@@friezathenonceslayer8200 I didn’t like it whatsoever. I didn’t like Godzilla’s design in the movie and how he was portrayed. To me it defeats the purpose of what Godzilla is
Personally. I loved the Godzilla suit from Godzilla 2000. Best Godzilla design ever. I really wish they had used that suit as a base for the current American Godzilla. The teeth, the scale color, Godzilla's eyes, the color of the backspines, the way his breath was animated. That suit felt really lifelike, it gave Godzilla good animal like movement, and really had a majestic look to it. That suit was so well done. I could rave about it for hours.

i'm just glad you left the giant spider on your table alone. most people in your situation would either scream or kill it. what most people don't get is that spiders and snakes are practically harmless unprovoked . snakes and spiders only attack if you instigate or attack them or in self defense.

Me usually: man I am so happy to see other people’s opinions and perspectives I love how unique the world is! Me seeing you our Final Wars in any tier below S: the lord is testing me
When you peel away the fanservice aspects of Final Wars you are left with a film that spent way too many scenes trying to ape The Matrix and is just kinda inferior compared to Destroy All Monsters, the film it was a spiritual successor to. That might have been part of the reason why it was such a flop at the Japanese Box Office.
@@b9v648 actually...yes. G14 might be among the Top 10 films of the brand, maybe even Top 5. The common critiques over lack of screen presence of the Monsters is fairly overdone, not only because what was done is a common trait in most Western Monster films(ex Alien, Jaws, Predator, Cloverfield etc.) But the times Godzilla did appear met the payoffs and the Monsters had a constant presence in the narrative. Considering how some raised similar complaints over Shin Godzilla, a film that swept the Japanese Academy Awards and even won Best Picture, it seems more a case of many just unable to grasp they were going to Godzilla with a different experience than what they grew up with when these films tried to cater more to the series' origins. Also that comparison bares a dark irony: Final Wars did so badly at the Box Office that TOHO almost shelved the film series for good, and only gained interest in the brand again after the success of 2014. But Final Wars isn't all bad: it's better than 98, it's better than Megalon, it's better than Sea Monster, it's miles better than CotEoB or Revenge. But it doesn't change the fact that the film tends to be a little overrated in the Goji community just because of the "everyone is here" mindset.
No no no no no, Final wars was the Godzilla equivalent of the Rise of Skywalker. Built up as the huge culmination and then ruined with a bad story, boring characters and over the top fan service #ILoveZilla
Finally someone who agrees that Godzilla 2014 is fantastic. I see people complain that there’s not enough monster action and while I agree, I think that by doing that it adds far more value to the scenes that do have action. The cinematography like you said is perfection. I for one love movies with a darker tone the most and this one has the perfect tone in my opinion. The mystery, the atmosphere, the tension, it’s all there. I had actually never watched a monster movie before Godzilla 2014. I watched the 2000s King Kong movie when I was little but that’s it. I knew about Godzilla, but I hadn’t watched a Godzilla movie before. I remember when the first trailer hit RUclips it was that scene where they were jumping from the plane in pitch black, flying past Godzilla and the Mutos (I think that’s what they’re called) while they were fighting, with the kind of scary music in the background, and all that was going through my head was that I had no clue what this was about, but I had to watch it lol. It will probably remain my favorite movie of this new Godzilla movie universe. Edit: I also loved that they made Godzilla the protector rather than the one destroying and killing everything. He may have been a good guy in the past, but I just remember growing up Godzilla was always the big lizard that terrorized the city. Glad they changed it up.
Destroyah vs Godzilla is the best, atleast for me. The suit, the soundtrack, the horror vibes, and the main plot just brings it to a great conclusion. Godzilla (2014) brings those horror, dark abyss foggy weathers from the (1954) film, and the mutos, are just the BEST! I have a debate between this one the 1995 and the 1954.
I personally like King of the monster more than the 2014 movie. King of the monsters felt more like a movie made for godzilla fans. You had the theme, You had glimpses of the iconic roar, The Mothra theme was in it as well. Out of all the legendary Godzilla movies King of the monsters is my favourite.
