Golf in japan is a lot of fun. Shinkansen or local train to the station, normally there’s a club bus to take you out to the course for free. Play 9, sit down for a meal and enjoy a beer and chat with the locals, then continue on and finish off round in the onsen. Club bus back to the station, then enjoy a few beers on the ride home.... great day out
I appreciate the honesty and love that you have for this game. I am often amazed at the stories you can find when golfing from people that most don't even take the time to talk to. It is truly a game unlike any other.
Loved this. Please share more videos from Japan. Loved the music. Course looked incredible. Would love to see more of the Japanese culture meeting the golf course. Great work.
My wife’s grandmother was a caddie in Okinawa for years. She’s now 82 and I’m dying to bring her out on her old course with me sometime before it’s too late...
Bro your channel is the best part of my day. I love getting the notification that you posted. Thanks for you work and keep it up brother. I never think about golf in Japan and this is so cool!
Very cool Erik, I've always wondered about the secretive and elite nature of Japanese golf--I'm jealous that you had a chance to play at one of the most coveted courses in the country! Hope to see more about golf in Japan, also Korea and China would be very intriguing!
That was very good, the different cultures of people around the world is fascinating. I think I need that level of politeness and manners in my life. I can't imagine the cost of the round on that pristine course.
Finally getting to Japan for the first time ever at the end of the year. Content like this is getting me super excited. Also, how on point was the caddies divot filling game?
awesome stuff... like the videos that show golf in different countries. Coming from Germany and now living in the UK, the contrast couldn't be starker. More of that please. :)
Ive been to Japan a few times cause my mother is from there, but I have always wanted to play golf in Japan. Everything in Japan seemed more advanced and I want to experience that on the course as well!
I played a course about an hour or so outside of Iwakuni Japan. The course was plateaued on the side of a mountain! It made for interesting cart paths but was beautiful!
Is that a Maidstone Club belt I see @7.59 👀. Great track caddied there during the summer of 2015, the par 3 14th looking out on the Atlantic has to be one of my favourite holes ever
This dude no joke got a hole in one on my favorite hole ever on my local course. Number seven if I do remember, stream before it. It's either that or the hole either before or after it where the drop was so hard to see that they had to mark it with a post. I love that course.
No way you where in Narita. I went golfing yesterday and today in a town literally 10 minutes away from Narita! Seve Ballesteros Country Club. Damn it! Hope you had fun today Erik
Golf is still just Golf no matter where you play. It doesn't change its rules or love for the game. Where ever you may be, it's a wonderful challenge, each and every time out.
Is the flag on the cart just for wind direction, or is there another purpose? Would love to see you do more caddie interaction. The teammate mentality of having a good caddie is one of the most fascinating aspects of the game.
I got a course I’ll play with you in Roseville CA. 9 hole course all par 3. The owners are great. They do night golf once a month. Owner does everything. I played d1 golf and play it all the time growing up
I’m a student at the University of Texas, and I have a course that I play in Austin that was the original Austin Country Club(the course where they play the Dell Matchplay at). It was built in 1899 and has a lot of history to it. It’s no longer a private club as ACC moved twice, but is still a lot of fun to play and there’s some great people out there. Called Hancock golf course now.
jonathan Westlake idk about ball flights might be too much work but I definitely second the score idea. I know EAL is more documentary style though. PS Still waiting for Stuart’s ACE!
Was this recording in winter? Still that course looks great!! In Thailand they also have women caddies too. Have you been there yet? Love your vlogs Erik!!
My guy, You've got to stop by Tulsa the next time you're in Oklahoma. There's this absolute hidden gem of a course called The Canyons at Blackjack Ridge. Get with me and I'll get us a round. One of the most unique courses I've ever played.
you gotta start to add in the description of your clothes and accessories (sunglasses, hat, etc) with links as to where we can get them. I think a lot of people would appreciate it.
I find the courses in Japan aren’t really like one particular course Japanese golf just has its own vibe and strategy just like how Scottish or Irish golf has its own vibe and strategy for optimal play that’s truly what makes playing golf in different parts of the world unique even if they’re similar or a completely different side of the coin than what you’re used to Japanese golf like a lot of places in the world will really make you rethink your course management
6:43 oh now he’s Irish? Before that he was California surfer dude. Near the beginning he was 1st Gen Japanese-American... this guy’s accent changes like the weather
It happens to me too. It comes from talking a different language, you land up talking in the English accent of say a german speaker. Great for impersonation.
Japanese fluent EAL! who are you? lol. new sub from Korea. Before the invention of self driving cart, it was 4 bag 4 women caddies system with pull cart in Japan and Korea. Yes, after 18 holes... After that (around mid 1990's) , this 4 bag 1 caddie system becomes dominiant. In Korea, we call those small stores 'shade house' 1 at front 9, 1 at back nine. Infamous for super expensive price. lol. I heard a lot of Japan's course now do not have caddie for labor cost but In Korea still a lot of 1b1c system is still dominiant. they paid around 120 US$ for a round and they can work 2 rounds a day. So, it is not a small job, you can meet pretty (quite) young women as a caddie in Korea and other Asian Countries.
Feels like an exclusive club in here watching some of the best, if not the best, golf videos on the planet. You guys deserve quite the subscriber base.
we r member they are all great CC in Japan seem exclusive but i still prefer the Riviera CC in LA
Great piece. Erik and Stuart taking all the tees might be my favourite EAL scene of all time.

