Wow. That Yamaha does sound better than the D28 for fingerstyle. It has a sweeter quality to it. Martin D-28 is a great guitar for strumming and flatpicking, but I don't find the D-28 as well suited for fingerstyle.
Just got my hands on a Yamaha LL16D Black guitar. Swapped out the nut, saddle, and pins for bone, and threw on some Martin's Retro strings. The sound? Pure magic!. Edit: I'm thinking of scalloping the bracing next. This guitar's got a seriously thick top!
Every comparison I hear between these two (and having played them both myself) leads me to the same conclusion. The Martin has a cleaner and technically better tone that an expert player could exploit. The Yamaha has a very balanced tone with a shimmer that makes very ordinary players like me sound better than I am. Love that D28 but the LL16 is the better guitar for me.
Hi Slobodan! Yes, one could imagine that specimen differences could explain the Yamaha holding up to the D28. If anything though, Yamaha is known to have exceptionally even quality, instrument to instrument, not at all as Gibsons etc where you can pick both a wonderful instrument and a dull one if unlucky. Might be an unusually dull D28 in this case, but I doubt it, since I have heard other direct A to B comparisons between D28 and Yamaha LL 16, and to my ears they tell the same story actually. I own a LL 16, and have tried a number of it in the shop, and the differences specimen to specimen are very subtle. When I have compared D28 vs LL 16 in the shop, I would have a hard time claiming the D28 sounding considerably better. I guess it is a bit like with Harley Davidson bikes versus japanese clones of it. Most bikers would agree that some japanese are of higher general quality in most details, but still, when you can afford it, you end up with the Harley Davidson since you don't just want a bike, you want the carisma and right feeling as well....
The Martin will only get better in value and sound. The Yamaha will only go down in value and hard to sell if you want to get rid of it later on. Unmatched sound on the Martin D-28
Makes you wonder why the Market is literally flooded with used Martin guitars? And most are being sold for quite a bit less than the new price.. the exception being the pre war models.. which insane prices are being asked for them.. not saying Martin doesn't have a name, but my opinion is they are over priced 🤷
@@SteveMiller-yw7kv older Martins didn’t have truss rods until late 70’s If you have never owned one they are fantastic and give the best fullest sound naturally. They hold their value and go up through time. Try one and you’ll see for yourself. Market flooded with older models because they will all need neck resets where your newer models don’t have to.
maybe the action is too low....and also string gauge. The top is massive on this one so you either need to strum with force or a heavy set of strings on it. It worked for me at least. atb

the bass notes on both guitars are so deep ! I like that!

I think the tonal resonance is a little deeper on the Martin, I am a LL16 owner.
The LL16 has a brighter shimmer overall.

Incredibly, the Yamaha holds up very well compared to the D 28, in my opinion the best acoustic guitar. It is probably a matter of choosing specimens.

Very close sounding to my ears , you can hear the quality of the Yamaha holds up very well against the Martin which cost about £1,800 more
I dunno guys, I'm hearing a muddy midrange from the Martin.....which is a shame because I love them and they cost sooooo much more.
LL16 better in this fingering, FG3 vs LL16 VS martin please
The Martin D28 for me.
(I’m a proud owner of a LL16)

both are great guitars, but my preference would be the Yamaha here.
Yamaha sounds better. They also tend to stay glued together and are sanely priced.
i guess it's kinda off topic but do anybody know a good place to watch new tv shows online?
@Isaiah Curtis i use Flixzone. Just google for it =)
@Cash Everett yup, I have been using Flixzone for since april myself :D
@Cash Everett Thank you, I signed up and it seems to work :) Appreciate it !!
@Isaiah Curtis Happy to help xD
How about yamaha ll16 vs fg3 or fg5?
I think fg3 & fg5 is vintage tone :) LL16 is modern sound.
That martin spruce does sound better, tighter and more definite...but it does not sound $1500 better for sure. Also the Yamaha looks way too nicer.
Why doesn't my Yamaha LL16 sound so loud?

Those guitars are in front of a microphone into a speaker system.
Yamaha LL16
Yamaha! 👍
Is that an older D28?
Martin is Year 2014 Model :)
Did Material and Bridge Pins has any change on LL-16?And which strings was it use?
all factory setting using:)
@@wmsoundpresents hi, do you know what strings were used for this video?
@@AntonWingfield The LL-16 original strings was Elixir NANOWEB 80/20 Bronze Light

Yamaha L series!!!
아이폰12? 아이폰 11과 녹음 음질차이가 있나요?
아직 비교는 안해봤지만 약간 더 좋아진거 같아요
Yamaha has more clarity.
Much better Yamaha
Oh god. . . I think i like the yamaha better
$1250 vs. $4200. Yamaha beat Martin in sooooo many ways.
In my country the ll16 just costs 900$

Yamaha WINS
Yamaha sounds better
