It's how you use the double pivots
When you use double pivots you need to have overlapping full backs and sometimes one of the double pivots should be able to play box to box

There are a couple of big issues, the space needed to cover, but also the aggression. The space in between the lines, the amount of effort applied, it all combines to form what happened.

@@ZekkoFootball well said, doesn't happen enough in the biased Southern/London mainstream press. Not just anti-NUFC, though they generally are, but anyone who beats a big 6 team is often either lucky, or there's some kind of dodgy decision and/or the "big" team played badly. How about credit to the opposition for making them play badly (e.g. a high press forcing defensive errors) or just look bad (like this game, with tactics/formation).
So again, nice one and stay neutral with your analysis!

  • @kywong951

Midfield overwhelmed and defence was weak. There were 5 Man U players in the defensive line. Somethg is wrong when the crosses come in so easily. Both goals were frm headers.

    • @kiheiarima6164
      @kiheiarima6164 18 дней назад +1

Should point out that when the Midfield is overwhelmed the Defence will always look weak, part of the strength of the Newcastle attack right now is ofc, Sandro & Bruno but both are outstanding Def Mids too, both can pass and both can tackle, they can hunt (as a pair it seems), they can advance the play, they can support (each other especailly well) so they can interchange. The wing backs were simply overrun and as a result failed to contribute in either offense or defense.
Both of these players also wil drop back and defend like their lives depend on it though too - they protect their backline - Casimiro and Erikson - as great as they are (and both _are_ great players) simply didnt have the capacity to do this, so they failed to protect their backline and left them exposed
The Midfield is always the crux of a team in both attack and defence and NUFC epitomize this atm - and then you add Joe, the man is a total savage,, and can score, hold the balll, can pass, link, dribble, and more so with those 3 alone, before you start adding the wide men, you are gonna need a really good midfield to stand a chance (and the best and most important bit is - they all want to do all these things for 90 minutes), and ManUre did not have that at any point, they didnt have it when the team sheet was published, they didnt have it when a goal was scored and they didnt have it when the final whistle went, their substitutions stabilized the situation somewhat, but in the past (and going back to the days of Alex Ferguson here) they would have put on subs who could turn it around
There were points where they could have got a draw, the had the chances, but they would have been gifted it by our own profligacy off the ball if it had happened, Man U wil probably not be relegated but their problems do not entirely lie with their choice of manager, the culture at the club seems wrong, the players seem off - the talent is there and tbh, the treatment of the lad subbed in the first half was shocking bad form.
Sorry, hit a bit of a rant here - not aimed at you specifically @kywong951 Just started typing a reply and here we are :D

No brave shooters in the Man Utd team. That's the difference. When the opposition defend in a tight forest formation, you need good long-range shooters to score. There was no one courageous to do that (except for a couple). You don't even have time to think about doing it, you just have to take your chances in the moment when you are reasonably placed well to shoot at the goal. I'm talking about a player like Jhon Duran, who can score from any place really - from outside the goal, close to the goal, at a wide angle to the goal, straight ahead at the goal, with 3 or 4 defenders surrounding him ... Man Utd have to develop a player to be like that because it looks like they won't be able to get one during the next transfer window. You need a smart player who is mentally in full control to take those shots. Both Bruno and Dalot do those long shots occasionally but they aren't great long-range finishers. I would ask them to stop doing them. Antony has shown he has the willingness to take them and his shots are strong, but he's not accurate. Training has to be focused on training forwards to take long range shots, and maybe a talent like Duran will be discovered. Maybe the player can play as a super-sub, and with fresh legs be brought in the latter part of the game to take his chances.
In the PL, the scoring is going to be hard. Training during practice must involve setting up a forest of cut-out players impeding the field of view. This is to break through the psychology of players seeing a dense defence in front of them, and shooting too wide or too high. The players should be trained to shoot THROUGH the cut-outs. The emphasis should be shooting on target. The next skill to be trained would be to shoot HARD. So two things: On target and hard. No fancy curve balls or lobs. Just those two things. This will be enough to break through the psychological barrier. If the player does not score despite doing these two things, there will be second balls from deflections and also corners and free kicks, and this will create another opportunity to score.
During transfer windows, they must look for a player like Duran. They are more likely to be found in the South American leagues, as the forwards play a more direct style there. Or they can look in the academy for such a player. Even the Championship may have hidden gems who can score like this - Vardy was discovered in the fourth division. Gyokeres came from the Championship. No famous names anymore - that's how Man Utd has become a retirement house or they get ripped off with youth with potential. Get someone unknown. And don't pay a lot of dough for them. They get big heads if they get paid huge amounts. If they don't want to come to Man Utd unless they're paid a fortune, so be it. There are many many good long range scorers out there - you have to scout and negotiate contracts with that mentality.
In a way it would be good if the club get relegated. It would mean the Glazers leave. That would be the best thing to happen to the club. In a way, it's regrettable that Sir Jim stepped in. The Glazers looking for investors meant they were in trouble financially. The club could have been bought for a good price if the Glazers had decided to bail out. I believe bad investors (Glazers and the lenders who lent them money) should pay for their own mistakes. They should be the ones who take the hit and go under financially.
Anyway that's water under the bridge. I feel so sorry for Amorim right now. He could have had further success with Sporting and also could have gone to a well-managed club. Even Wolves would have been a better club to join - no debt, great squad (many Portuguese speaking players including Portuguese players) - but he didn't. (And now Wolves have a very promising coach in Vitor Pereira.) And if Man Utd go down, he will be given all the blame, something which he doesn't deserve at all.
The hope is that if they go down, the Glazers leave the club, and the club can start afresh again. Sir Jim should cut his losses and leave the club, and not go for a big mismanaged club if he wants to invest in a club again.
Amorim can go to new pastures - maybe to a small underrated club in the PL or even in the Championship if he wants to stay in England - to test his abilities as a coach. I think small-club projects suit him better - eg. Sporting. LCFC, for instance, would have been a great project for him.