I actually love the Final Wars design! It always seemed like a culmination of all the best design aspects from all the previous suites streamlined for battle.
I loved Godzilla vs Megalon as a kid, rewatched as an adult and still love it. Probably one of the best fights in the series. The teamwork aspect between godzilla and jet jaguar. The fun fight choreography. The surprise gigan entrance. Not a single word of dialogue is spoken, and yet theres an entire story and rollercoaster of emotions in the fight. If it was a tag team wrestling match, it would be remembered as masterpiece. 👌🏼
I love these kinds of videos because I feel like every G fan has a widely different list for different reasons. I don’t agree with some of these takes but loved hearing your thoughts!
What I love about the Godzilla community is how everyone has different tastes, and we’re introduced to Godzilla in different ways. But what we have in common is an undeniable love for the G man! I just wish everyone was as respectful about other peoples opinions as you are. - Alastair
My main problem with 2014 is that the character arnt interesting especially spending alot of time on the human side, the story is abit sluggish and boring, nothing happens, it's too dark, the pacing seems abit long at points, and more but godzilla they don't utilize until the last 15 minutes of the film but u can't see shit so that why I say it's a 6/10 I probably put it around c or b teir tbh. But I do like the final fight in general and the camera being around human height soundtrack all that.
Out of all the Godzilla films I have in my collection my favorite ones are Godzilla vs Mothra from the 90s, Godzilla 1998, Godzilla 2014, Godzilla King of the Monsters 2019 and Godzilla vs Kong. Those are basically all the ones I love the most even though I still do have as much equal love, appreciation and admiration for all the other Godzilla films and Mothra films and King Kong films and even the one Rodan film I have, I understand your input on the 1998 Godzilla film Alastair and I'm fine with it, your opinion matters too, but that film is one of the major ones from my childhood. It's one of the few Godzilla films that I watched countless times over and over again and it's one of the very Godzilla films that made me the Godzilla super fan I am today, but that's just me and like I said your opinion matters too so I've got absolutely nothing against what you said about that film when you ranked it. Terrific video by the way. Can't wait for the next one. All Hail the Mayor of Dangerville, my favorite guy of the channel, Alastair!!!!!👍👍👍❤❤❤
I'm gonna be completely honest I clicked on the video cause I saw kotm in c soooo heh. When u put in A I had food in my mouth so I just aggressively nodded my head and said *HMMMHH* ! Video was awesome didn't expect some if the list choices.
I actually really loved Godzilla vs Megalon but I can see why a lot of people don’t enjoy it. It’s drastically different from the others but the contrast sort of gives a breath of fresh air, not to say that the others in the series aren’t good. As a child the goofiness really appealed me so whenever I rewatch there’s always a massive sense of nostalgia.
I mean godzilla 2014 wasn't rlly that interesting just a simple in the box movie with decent fighting scenes most of the hype was just from seeing legendary godzilaa
For me personally it's an A between B... Too many humans interactions considering its a monster movie... Unlike the plot of the first movie, yes it has more scenes, but Godzilla has always been a dark character and a neutral being on our earth... He ain't no 119m tall superman.
Ehhh, 2019 sucked to me. The monster action was great, but was continously, PERSISTENTLY cutaway to the boring human drama. If it had less cutaways and more focus on the monster action, it would have been miles better. The movie spent way too much time trying to make us care about these characters that have zero personality.

Looking back at my ranking your kinda right with five stars thing. I could think about it and do a few improvements. Also, since I accidentally forgot about Godzilla (1998), I'd rate it at about 3.5/5 stars. Thanks for replying, though.
Personally I don't hate the 1998 Godzilla film. It was something that I enjoyed watching once in a while and sorta got me into Godzilla. It's a bit humorous with some of the dialogue and just the irony of a couple situations, so I would move it up to the "C" tier for it's unique, but not great take on a Godzilla film. I think if it wasn't for the Godzilla '98 being so bad in the eyes of fans and such, we might not have gotten the Monsterverse by Legendary and all it's accomplished so far.

