These older talks are great to listen to. You really gain a lot from looking back on them.

I love that song, “The World has Need of Willing Men”….I was never happier than when I was able to work. I loved working, and being more self-reliant.

An eloquent and biblically errant representation of biblical tithing. Monetizing the tithe was man's idea after the bible was written.

It was never about money specifically. The Book of Mormon and Pearl of Great Price add more clarity to that. Abraham paid tithes to Melchizedek. Back in that time it was more about growth in herds and materials than it was about money. Since money is so prevalent today, and far more stable than it used to be, we use money to as our tithe offerings.
Even so, the widow at the treasury (widows mite) in the New Testament definitely gave money in a form of tithe. Money has been used for tithe for many years predating the Bible. The Bible itself wasn’t fully assembled for many years after Christ’s apostles passed on. Thus I believe your somewhat mistaken, though I can get behind that monetization became more common/practical in later time periods.
This man’s words aren’t errant they are spot on. Tithing has never truly changed since God commanded man to give it in ancient times. It is mainly to serve us, so we can be faithful, and sacrifice what we have so as to show God a little faith and gratitude, as well as help the church, and all those within its reach.
If your curious about any of this I can mention some sources for you to look up.

With my faith faltering, I searched for guidance as I doubt my ability and need to obey the law of tithing. On paper, the numbers say I can't afford to. My heart and head say I can't afford not to. 🤞🙏 we'll see what happens.

H😊o567 how can tithing of your income which was never required by God ever be a blessing

because it's not Scriptural but it's motivated by fear obligation and guilt

I am trying to convince a poor girl to pay a full tithe. She has a bad mice infestation in her house. I bet that the Lord will help her with what she needs if she does pay. He will help her in whatever way she needs.
