Tithing has brought me only pain. I have thithed all my tithes and even asked multiple bishops over years for help with food and none has ever been given to me. So for all those who act like everything is ok in each case are clearly wrong. Tell me how does a full tithe payer and worthy member get no help. How does a full tithe payer not have the opportunity to get a job. Why does the Church talk so bad about government hand outs but that is all a full tithe payer gets. Why complain about people who tithe SSI. The blessings of tithing has never come to me.
What kind of bishops are you asking for help from? All bishops in the LDS church are supposed to reach out and lend a helping hand to those who are within their ward and are struggling with any types of issues. Bishops have responsibilities and taking care of those that are in his ward is one of them. If the bishop is unable to solve your problem then you can try talking to your stake president to sort it out.
Some churches will help with the food. This is from the April 2005 general conference from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. This could be altered.
Have faith!! When you pay to the church, maybe see the video of where that tithing goes!! Pay it, no matter what….sometimes you just need to trust the promises of the Lord. Read the two promises he makes in the scriptures!! Just out of fun, we call it fire insurance….ha, ha…but really not funny. You are saved and mega blessed when you do, I have been there, done that, and I watch one who won’t. She always needs help. Crooks take advantage of her, mice are infesting her home, and she does not always have helpers to help her with maintenance. She was lucky to have help to get a squatter out.
I like this principle….I have tried it, and because I do, I gain surprising blessings. You pay when you are poor, and you pay when you are middle income, upper-middle, well-to do, or rich. You just pay….
To all who think that what he's saying is wrong, really it's not. He deliberately states that the bishop can help you with your food. And not only that. The tithing is more about sacrificing to god for blessings in return.

But it's not the mission's responsibility to do that. It's the governments back in the day when the church was the government. Then yes but they no longer have that responsibility and passing around a collection plate at a Mega church is just horrible because Mega churches do not care about their. People they say they do but then whenever a hurricane comes and the cities flooded they refused to open their doors..

People should not be tithing ssi or social security. That is not income.