You have a good list I do agree with you on a lot. My only problem with the new Godzilla movies like Godzilla 2014, Godzilla King of Monster and the new King Kong vs Godzilla is they made Godzilla way too big and wide. I think Godzilla looked his best in the Heisei series I liked how he was not too big. The new ones look exhausting to watch. Some of the showa films have aged and can be silly, but they are good for kids to get them into Godzilla and a lot of the Showa Godzillas's were geared towards younger audiences. The only dark one of Showa is Godzilla aka Gojira 1954. My favorite is the Heisei films, but it's cool you put Gojira at the top it is the father of the Godzilla films and that started it all.
The Heisei series is very tonally balanced, you get actually resonant themes, writing and quality filmmaking but they still have fun compelling well choreographed monster fights, a jack of all trades

"King of the monsters" was soo amazing, that after a half year i forgot entire movie. I will literally compare it to a gold turd...... it is beautiful but it stinks. Flies likes gold, but I just can't stand that smell and decide to move on.
People need to get over the KOTM criticisms. It is EASILY the best acted film other than the 1st or 2014 (and do we really give a shit about Quicksilver's adventures?). It missed huge opportunities to be a better film with bad writing choices and the fights cutting away or just having bad angles, which is offset by EASILY having the best fight scene moments in the franchise history. It's definitely an 'A' film and the only thing that could keep it from being 'S' is the wasted potential of Ghidorah being a living apocalypse....mostly off camera. I could change 20 minutes of that film and it would be hands down the greatest monster movie in history.
@Khaleel Morris I am actually a writer (not good enough to do it professionally, but pretty good at what I care about). Fixing it wouldn't be due to my brilliance, but because of some simple mistakes that anyone can make if they don't get a good impartial opinion to bounce their ideas off of. You take everything in the first 1/2 of the movie and leave it almost exactly as is. The setup is superb. You change the Ghidorah scene and make it so the mercenaries were looking for samples but the confrontation caused them to release him as a last resort (not even knowing if he would wake up). When he does it covers their escape and makes far more sense than "We have to release monsters to cleanse the Earth" nonsense. Make Emma and Mattie real kidnap victims because that entire plot thread is so stupid it takes you right out of the movie. I'm good with it right up to Ghidorah escaping after the oxygen destroyer (although 2 minutes of government nitwits deciding to do that would have been helpful). Then you HAVE TO establish Ghidorah's threat so instead of the DC scene, you show him destroying a city and everything the military throws at him being utterly ineffective. This means Godzilla becomes the world's last resort as Serizawa has been saying. Then you extend the time spent with the monsters instead of cutting back and forth during the final fight scene, don't have the soldiers all dying trying to find Madison (which made me wish they had just left her), and instead of Godzilla winning through the nuclear pulse, have it provide the difference in the fight, injuring Ghidorah and letting there be a final physical confrontation where Godzilla overpowers him (so he actually establishes dominance instead of some weird Mothra/Godzilla magic power up thing). Honestly everything else Daugherty did was great and all the elements were there for a great film. Just a few things hurt it that could be fixed so easily and without blowing up the budget. Sorry for the long response, I have been really passionate about Godzilla films for a good 50 years now.
@@b9v648 Actaully i like all the American ones imao, i havent watched the old ones, but from clips i dont think i like them. I like the more serious tone of 2019 and 14 and 98 i love its Godzilla for some reason, but it wasnt really godzilla
I always thought the reason there was so many stock clips from previous classic battles in All Monsters Attack is because Eiji Tsuburaya, the SFX director of the Showa series, had passed away that year (1969) and I thought it was a way to honor his work throughout the series
I didn't have too much of a problem with seeing the fights in King of the Monsters. Even in the moments where I was like trying to squint to see things, it wasn't that annoying. The main issue I had with the fights, which I eventually got used to, was the monsters (Godzilla specifically) kinda lost their weight and natural movement from 2014. All the movements in 2014 felt so big and weighty, like each step had momentum and flow to it. Most of the KOTM Kaiju don't have this issue, but Godzilla himself feels somewhat lighter and faster than he should be. Still, it's at least better than wanting to see fights that constantly cut away to the humans. Yes, KOTM has that as well, but they leave a good chunk of fighting on screen before doing that and don't spend AS long with the humans. 2014 just kept doing it over and over and it got so annoying that when I showed my friend, who has never watched a Godzilla movie in her life until that point, kept getting frustrated whenever they cut away. Doing it for buildup to Godzilla early on and midway through, I get, but at the very least the final fight should be 60% actual fighting.
King of the Monsters is a wonderfull combination between Showa and heisei movies. Bear mcready did an awesome Job as Composer. @@andrewinter4244 Oh, I'm not saying I didn't love the movie. So for, I've loved each of the Legendary Godzilla films, albeit for different reasons each time. 2014 for the CG, motion, and sound design, KOTM for the monster action and Titan lore, and GvK for monster action and monster relations development. And I still have my gripes with all of them. I don't tend to pay much attention to the score, so I don't remember GvK's score being that iffy, but I do know that one or two of the tracks from KOTM had me absolutely giddy. The theme that plays when Godzilla rises from the water after being blasted with the bomb being the most stand-out track to me. I will say, I'm not the biggest fan of the Showa Era movies, but I do understand that there is a bit of that in this movie's portrayal of Godzilla, but mostly in the early phase. He's more of an animal protecting his territory than a hero protecting the people.
@@matthewscorner2990 what you say about Godzilla x Kong i believe that will be the movie that will Push Godzilla even more into the humaniced way He acts and behave. I personally thought KOTM's color palette was overly distracting and obnoxious, especially with the overabundance of overly vibrant blue tinting. I get that the blue tinting is supposed to emulate Godzilla's atomic breath, but it gets incredibly overbearing.

