  • What if I told you, that you can start the Airbus like a Boeing? Have you ever noticed the "MAN START" push buttons on the overhead in the A320 family? In this video I will walk you through a manual engine start procedure for the Airbus. There are several reasons why one would need to do a manual start and I will have those outlined for you here. Enjoy!

    What happens when FADEC fails? - I would not start up that plane at all and give it to maintenance :D But thanks for the tutorial it´s good to see all details and sub-systems simulated.

    Hi
    Thanks for posting this tutorial. .
    Since the push button opens the starter valve and the FADEC closes it
    What's the need to switch off the button again?

    I thought manual engine start was not implemented in Toliss. last time (that I m aware) there was manual start in A32x was in PSS Airbus back in MSFS2000 or 2002...

    • @V1Sim
      @V1Sim  3 года назад +1

      Yes you can! In theory you can manual start off a cross bleed as well, it would just be a pain! Multiple checklist to flip back and forth too, sounds like a good idea for a stream now that I think about it 😉

    What is N1 Mode beside man switch?

    • @V1Sim
      @V1Sim  3 года назад

      For purposely eliminating the FADEC should you lose a single fadec, that way you can force both engines into N1 mode, instead of 1 EPR and 1 N1

    Captain, What is the difference between pressing Manual Engine Start (GUARDED pB) and auto start Engine master on? I do not understand the starter limitation that “starter must not be run when N2>20%; what does it mean?

    • @peteconrad2077
      @peteconrad2077 3 года назад

      In a manual start, the guarded man start button starts the air to the starter motor, ignition comes in automatically. the master switch in this case then starts the fuel flow.
      The N2 limitation is to avoid the starter engaging when the N2 is too high which would overspeed the starter and likely damage it. I had a stuck starter motor on an auto start and at about 30% N2 the the starter motor disintegrated, taking half the high pressure turbine with it and causing a quite spectacular fire, which went out as soon as we cut the master switch.

      @@peteconrad2077 x2. This would be the equivalent of being in a car w/engine already idling and turning the key to 'start' of course a automotive starter uses an electric motor that cranks with a toothed gear..this is bad if the starter gear meets a flywheel that's already spinning. this is similar.
