Funny to hear of 2 “Big Dippers” with big accidents. There is another one you should have on here. Big Dipper at Krug Park, 1930, killing 4 and injuring 19. Sounds strangely similar too….in this case first car derailling on uphill chain then all of them coming off as chain kept going.

I rode Willard's Whizzer many times. As coasters go it was pretty tame. But it had some good banks and turns. It never caused you to lift out of your seat. The hills and turns were not steep. G forces held riders in place as the turns were sharp. There were no restraints in the cars. You sat three to a car but you straddled the seat and it was only one across like a log ride. Only rode 2 coasters in my lifetime. First the coaster at 'Dorney Park' in Allentown Pennsylvania. And my last ( the big 2nd one) was at 'Walt Disney World' with their 'Space Mountain'.
Eight people died when a roller coaster derailed in Iran in august 2001 (?) No-one mentions this, the worst roller coaster accident ever. It was under the radar of the western press and it's hard to find details, but would be worth investigating !
The worst roller coaster I’ve been on was Pegasus at my Olympus water and theme park because it has turns that will slam you into the car and there is one final turn that will make you slam into someone. I hated the ride even from the start
As an English gal I was sat here like I swear to god if big dipper isn’t number 1 I will be so mad as it was horrific, but gets left off so many lists due to it happening in the UK.
That last one was pretty nasty but the don’t know that I’d put the rest in the category of “worst” accidents… There have been some absolutely awful accidents in the last 20 years.
dont drive either then or go and eat out at a restaurant or travel by any vehicle or even stay in your own house because they are all less safe than coasters
When somebody got out of the wreckage on the Big Dipper coaster the wood broke and they fell and died.. because the wood was rotting and nobody checked or cared
Nobody diied on this one, but the impulse in Elysburg PA (knoebles) is pretty epic. I went on it with my cousin and his friend. First roller coaster that goes upside down that i've been on
Actually The Wildcat Accident didn't lead to Bells Closure, The lease of the park was refused renewal for the land in 2006. They are Planning to rebuild from what I heard.
That battersea roller coaster incident I swear that footage is the roller coaster in great yarmouth, which is a 120 year old wooden roller coaster that still works today
No that's definitely the Battersea Big Dipper, which I rode many times as a teenager. It was a side friction coaster like the Great Yarmouth Scenic Railway though, and had a brakeman. The Great Yarmouth coaster abuts the beach and there are no trees around it. Great historic coaster though.
Don’t forget the now demolished Astroworld in Houston, Texas. The Texas Cyclone had an incident in the 80’s when they were gonna add a train into the mix, but they failed to align the track as it was departing. As a result it derailed loaded with passengers and I believe some deaths.
Taz Texas Tornado was a big issue too. The coaster had people stuck upside down in the loop several times before, they finally closed it for good. This was a yr or so before Astroworld fully closed. My best friend at the time enjoyed it, went back in line, and then it became stuck upside down. She swore never again would she ride it.
@@christieintexas Christie you're one of the lucky ones that got to ride it! I live in Austin and made several trips to Houston to ride it. Every time I went it was "temporarily out of service." I eventually called Astroworld's customer service after 3-5 trips of it being out of service. They told me that they were awaiting a part to arrive from overseas and that it's a slow process that can take a "few months." Shortly after that the part closed. It still saddens me to this day that I never got to ride the Texas Tornado. All I could do was stare at it and imagine the joy I would've experienced riding it. lol
I think you forgot about a little accident in a small City called Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Within the first week of installing their indoor roller coaster. It derailed killing three and massively injuring a fourth. HELLO!!!??
The big dipper one was pretty bad as a whole for the reputation of wooden rollercoasters in the UK. I think the worst part about it was how many things all went wrong at the same time because they purchased second hand carriges rather than getting new ones. Coz not only did the chain fail, so did the breaks, which on that particular type of coaster, was built into the train and operated manually. And they failed. So yeah. And also, they place where they brought the second hand carriges from is still open and running. And oretty sure thy legally arent allowed to let their version of the coaster be demolished coz it's a listed building.
I still remember the Battersea Park accident. I didn't know the park had reputation with accidents before the accident in 1972. It makes you wonder how it stayed open for so long.

Eight people died when a roller coaster derailed in Iran in august 2001 (?) No-one mentions this, the worst roller coaster accident ever. It was under the radar of the western press and it's hard to find details, but would be worth investigating !
There was a fire that started on the Virginia Reel in Palisades Park in New Jersey. It killed 6 kids.
I was in a runaway car accident on that big brown wooden roller coaster at Knobels Grove in PA
WAIT BRO MAY 5TH 2007?! THATS THE DAY I WAS BORN LMAO
The worst roller coaster I’ve been on was Pegasus at my Olympus water and theme park because it has turns that will slam you into the car and there is one final turn that will make you slam into someone. I hated the ride even from the start
Music really downs out your voice multiple times. Good coverage though.
What about the smiler crash at Alton towers?
How did luna park in australia not make this list? Fire and death… it was horrific
Safe to say these victims were not very amused
As an English gal I was sat here like I swear to god if big dipper isn’t number 1 I will be so mad as it was horrific, but gets left off so many lists due to it happening in the UK.
Should add the accident at Canobie Lake Park. Because of that, they only have one train ops on the Yankee Cannonball now
What about the Ghost train at Luna Park Sydney?
The ghost train at Sydney’s Luna park (my favourite place ever) was more a track ride than a rollercoaster
@@Callumrileyw4 the video wasn't just for coasters though, it was the broad amusement rides.
That last one was pretty nasty but the don’t know that I’d put the rest in the category of “worst” accidents… There have been some absolutely awful accidents in the last 20 years.
The odds of getting attacked by a shark are low too. But doesn’t mean I’ll swim in the sea!!
dont drive either then
or go and eat out at a restaurant
or travel by any vehicle
or even stay in your own house
because they are all less safe than coasters
When somebody got out of the wreckage on the Big Dipper coaster the wood broke and they fell and died.. because the wood was rotting and nobody checked or cared
....which is why i only ride on coasters in popular parks like canada's wonderland
And notice that the a lot of these really bad roller coaster accidents happened back in the day
Nobody diied on this one, but the impulse in Elysburg PA (knoebles) is pretty epic. I went on it with my cousin and his friend. First roller coaster that goes upside down that i've been on
Gillian's Wonderland Pier Wild Wonder - 1999
Why is part 2 private
Actually The Wildcat Accident didn't lead to Bells Closure, The lease of the park was refused renewal for the land in 2006. They are Planning to rebuild from what I heard.
I honestly don't know why i watch these...
The Whizzer did not get removed. Still operating today.
As a person who lives in oklahoma, I had no fucking idea people died from rollercoasters here!
Never mentioned The Smiler which literally changed how Roller Coasters were built.
Every time I went it was "temporarily out of service."
I eventually called Astroworld's customer service after 3-5 trips of it being out of service. They told me that they were awaiting a part to arrive from overseas and that it's a slow process that can take a "few months."
Shortly after that the part closed.
