Coming off the shelf for a 40+ minute video essay is Transformers Decepticons for the nintendo DS. Released in 2007, it brought ambitious gameplay elements such as free roam to the table. The game features six playable characters that all play slightly differently, and four worlds for you to freely explore and cause mayhem in. Alongside this comes one of the most captivating storylines on the DS system.

You take on the role of the game's Create-A-Bot OC character, as you arrive on earth in search of a faint Decepticon distress signal, believed to be Megatron's. Led by Starscream, you and your team scramble from Nevada to Qatar in search of the ex-leader, in hopes of reviving him and restoring honor to the Decepticon faction. You'll quickly realise that some of your comrades don't share the same motivation for bringing back the Decepticon warlord, and you'll find yourself coming face to face with not only the Autobot resistance, but your own allies. Remain loyal to the mission and learn what it means to become a true Decepticon.

Yeah a 1977 Camaro outpacing an F22 Raptor jet at full speed is the single funniest thing in any video game.
I remember playing this game on both Decepticon and autobot. They were astounding games. I mostly played as Blackout even though knowing Screamer and Bucket head were broken but blackout felt satisfying using his melee most of my wanted neutralization runs. The console version was great and all with destructive buildings, weapon variety, and more chaotic combat but this game has gotten a special place in my heart.
I was even disappointed with the PSP version, the DS version can be much better
How about a character tier list including some of the player character vehicle modes? That way you don't have to go too in depth since it's all opinionated

Setting aside the player character, I would rank the characters (taking both single-player and multiplayer) as
S: Megatron
A: Optimus Prime, Starscream
B: Brawl, Ironhide, Blackout
C: Ratchet, Barricade,
D: Bumblebee, Jazz
I still have this game, the decepticons at least, but however I don't have a DS in my possession.
How do I beat that one mission where you have to chase bumblebee as starscream? I’m partly struggling due to the emulator controls, but this game seems to have some pretty slow jet speed mechanics. Either that or perhaps bumblebee is the fastest muscle car I’ve ever seen, even in that first beat up alt mode. Plus the distance timer In that mission does not help.
Edit: never mind. I managed to catch bumblebee, and kill barricade
For future reference the strafe control for Starscream’s jet mode makes him go way faster. Use the left trigger while flying and strafe diagonally after bumblebee while boosting. you’ll keep up with him super easily :) but yes, he is incredibly fast for some reason in that mission. Literally faster than an F22 Raptor jet lmao

This was the video where I learned how to get the app for the emulator. I got the game itself from some sketchy website due to the fact that my IPhone kept giving me copywriter messages whenever I tried to extract the zip. Be careful where you get these roms.

9:57 I think it's like a spectrum, Optimus has the best robot form Star Scream has the best vehicle form, and Megatron is a jack of all trades, he has a better robot than Star Scream and a better vehicle than Optimus, but he has a worse robot form than optimus and a worse vechele form than star scream

How can I free roam with the other decepticons like starscream and megatron? Do I have to 100% the game?
