    I have a charbroil infared gas grill. I lay my wood chips right on the grill. I get a really good smokey flavor.

    For short duration grilling such as steaks, fish, chicken just buy a 4 to 6” inch smoke tube as they will still burn for a couple of hours and you wont waste so much wood pellets trying to fill it to the opening so you can light it. Also, just hit it with the flame for a good minute or so none stop and it wont go out.

    Oh how sad those great steaks looked as you incinerated or cremated them. I did like the idea of the smoke tube though. I really would suggest learning to use a sous vide and then using the smoker and the Webber to add the sear.
