I agree with all of your commentary and assertions. SHOEI helmets are just head above the rest, certainly a step up from the likes of Bell etc. The level of detail and manufacture techniques used aren't commonly seen on the market these days, you pay a lot, but you pay for the quality and piece of mind.

Great salesman! I am that middle aged man with an R9T and that's why I bought this helmet to replace my Arai racing helmets from the S1000R. This helmet is expensive compared to Roeg etc but it's worth every penny!! Regularly go from Calais to Amsterdam at speed and this is perfect. Get both the tinted and yellow visors when you buy one.

I have the SHOEI JO in white, Large size. A perfect fit for my white Vespa GTS 300. Looked at Bell Custom 500, Bell Riot, Nolan etc. None really felt 'right'. The Bell was the biggest problem for me, while the bottom squeezed against the cheeks, the top felt like my head was floating in free space. It was also hard to put on the head without cheek protectors rubbing hard against my skin. The SHOEI JO felt like I worn it already as it fitted snug around all of my head/face. I also have 'elongated' head a bit, front to back, so if you are one of those this helmet will be your perfect mate.
It's not all about the price, people should stop comparing Shoei against more pedestrian brands like Bell etc. They make the the Rolls Royce of the helmets and JO is one of those. That's me :)

@@Sondre3910 Nope, neither Medium (wife's) nor Large one (mine) fit inside the bucket under GTS 300 seat. I believe Small could but it will be a tight push.

@@Sondre3910 That particular thing is like chasing a rainbow. Give up on that idea and get yourself a helmet you like. For me is J-O in Summer/Spring and Glamster for Autumn/Winter. Nothing comes close for me, style, function and quality wise.

@@drazenbabich Yeah. I do not fancy a top box, and I can still lock it with the D ring to the under seat securement. I will most likely get the Shoei Jo. Thanks for replying, and drive safe!

I have one, it's a fantastic lid. I'm not a big fan of the old piss pot open face and 90% of time I do use a full face (dentists charge too much) but when I'm on the vintage cruiser I have in summer theres nothing better. Great helmet and the visor is great as well. I've had a few bell helmets and your comments about fit are spot on.

I didn’t know you can adjust the visor .
I thought it was pointless crap.

Just adjusted it to the lowest setting and will try it on my next ride.
    Thanks a lot!!

The drop down visor CLEARLY make the JO louder when it’s down. I have it, I know - and others elsewhere have confirmed.

    • @Motolegends
      @Motolegends  4 года назад +9

We don’t agree with your assertion; and as far as we’re concerned there's no ‘CLEARLY’ about it. Your dogmatic position is basically based solely on your own experience, although you claim that others agree. We have sold many hundreds of J.O.s, and have had feedback from many dozens of users. Nobody we have spoken to shares your view. It may be that for you, or your bike, and given the way that air comes over your bars or screen, this is your finding, but it is not the general consensus. If the helmet has been properly fitted, with the correct headliner and cheek pads, we think the J.O. is by far the quietest open face helmet on the market. Many independent reviewers on the internet have commented that with the visor lowered, the noise levels reduce. And that is our view too. Please understand, we do this for a living. We meet thousands of customers, and deal with manufacturers and designers across the industry. If we make a claim about a helmet, we cannot guarantee that it will be the same for everybody. But our views are formed not purely on the basis of our own experience, but on those of many, many users. ML

Kris Van de Vijver I know your post is old. In my experience, it’s quiet helmet with visor down, but quieter with visor up and sunglasses. At least, it’s MY OWN EXPERIENCE. What helps, is tilting your head forward a little with high speed riding. Ride safe!

You are right, I have ridden 30 minutes and the sound is killing your ears. I will tell why that is.
On the to corners where the visor is mount to the helmet there is a gap. The wind blows trough that gap what makes terible noise even with earpluggs in.
Pull your hand to cover that gap and the noise is gone. Visor up and there is also no terble noise.
I have returned the helmet. That problem occure to all helmets with an internal mount visor.

I bought one of these about 3 years ago but sold it as it wasn't as good as my Premier Vintage helmet. I bought the J.O. on the basis it was going to be quieter than the Premier. It wasn't...
Having said that the J.O is nicely made and offers some nice colours and graphics.

Its such a difficult time at present to be able to visit shops and try things as one normally would so the more research you can do on line the better. This looks the best open face currently available and your review is very informative but can you tell me please the size in MM the check pads that come as standard in the J.O ?

    • @Motolegends

35mm is the standard. You can go down to a 31mm or up to 39mm or 43mm.

You look strange without a waistcoat! Lol! I would never wear an open face. I've seen the damage they cause even "just" falling off a 50cc scooter. My pretty face is delicate.
Though I have been to a biker meet and many people have said look at the size of his helmet!! (Sorry!! Lol!!))
