    Excellently simple how-to videos.
    I've just replaced the brushes on my old Hotpoint WM52 -pretty similar to the model you worked on. Cost of brushes from local shop: £7.99. Cost of your videos: £0 but absolutely priceless!
    I'm now on my second load of washing and the belt hasn't fallen off, the motor's still stable and new brushes are still in tact - all thanks to you :D

    Only thing about this video is that we do not get to see how you got the motor out from the machine. This can be a difficult job and is also different depending on model and make!

    Hotpoint no longer sell/make the old motor, and when they last came to replace mine they fitted a new motor. However I would like to know (as I found an old motor) whether I can reinstall the old motor, would I have to adjust some things, or is simply fit the old one and go?
    Model: WM31W
    Timer control electronic
    Motor position: above the tub.
    Thanks

      @@ultimatehandyman brushed are fitted and the motor works again! Just another question for you. There is a sort of whiring noise now which I have tracked down to the motor itself. This isn't a noise that I had before fixing. Is it just the new brushes wearing in? Thanks again for the help

      As long at the belt tension is tight, the noise should not be anything to worry about.

    @ultimatehandyman Mines a hotpoint aquarius 1200 btw. So are there more springs to the suspension then just 2 on the top breeze block? Could it just be wear on tear on these springs or is there more to it then just those two top springs? I checked that the breeze block was tight with a spanner and seems ok.

    Some brushes come with plastic mold.
    Is it possible to remove old brushes and put the new one in the same plastic mold?

    • @ultimatehandyman
      @ultimatehandyman  6 лет назад +1

      Yes, it is possible but normally if you buy new brushes they come with the plastic insert.
      Thanks for the comment

    When you change the brushes, when you start the washing machine makes a different noise?

    • @ultimatehandyman
      @ultimatehandyman  10 лет назад

      Not really, normally if the brushes have failed the machine will not run until they are replaced.

    Thanks now I know what wahing machine repair guys mean when they say "well its usually brushes that go" When they do go on mine think I should be able to repair it myself now. Theres always that simple test to see if the bearings have gone by placing your hand on the edge of the drum and seeing if it moves up and down. My machine is banging about more recently though. When I look at the drum movement it doesnt run exactly straight. Cant see how to get to the back anyhow only the top comes off.