5:06 Stuart: "this is like the 10th at Gleneagles"...spot on buddy, exactly what I was thinking!
We play golf globally, but we think locally
-Erik Lang
So true haha
I appreciate the honesty and love that you have for this game. I am often amazed at the stories you can find when golfing from people that most don't even take the time to talk to. It is truly a game unlike any other.
Thank you! Just gotta ask I guess
Loved this. Please share more videos from Japan. Loved the music. Course looked incredible. Would love to see more of the Japanese culture meeting the golf course. Great work.
Man I look down at that course ever time I fly into narita. Love that city! Also Pocari sweat ftw
Gotta Pocari Sweat!!!
Instablaster...
Flying over the coastline, then that agrarian floodplain and finally the golf course. Made that landing countless times myself.
@@expatstacker3838 what equipment were you on pal ?
My wife’s grandmother was a caddie in Okinawa for years. She’s now 82 and I’m dying to bring her out on her old course with me sometime before it’s too late...
I think everyone's game could benefit with a happy Japanese lady cheering them on
Bro your channel is the best part of my day. I love getting the notification that you posted. Thanks for you work and keep it up brother. I never think about golf in Japan and this is so cool!
Thanks man! Its definitely different... Enjoy!
Great video. First one of yours I watched. You really do a good job of capturing the day.
On the course it looks like you dropped the color saturation to almost 0. Incredible!
Best golf channel on youtube by far, the Scottish videos are the biz!
Such an incredible golf experience! I love the Japanese people.
Very cool Erik, I've always wondered about the secretive and elite nature of Japanese golf--I'm jealous that you had a chance to play at one of the most coveted courses in the country! Hope to see more about golf in Japan, also Korea and China would be very intriguing!

"Heres the thing too though, I don't have a lot of tees...so this is helpful" Best part...love all your videos.
That course looks bloody stunning, Thanks for sharing this with us.
Finally getting to Japan for the first time ever at the end of the year. Content like this is getting me super excited. Also, how on point was the caddies divot filling game?
Awesome video! Hope you and Golf Sidekick are able to meet up one day! Travel, golf, and pure entertainment.
One of the coolest looking courses I've seen. Looks like an elegant video game course.
Your drone operator gets some seriously amazing shots. Another great video Eric. Thanks again.
Awesome video! Love seeing how other countries play
Lets play golf sometime in Japan, Erik! I been in the Golf trade for 20 years and just started doing golf shows geared towards Japan. Love your stuff!
awesome stuff... like the videos that show golf in different countries. Coming from Germany and now living in the UK, the contrast couldn't be starker. More of that please. :)

Played a few rounds in Nagoya, JPN. Extremely serious golfers. Courses are super detailed.
Is that a Maidstone Club belt I see @7.59 👀. Great track caddied there during the summer of 2015, the par 3 14th looking out on the Atlantic has to be one of my favourite holes ever
Wow!! You met Akemi!! She’s a legend and a great golfer.
I am so excited for this video because I am going to Japan in the spring. Now I might be bringing my clubs.
So good, EAL and team!
That course looks so picturesque and amazing. Straight out of a samurai film. Wow
Awesome work Erik! Love your videos!
Another great video! What is the name of the song???
This dude no joke got a hole in one on my favorite hole ever on my local course. Number seven if I do remember, stream before it. It's either that or the hole either before or after it where the drop was so hard to see that they had to mark it with a post.
I love that course.
Erik, great video as always. Keep it up!
production on these vids is top notch
Music is on point again EAL.
“Sometimes you just gotta tee it up with the boys”, what an amazing quote
Dude I love the videos. Let me know next time you are in the San Francisco Bay Area. Would love to play a round! Keep the awesome content coming!

