    People do not give Chad Reed the props he deserves at times at just how beautiful he rode that 2 stroke. So smooth with timing and keeping his bike low over those big triples. Had there been no RC and JS during his career Chad would have easily owned all the records and would be the winningest rider in AMA history. He basically was on the box 90% of his career

    To me, this era was one of the most beautiful because of the sound of all the 2-strokes peppered with the grunt of the new fours. LOVE The combination!

      I know what you mean, but your more accurate around 2000. By 2004 the line was almost all 4-strokes. From 1998 when Yamaha started selling them, it took 8 years for the pro starting line to be all 4-strokes, with RC and James selling out last,--and they were sill winning. :)
      I remember when RC announced that he was switching to 4-strokes during a race I think, up in the box. I remember him choke a bit when he said, "They are the future", as if he was told to say that and really didn't want to. Just my guess, but he did choke a bit. Now, he is selling out anything he is told. He was a lot smarter on the track.

      @@hydrofarmer15 That opinion only has data back to the 90's. The time before the 1986 production rule was the best, with the most racers/riders across the nation with affordable bikes that a 13 year old kid could buy, a manufacture race to a better bike every year, with the USA becoming the best racers in the world, and the racers having a personality. You should have seen Bob Hannah fill up the stadiums. But much more than that, many more bikes were sold. From 86 on, because bikes tripled in price in a short 5 years after the 1986 production rule, the sport started its decline. But the 90's were still very good indeed. But a kid could no longer buy his own bike with a kid job. The 70's and early 80's in MX were a lot like the slightly earlier muscle car era, with tons of free market activity and freedom going on. It was wonderful. The early Mt. Bike industry was much the same too, with any cyclist with a machine shop getting into the early act, and of course with the early automobile, where over 1000 companies were making (or trying to) make the new cars. That shit is fun stuff man, the early part of an industry. Especially if you are in a skilled position to be involved. If you are not staring a new industry, the best time to get involved with a growing one, is at the beginning. That is where the most opportunity is. :)

      @@ImGoingSupersonic I see it differently today. I see the tracks designed (by the FIM), to keep everybody the same speed. We say it makes closer racing, but it does that by slowing down the best talent so the lesser talent has a chance,---to win a trophy, (if you know what I mean---for everybody). I don't like to see everybody going the same speed, it is like a parade to me. In fact, you will see very little passing after lap 10 of a 20-27 lap race today, as they don't get faster, but just make less mistakes. I miss the days when the racer had no idea what the track was like, and almost nobody had it wired. We could see who had the best talent, and they would actually have enough confidence to say "I am going to win this race/championship", which they do not say anymore---and that is also psychological sabotage IMO, keeping a guy from being great. I would rather see a mud race now, or even hill climbing, where I can see who is the best.
      I do love a parade though to,---just not for racing.

    Great racing, but the energy of this Championship was so low compared to past years. No McGrath. No Carmichael. Pastrana injured. Nobody liked Vuilleman. A perfect chance for Kevin Windham, but who the fuck is Chad Reed? Even the announcers are different. Just a different vibe overall, but now that we love Chad Reed, it's cool to look back and remember the beginning of his dominance, and it's cool to remember the other top 10 guys and how special they were.

    The FIM had failed a couple times with a world SX series before this. And here they add it in our series. Chad was smart. Said he sat out the 2 rounds of the infiltration world series rounds with a shoulder injury. I doubt he gave a damn about the FIM "piggy back ride" alternate world championship anyway. Little did we know, this was a stepping stone of the FIM to totally take over USA SX, and make the tracks terrible for the best talent in the USA. The FIM, they are as sneaky and self serving as communism, just taking over stuff that other built, and of course, screwing it up.

    • @EarthSurferUSA
      @EarthSurferUSA 2 года назад

      The AMA is not a separate entity from the FIM. The AMA is really an arm of the FIM, and they do what the FIM tells them to do. I learned that during the 2001 promoters conflict. Nobody in the AMA is getting rich from our racing. But all the politicians who claim to be for the little guy sure get much more rich than their paychecks to represent us add up to. When you hear somebody tell you, "We have to go after the rich", and that person is a politician, that means you will never be able to get rich if they get their way.

  • @TwistLosi

    The whole fuel thing was garbage just like when it happened with Suzuki and RC which he threatened the AMA to forfeit the series if they did not give his points back and well they did.

  • @stephenwilson1012
    @stephenwilson1012 3 года назад

    So they found "traces" of lead in reeds fuel but wouldn't tell them how much or what. I wonder if they pulled that so they could run the title chase out. Bc with no ricky and Chad already won I bet they would've lost alot of viewers.

    • @EarthSurferUSA

      The over powered regulators do not care about the bikes, riders, our cars, how we live. They only care about their power, no matter how nonsensical their rules are in reality. They have the power to destroy everything we can build, and it is not only wrong, but evil.
