most people are are excited to see it and ask me all the important details how fast it goes how far and how much a few ask me how well it can climb local places in town only trouble i had is one guy telling me the trail wasnt for me i just stared at him blankly in total silence with a flat expression on my face till he felt so awkward about the situation he walked away grumbling to himself most folks cant take someone just not responding to them it drives them nuts and or makes them feel weirded out its my go to when dealing with dumb people in public
I have never had anyone say anything to me directly yet, I have read some comments on FB and also YT from people who say anyone who rides a e bike is lazy, or fat and lazy or are just rich, I am non of those but due to damage in my knees and hips, arthritis everywhere, and chronic pain I have not been able to ride a regular bike for years, I bought a e bike and is a life changer for me, I now ride everywhere and love it, my daughter and friends can't believe how I now ride my e bike everywhere, so we all have a story and narrow minded people can think what they want
I have ridden with a road cycling group. Every single one of them was very kind and considerate of me. I even wrote my mountain bike with them. That being said, I have often said, standing Eye 2 Eye with someone is much more difficult to be disrespectful. So I believe a lot of this starts online. As far as all the squirrels, jumping out in front of you. I’m pretty sure they are young squirrels. They have several buddies in the weed watching. Every time one runs in front of you if you listen closely you will hear from the weed.” DUDE, I CAN’T BELIEVE HE DID IT. HE JUMPED RIGHT IN FRONT OF THAT HUMAN.” Lol. Enjoy your vacation.

Its when someone on a regular non electric bike calls you a cheater for riding an electric bike. Meaning you are not really riding a bike, your just letting th emotor do all the work.
I get it all the time. No matter where I ride. If I’m in the street a driver in a car will say I don’t belong in the street and on the trails I’m not allowed there bc it’s got a motor and I actually take the time to stop and educate about the classes of e-bikes and combustion motors which in my area signs are referring to gas powered scooters. Not e-bikes. Can’t win on an e-bike lol.

I've never been called a cheater, but I have had several dirty looks. I do think I'm a cheater, but I'm only cheating myself with my fitness/exercise. My main goal of cycling is the health/fitness benefits. I'm fit enough to ride regular bikes and do most of the time, so naturally, when I ride one of my e-bikes I feel like I'm cheating. When I encounter other e-bike riders I don't consider them cheating.
Enjoy your vacation and pool time, sounds like a plan. I only care for knowledge not opinions so being called a cheater wouldn't bother me. But I might ask the lesser knowledgeable person if having screws holding my knee together is cheating as well. Anyone can have an opinion but not everybody can have the knowledge and grace to be above ego battles with those with few brain cells or maybe they don't know how else to express their bad day. I am surprised they don't confuse you with the real cheater, Lance Armstrong, you do share a first name. I was called cheater by a spandex dude half my age, passing me by rather quickly. One time only. perhaps my age stops them from doing so. I do avoid the early and late times to avoid the crowds.
I wouldn't even give them the time of day, and just keep riding. If you know your in the right, then thats all that matters. They are just looking for confrontation when they make remarks.

When I use to ride when I was a girl, the first 3 speed that came out were called cheaters. When they have these fancy road bikes, the have assistance too,but in another way, by using there gears. The only true non cheaes,if you will, are kids that ride real bikes with no assistance.
How is riding an e bike “cheating”? Are you winning a prize you didn’t deserve riding one? Are you hiding the fact you ride an e-bike? I don’t get it. I ride by myself, honestly who gives a shit about what a few morons think. Every bike shop I go to sell and service e-bikes. Almost Every major bike brand has an e-bike line. Compared with walking, aren’t people riding bikes cheating? Compared with running are people walking cheating? It never ends. Most people I run into on my e-bike who start a conversation with me ask how much one costs because they want one.

I would look at it as rewarding yourself for all the effort you put in on regular bikes.
