanks for replying roger, im just waiting for the bloody weather to sort it self out and then i can give these prohunter slugs a good try ( with lube) , i use a high power redwolf in .25 but with only a standard barrel and not a ART so im wondering if its going to group well with slugs or not ....time and testing will tell i guess !

    Roger,
    on the money with those slugs working wonders at 100 & 133 as you say in the video you have now to be very careful with what is way beyond the target as a back stop this is bullet territory !. You mentioned the Bipod what is it exactly ? As you know i am a fan of EVO & Tier one bipods but i want a good but slightly cheaper bipod for the "brat rifle". Thanks for all the work you put in looking forward to more good stuff. When you going to hilight those range finder bino's i saw you using saturday ?

    Hi roger amazing vid .i am thinking of a daystate safari 65 ft pound
    In 22 will it shoot the slugs do you think .i don’t think they have the art barrel in 22 .will pellets stay stable at that ft pound . All the best

    • @TripleGRogerLait
      @TripleGRogerLait  4 года назад

      Hi buddy , thank you so much, glad you liked the video . Always nice to hear that . Yes the Safari will shoot slugs and shoot them well too .
      Yes the Safari in .22 has the ART barrel and yes it works a treat . The power you are talking about would suggest a heavier slug , the Howler slugs are 20.3 so “might” me a tad light . I would go for a 27 or 30 grain odd ? Wildman slugs work super well out of the Safari as I have seen . You would not be unhappy . Lucky you is what I say 👍😀

      timyd2009 Hi there , I am getting 0.0750 with the 22.8’s and 0.0780 with the 28’s . They work seriously well to be honest. I will be testing a bunch more for sure . I love these things !!

  • @PeakyBlinder

    You don't find a slug your gun likes you find a speed your slug likes with any gun.
    Wind down the speed to gain the tightest group, don't go buying lots of different slugs,
    Every slug has its dedicated speed.
    Buy a tin and find the speed it likes.

    Where is your Bsa Goldstar? You used to rave about it. Tried those slugs in my fac mk4 with poor results. Waaaay over priced and poor in comparison to H&N, NSA and the JSB Knockouts look promising.

      Yes I agree , I think much further too but I keep it real to about 150 yards max . Don’t want to injure an animal and not be able to follow up as it were .