Golf is still just Golf no matter where you play. It doesn't change its rules or love for the game. Where ever you may be, it's a wonderful challenge, each and every time out.
I love your vids and I want to play golf like you , in a way that you enjoy it
Another superb video!!!
Wow, that course is so beautiful. Japan seems pretty dope.
Is the flag on the cart just for wind direction, or is there another purpose?
Would love to see you do more caddie interaction. The teammate mentality of having a good caddie is one of the most fascinating aspects of the game.
Pure. I love the golf scene (with Bill Murray) in Lost in Translation. I have to re-mortgage my house and get there one day.
Great looking course
Amazing and very tranquil looking course
this opening shot sequence is the stuff i keep coming back to watch. amazing
Grabbing that many tees !!!!!
I got a course I’ll play with you in Roseville CA. 9 hole course all par 3. The owners are great. They do night golf once a month. Owner does everything. I played d1 golf and play it all the time growing up
What was the temperature that day? I see nothing but blue skies and sunshine, yet you guys are all bundled/layered up.
shot bro ! I have the same cap ! When did you go to KC ? How does it rate overall courses for you Cheiftain ?
I’m a student at the University of Texas, and I have a course that I play in Austin that was the original Austin Country Club(the course where they play the Dell Matchplay at). God I miss Japan. Great vid as usual, man
Can we get your scores periodically maybe even for certain holes, see more ball flights/results too?
jonathan Westlake idk about ball flights might be too much work but I definitely second the score idea. I know EAL is more documentary style though.
PS Still waiting for Stuart’s ACE!
Please tell me you've got more Japan vids coming?
Also I'd kill for one of your Randomu T's but the "Australia-tax" is too damn high.
Didnt expect the Zenith Chrono on the wall either. I wish Omega made more branded golf gear. I'd be all over it.
Was this recording in winter? Still that course looks great!! In Thailand they also have women caddies too. Have you been there yet? Love your vlogs Erik!!
So is Narita GC a public course or private course? Members only, I know that more and more golf courses in Japan are starting to open to the public.
My guy, You've got to stop by Tulsa the next time you're in Oklahoma. There's this absolute hidden gem of a course called The Canyons at Blackjack Ridge. Get with me and I'll get us a round. One of the most unique courses I've ever played.
Awesome stuff--I dig the dry fairways and green greens, Japanese efficiency at its finest, save that water!
tmh44 it’s fall there and the grass has gone dormant....are you that stupid?
The course colour looks like this because it’s winter play here in the summer and it’s lush and very green
Great video! What is this beat though? It slaps!
6:43 is straight facts!
play golf in winters tx!! we have a small 9 hole course it’s not even on the map!!
What music is this so awesome
That was cool. Love Japan.
you gotta start to add in the description of your clothes and accessories (sunglasses, hat, etc) with links as to where we can get them. I think a lot of people would appreciate it.
More Japan! Love this
Erik, random question but what brand are your sunglasses. they are awesome like the videos, keep it up (y)
Garrett Leight
Japan is the most amazing place!
Erik, next time you go to Japan try to make it down to Okinawa for a round there

what country is erik from, because Kauri Cliffs is in New Zealand and is my favourite course.
Excited to see Arizona adventures at some point
Pocari sweat is awesome haha
The shoe squeak was a nice touch haha
Where is that sweater from ?
Pocar sweat! Tastes so much better than Gatorade, that is unless you get powdered Gatorade and start mixing up the flavors
EAL...did those carts automatically follow the cartpath?
Yes. Like a magnet or something
New Zealand videos coming soon??
Japanese fluent EAL! who are you? lol. new sub from Korea. Before the invention of self driving cart, it was 4 bag 4 women caddies system with pull cart in Japan and Korea. Yes, after 18 holes... Awesome. Gorgeous video for sure!
You're giving me a real Dax Shepard vibe in this one.... lmao
"...sometimes you just wanna tee it up with the boys, right?"
