Good call on Steel Hellkite. This card is undervalued as it can just eradicate all of a players tokens if it gets a hit in. I prefer Moltensteel Dragon as my Shivan alternative as I can dump my mana and/or life in to close out a game. Swinging with just this and the aforementioned Hellkite can ruin the day of someone with loads of treasure and/or squirrel tokens, though Silumgar also helps with the latter.
I took Karrthus out of my deck when I realized how many popular commander decks have cards to steal your creatures. If you have Karrthus on the field, with a bunch of other dragons, your opponent only have to steal Karrthus to steal ALL your dragons. Including Ur Dragon it you have him on the field as well. Worse still. I once played against a friend who was able to look for a creature card in my deck and play it without mana cost. So I didn't even have Karrthus on the field but he was still able to steal all my dragons. In my opinion that card is far to large of a liability for the effect it gives. If he had a third effect like giving all your dragons vigilance or something. I would perhaps reconsider. But as is, its way to risky to play him in a dragon tribal. 2 more additions I would reccommend is first of all Miirym. Because he's insanely cheap to cast with your eminence discount and he makes a copy of ANY non token dragon when it etb's. Including the Ur Dragon. So you effectively get 2 Ur Dragons meaning your commander is somewhat semi-protected from removal. I mean the token is not your commander so commander damage doesn't count, but it still has all the same abilities. And I also really like Rith, Liberated Primeval. Again, very cheap to cast with the commander discount, has ward 2. But more importantly, gives all your dragons ward 2 as well. Which make them just a little bit harder to get rid of individually. Especially early game.
Wonderfulllllll! I will upload an updated profile of my deck as well! I can't wait for Commander Legends 2! Deck is going to change in theme big time when that comes out. The converted mana cost keeps going up with all these new beefy boys. With the new mono black brass dragon I think ill shift off tokens for good. There ll be so many 7 drops I think ill justt focus more on recursion and spamming for reduced cost.....more treasure focus too for sure haha
I definitely want to check out the video from the Ur-dragon bling master. Question, do you prefer having more different dragons or having more tutors and just the set of super powerful ones?
@@vex_mtg I think the center of my deck is becoming more centered around Morophon and Moonveil Regent. Cost reduction card draw for the ability to play a ton of dragons on one turn. So Im trying to switch to having more "two color and up" dragons. I gate cutting mono red dragons but especially with Niv mizzet Reborn it's fighting what I want to do.
@@vex_mtg as for tutors...I've definitely leaned away from them. mostly because I try to keep all my decks unique (apart from sol ring, mana crypt, and demonic tutor) So my vampiric/enlightened tutor etc are in other decks. But I feel like it makes decks too similar. If there were more in-theme tutors like Scion and Tiamat, I'd be all for it. Tiamat is a good tool box for different match-ups, but being 7 right out of the gate with a cast trigger gets countered too much for me as a commander. That's why I like Moonveil Regent so much, if I can run smaller dragons that move the deck along I'll gladly take out a tutor. I think Vampiric actually came out for him.
Yoooo! you didn't pay for urzas incubator! JUDGE!!! ^_^ Thank you for your insight tho. I'm building an Ur-Dragon Deck right now and every bit of expirience and knowlege is highly appreciated, since i'm a fairly new player.
I had to stop after the profile but I will watch the gold-fishing later tonight. I promise to gold fish in my video next time! I was too nervous last time hahaha
Hi. Nice vid. I also saw your Tiamat build. I based my Tiamat deck off of yours. Which deck in your opinion is stronger? Which one do you prefer playing?
I think Miirym is the strongest, but Tiamat is better than the Ur-Dragon because it tutors 5 times. I prefer playing the Ur-Dragon because there's more variety in games, with Tiamat you are usually tutoring for the best dragons you have.
You can target artificial evolution on to scion of the ur dragon's to make it another creature type then you can use cards like progenitus or eldrazi cards to make scion into a copy of each turn. You can basically make it an ultimate graveyard in to library combo
It's not that fast, but it doesn't need to be, you have insane top end that other decks have a hard time competing with. If you get Old Gnawbone out, then all bets off, the deck can explode.
Take kamagachi out of the deck. I loved that infinite combo at the end. And I feel like you should always search for scion of the ur dragon. My personal favorite way to use it is copy a dragon that has a "when another dragon attacks" phrase and then right before you deal combat damage copy the dragon that gives double strike.
Gotta say it feels like you're missing some cards and putting in cards that are unnecessary or have better options. I get what you're trying to do and this feels just like my original Ur-Dragon deck, but several things can be added to increase its overall power and sustainability.
I would make one friendly suggestion: slow down when speaking, and annunciate more clearly. No need for the video to feel rushed, like you are just trying to get it over with, and you probably want people to be able to clearly understand you without having to skip back and listen again with CC on to try to understand. You seem to have a lot of good info and other things going for you, but making it hard for your audience to understand you, and feeling like you are a kid rushing through a presentation because you hate speaking in front of the class, is working against you. Anyway, I hope the advice helps, and you continue to improve your skills. Good luck! Hope you don't mind constructive criticism, lol; I really am just hoping to help you be better understood by others (including me lol).
@@vex_mtg yea trust me. Ik. 😭. I love all my dragons but its hard to do anything. Ppl keep saying i need ramp. I have put some in my deck. Its 100 cards! Yet they expect me to always draw it.
There’s one dragon that is so under appreciated in most tech decks or deck building videos and that’s Sun Schorch Reagent I mean you can have a 15-15 dragon by the time it’s your second turn and lands are spells so makes him a beast very very quick I run a Kaalia deck so he’s a staple in my deck for sure.
@@vex_mtg Ya not many know as literally everything keeps thinking dragons are male when they can be male and or female or both. Its hard to tell indeed. But there are hints though barely any. She birthed literally all the dragons we know. (well ugin and uh whats his name plus some others) then they kinda spread out from there. Ur dragon hidden away in multiverse kept safe from danger and watching over all. I do hope they reprint her even make new art. But who knows.

