- A selection of songs from Paul da Vinci's 60's/70's Explosion show, including "Sugar Baby Love". Paul sang the vocal (high and low) on the original Rubettes 8 million selling record and had solo hits with "Your Baby Ain't Your Baby Anymore" and "If You Get Hurt" which he wrote and produced and then in the 80's was guest vocalist on Tight Fit's hit "Back To The Sixties ptII". Paul is now booking out his new show 60's/70's Explosion featuring his fantastic band. www.pauldavinci.net

How was this man not a more well known global success? Original singer of sugar baby love, absolutely fantastic, everything he sings is amazing. What a voice!

I dont know how many records paul sold but with a voice like
that it wasnt enough,without a doubt one of the greatest singers of alltime how many dingers could hit those notes, youre baby aint your baby anymore is still my favourite song of alltime and i also love she'll only hurt you what a voice

It's heartbreaking to see that PDV was shunned for providing the vocals of one of the all time best songs in SBL. Maybe now that Alan Williams and his ego has split from the rest of The Rubettes, Paul could hook up with them for a tour. Once one's heard that Paul was the original vocalist, it's hard to watch any videos of Williams singing it. Williams couldn't string Da Vinici's Boots when it comes to singing. Much Love from Bonnie Scotland mate.
Just phenomenal. I don't think I have ever come across someone with such a fantastic vocal range. I feel so bad that he could not perform with the Rubettes and that his fantastic work was mimed.

Just curious what’s the amp the guitarist is using I can see it’s 112 but don’t recognise the actual make does anybody know? Also worth a note although it’s got a mic in front of it nothing is plugged into it?

Thank you for 'Your Baby' and now need to thank you for Sugar Baby Love (had no idea until Bill1951 commented on a Rubettes vid). Terrific songs that gave millions lots of pleasure.

Am I the only one to think that you also recorded the head voice (falsetto lead vocals and also the part behind John's spoken voice at the end)) on Tonight ?? It sounds so much like the head voice on SBL and not like Alan's head voice in Juke Box Jive. And what about the last notes of Teenage Dream ? It also sounds a bit like your voice though Bill once told me he recorded the whole song.

No one can sing that high, falsetto or not. I know that treatment was added on SBL by slightly altering the ips, hence the speed of the song. These days they use 'Autotune.' Any way, I was the engineer, so Paul, you know the story.
Very flattering Clint,to suggest that no one could sing that high. I recorded that vocal at 1.30 in the morning at Lansdown studios in Holland Park . I sang it. I know . I actually suggested it be sung up the octave from the way it had been written as it was not working sung lower. I have also performed the song in the original key live many, many times. You were not the engineer on the record were you? From the Rubettes only John Richardson played or sang (Bv's) on the record. I sang the A and the B side. Alan Williams did not sing or play a note on the record.
