    Despite hyperbolic claims the BOM only gave the US military relative parity. The IJN was never able to keep pace with American industry. What Japan needed 12 years to build up America did in 6 months. America would have had parity by late 1943 to early 1944 even if the IJN had won at Midway. The BOM did not decide the pacific campaign so much as greatly move up the time table of Japans loss of influence.

    I know this is old but having recently ordered this book.. In the presentation it's stated that Yamamoto knew the aircraft carrier was going to be the "key to future navel success" and yet his plan at Midway was built around his battleships as the prime weapon to kill the US aircraft carriers. This seems like a bit of a contradiction.