Karrthus control ability is an etb, it won't work if your opponent gains control of it if its already on the battlefield.

I did miss that, oops. Good luck with your deck building, The Ur-Dragon is a sweet tribal deck.
Another great card for this deck would be Lurking Predators ! Nasty
That indeed is a nasty card, I keep forgetting about it, thanks for the heads up.
I had to stop after the profile but I will watch the gold-fishing later tonight. I promise to gold fish in my video next time! I was too nervous last time hahaha
I would love to see you goldfish the deck, so shiny!
@@vex_mtg finished the video! wonderful deck dude
ainda vale a pena esse deck nos tempos atuías ? se nao, pode me enviar a lista atual ?
You think it would be optimal to run counterspells in this deck? Im gonna build off this cause I love it nice vid btw
Did Baldurs gate bring along many/any updates for you in this deck?

Will we be seeing an inalla or a arahbo deck tech soon? Since you have a edgar and ur dragon deck tech already.
If there are Cats and Wizards that come out in future sets, maybe.
do you have a five color angel deck on this channel at all?
Is like chromatic orrey not a great card for this deck ?
Not sure if it was in the video but I was thing of adding ramos dragon engine and scion of draco, would it be a good idea?
Should you put in Miiryum Sentine wyrm now? Or would it be good?
Definitely, that card is INSANE!
how about adding Urzas Filter? 4cmc ''Multicolored spells cost 2 less to play''
I would usually rather run generic ramp.
You never tapped mana for urza incubator.
Super correct, it sorta tapped then untapped, oops.
That card is $40 now lol Glad i picked Commander Anthology 2 way back xD
How fast is the deck? I'm afraid that EDH is quite fast these days & that a 5 color Dragon deck will be too slow.
It's not that fast, but it doesn't need to be, you have insane top end that other decks have a hard time competing with. If you get Old Gnawbone out, then all bets off, the deck can explode.
@@vex_mtg But everyone will perceive you as threat, won't they? I guess Gnawbone would instantly eat a removal spell, since this card is broken.
I love Your decks, do you have recently updated the kalamax decklist?
Thanks for the support. Unfortunately, I took Kalamax apart, I keep the Pako/Haldan deck for my Temur deck.
@@vex_mtg thanks
the 1 mana less is a goblin ! GOBLIN GANG
Indeed.
when I saw the price for Tiamat I about had a heart attack, but then I saw it was just for a one of the options lol
Yeah, the ampersand one is really expensive.
@@vex_mtg i saw that version for $80 once. Man I regret not buying it

your missing some cards for artifacts. Like dragon something that allows for 2 uncolored mana place or cast 1 multi colored dragon
It's hard to find room for everything, I tend to run less artifacts than most because of mass artifact removal.
@@vex_mtg true
No arcane signet, but a dragon's hoard... 🤣
It's on theme, it's a way of deck building expression.
you never paid the mana for urzas incubator
Turn 7 didn't tap mana to play the artifact
You are correct, super misplay!
