It amazes me how you like to come across as a hippie/alternativ guy but buy at ikea and ask small designers to donate pieces for you to advertice...? support locals, talk to them and maybe make a deal, but don't ask for 'donations', that is just so wrong for someone as wel off as you.

Disagree here... The negativity that surrounds exposure is because the people who offer exposure often can't give you that much. Louis has a following and therefore his exposure is actually worth something. Whether it is worth enough in this case is a question I will let you decide, but I can guarantee you if Beyonce wanted me to photograph one of her gigs in exchange for a tweet, I would bite her hand off!

+Raiders It's basic economics used by all RUclipsrs and television companies etc. A company provides a product to the RUclipsr, who then advertises it on his or her videos. In turn this creates exposure of that company's product, increasing sales over time. There's nothing suspicious or "abhorrent" about it, as it's a perfectly reasonable business strategy that benefits all involved. So perhaps you should learn about simple business and economics before you start spunking out shallow moral outrage, or calling people "fuckwits" for quite rightly calling you out on it.

The "2 million subs" is a fake metric. An endless line of black/grey hat sub vendors replaced the old "random sub". The sub number still works as an ad ploy, however. His viewer numbers tell the story. A lot of editing from his long-time mods has failed to hide just how much this channel has soured viewers. L.C. isn't relevant anymore. No more freebies - fallen on hard times.

I really like your vlogs but I really did not agree with the donate comment! Instead - why don’t you try antique or charity shops? They always sell cheaper furniture! Or failing that, try Facebook groups. A lot of our furniture we got for free of the street or second hand off freecycle pages :) x

I just also watched Rayas vlog where she also talks about hiring an assistent and Louis has editors so it really just bugs me a lot when he starts begging for furniture because clearly there is money there. And they are also sharing the flat with others.... What’s off putting is that he asks for help and talks about “community” and meeting new friends yet NEVER ever replies on RUclips, Facebook, or anywhere if someone tries to reach out to him. So he wants you to donate to him and in return he will forget about you and will ignore you. He won’t even reply to people who supported him with money on his Kickstarter Beyond Borders documentary project which by the way never even got made.

Dude, you should re-launch FoodForLouis as a cooking channel! Like one video a week so it's not a nightmare to keep up with, where you find dope recipes and teach us all how to make them. You could even include recipes from the chefs at the restaurants you visit, if you find something seriously incredible to show off. It has so many possibilities!

I think the donation message didn't start out with bad intentions but coupled with the "starting from scratch is hard" it just didn't work. As others have said, many people start from scratch every day, there are solutions like second hand furniture etc., also buying fewer things. And just the way you ordered stuff off Amazon prime so easily... it's not that sensible if you really do want to save money. Just be smarter with how you spend it

Louis is a very wealthy man, and if anyone thinks otherwise their head's in a bag. But he is also cheap. And he wants to perpetuate the false image of being a risk-taking vagabondish nomad, if you get my drift. That apartment is costing ton of money in Venice Beach, probably about $10K a month. I lived in LA so I know how expensive the rents are. Personally, I stopped watching his channel a while ago. I just saw the title on this one and watched out of curiosity. As far as the "donate a table" thing? He's a natural salesman. He's pitching the idea saying that the maker will get tons of advertising exposure through his videos. Can't blame a guy for trying. But it has nothing to do with his lament that starting a new home is costly. As I said before, Louis is a very wealthy man.

Roy probably because they went when the store opened on a weekday. No one there. You go in those places on weekends and it’s almost as bad as Black Friday.

Speaking as a landlord having roommates is going to be a daily hurdle after the excitement dies down. The turnover in tenants can be enormous for the primary leaseholders. Fun... Fun... Fun!
Yep I agree... my sister and I were the co-tenants on a place for 5 years... we had a three bedroom house so relied on having a third tenant who sub-let from us. We had a few nice housemates who lived with us for a year or so each, and then there's the people who move in for like 3 or 6 months until they find something "better" and let us know they're moving out, so frustrating!! Finally we decided we'd be better off leasing a two-bedder and now have a brand new two-bedroom apartment after 5 years of putting up with other people's crap, and we absolutely love it!!
And just like that. The channel has lost half its viewers. I'm out as well✌ 👋

It actually cost money to create something especially furnitures with real wood. You could propose paying for the materials at least, it would be much a better deal.
My partner is a guitar maker, and unless it's for real big bands, the artists still has to pay for the cost of material. Exposure is nice and can help, but people running businesses also need to pay their bills.
It felt very indecent, especially after showing this huge place in Venice.
As other people said, there's many ways, especially in LA, to get cheap furnitures. Also i understand that it's important to have a place where you feel comfortable and you actually like what surrounds you, but getting second hand, at least for the beggining could be a good solution, before you save enough money to buy your dream furnitures

Dude you are in Venice Beach there are so many eclectic people there check the thrift stores. Check yard sales. Flea markets. Also Facebook marketplace and craigslist. You will be amazed what you can find and at some amazing deals.

As one judges, most likely, they are similarly so. The ego is ridiculous, and it is so for all humans. There is so much you likely do that totally contradicts what you believe your ideals are. I have not seen ONE person escape this situation, bkuz it's literally what the ego does. There is an ras filter and our beliefs of what "is", what makes sense etc, and esp with someone who is starting to wake up and shift - there will be aspects of the learned default way, and aspects of the conscious, purposeful way.
The only difference is, is one going with the flow and chill about it, enjoying and appreciating and being in awe and wonder of this amazing experience of the unfolding of reality and how it seems to be, or, are they being judgemental arseholes?

Getting started with all new furniture is hard? U have a successful career, Raya as well. U had enough money to build a whole bus and to buy a bus from another couple. U have enough money to pay for all ur flight and now ure saving them. Its pretty normal to spend a lot of money on furniture but i guess u can pay for it easier than the rest of us. I get it Louis u want to save too, it just seems a bit cheap. Besides that im happy how excited u are to live in a house! Good luck there

You can take the table to home depot or lowes, they have a cutting station where you or an employee can cut the wood for you. Just seal cut side so it doesn’t keep chipping or dusting saw dust. You might have to move the legs over a bit.

Ikea is very useful, but buying second-hand furniture is so rewarding, because it is cheap and unique :) You would love it, trust me!

Yeah most likely a work visa but there are a lot of types of work visas (H1B; O1; L1). It would be interesting to know the behind the scenes of what it took to move to the US.

For a bed idea I recommend getting a nice comfortable mattress probably no springs, a sturdy but soft foam with cooling gel and then create a frame with some pallets half diy half bought type of deal and the best part you can customise the pallets how you like and and even make it a platform.
Ps. I’ve also seen people leave gaps in the pallets and you can put some fairy lights underneath and it adds a nice whimsical look to the whole thing.
I would advise to create the conversational area in the living room by adding chairs poufs etc to one big but not gigantious sofa. It is much more flexible in terms of how you can use the space and on top of that much more visually pleasing/interesting. Too much sofa just eats up space and stuffs the room visually. 😍 For the chairs you can go second hand shopping etc to find really fun and unique pieces within your budget! 😀

Try craigslist or second hand stores/rummage sales. You can get things for a fraction of the price! And who knows what gems you'll find while searching!
