    Thank you for voicing this! I can't tell you how many blogs I read in which people are completely rejecting chemical meds/treatments because they are not natural and think they're dangerous, but these same people recommend feeding high amounts of a "natural" product, with the reasoning that because it comes from plants, it must be safe. And here I am thinking to myself, what about all the plants that are toxic? What about arsenic, cyanide, anthrax, digitalis, etc etc that all come from plants or the dirt they grow in? How much of that plant product is safe? How much of it is needed in order to be effective? What kind of side effects does it have? Are there long term hazards we should be aware of? No, no, no. Don't think scientifically, that's not natural.
    Sorry for ranting. I really appreciate the educational videos you create for us.

    As usual, great video Tim. I have a question about one of my goats having fluid around his front knees. It IS fluid and it looks smaller than the size of a tennis ball. He is walking stiff and I’ll have my vet out next week to look at them. Is there anything that can be used to help support him, or a “natural” (lol) or OTC med that would be useful? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    Hey Tim, do you have a video that covers when and what or if, with regards to maintenance worming and medicating pregnant does/ewes and after birthing kids/lambs for the overall health of the mothers and their offspring? I thought i had heard you talk about what to give and when, but i can't seem to find it again. Again, I'm not talking about a sick animal, just as Maintenance doses to protect the mother and offspring. We're about a month out from our first time kidding and we gave our mom's the cd&t vaccine but I am about to go into information overload just trying to glean a much as i can before they get here. I see most wormers say not to give to pregnant animals, but i was thinking that the mothers were supposed to get something before birthing. I did order some Rumensin and Deccox 10 from you, but everything is so jumbled up in my head that I'm not even sure who gets it when. I'm hoping that you have one comprehensive video that covers all of this. Thank you for all of the research that you do to provide us with such great advice!

      Unless they need it, you would probably be best off waiting and worming them at the time of delivery. Many of the producers will worm their moms in the lambing/kidding pen. There is usually an uptick in the worm burden around lambing/kidding time. We prefer to use Dectomax at a rate of 1ml as an IM injection per 110 pounds of body weight.

    Why is corid bad? And what would you use instead?

    • @LinessaFarms
      @LinessaFarms  Год назад +2

      Corid kills coccidia by impairing thiamine absorption. Unfortunately, it also significantly impairs the host from absorbing thiamine as well. This can and often leads to a very sick animal that will need injections of thiamine in order to prevent neurological side effects such as an inability to stand or walk and also potential eyesight issues. Your veterinarian can prescribe other medications such as sulfa which may work better without the side effects. Corid is sold over the counter but the thiamine you need is only available from the vet.
      Toltrazuril is probably the best medication and safest we have found for coccidia.

    Can tapeworms cause anemia on a 2 year old goat? I found white worms on my milker goat saanen,We consume the milk and worried if giving her safeguard or valbazen We won’t be able to drink it , Recommendations please 🙏

    • @LinessaFarms
      @LinessaFarms  Год назад

      If you see worms, she has worms. I would advise worming your goat. Withdrawal time for safeguard is 4 days for milk.