I agree with your list and the criticism’s that go with them.I was born 1966 so my history watching GODZILLA movie’s is quite extensive,I just love the movies.
I love the 2014 movie. I like how bigger than life the Kaiju are portrayed. Also like that Godzilla is just an animal, a huge 1 but still an animal, I never got the feeling he was doing anything to save the world or humanity he was just an animal that felt threatened by his natural predator returning and tried to put them down before they reproduced, godzilla didn't care about the Mutos putting mankind back in the stone age lol. I like Godzilla as a unbias force of nature, not some type of savior or guardian, just something humanity has to deal with or live with. We don't care about the insects we probably step on daily so why would Godzilla care about us.

Funnily enough I liked Godzilla Vs Megalon more than Vs Gigan. IDK Gigan felt like they dragged it out way too long before getting any monster fights, but with Megalon, we got the monsters immediately, and it was just so campy that I couldn't help but love it.
This year I finally for the first time in my life have started watching ALL of the godzilla films. What's great is they are so easy to access these days, that I can actually watch them in order. I'm up to All Monsters Attack, and have watched all Showa Era Gamera movies as well.
I don't like Godzilla 2014 because it's too boring I hate the characters they're all boring and it's only like 9 Minutes of monster fighting I said and not to mention the movies over like 2 hours so this this is pretty trashy of a movie because a pretty much stuff and I also have some other problems it's too dark you can hardly even see the monsters fly so there's barely going to point that's why it's better just to see the monsters fight on RUclips then on actually the phone because you're wasting your time watching the flim
@@erniecholo8527 Well, the dark not much because of mystery, the problem is not the human presence, but how mostly boring are them, something didn't happen in the original one
Before I watch I'm just gonna say that Godzilla 2014 and 2019 movies would be S tier if there was less human drama and was just monsters fighting, to me at least. Although, they are great on their own
@@dr.shrimppuertorico1459 I just want a movie with the correct use of human perspective. The only use humans should have in a Godzilla movie is to show how monstrous and terrifying Godzilla is. Sadly I don't think we'll ever get anything like that.
@@dr.shrimppuertorico1459 lemme ask you something, are you producing the movie? No. You can't simply make a movie with full monster action when you can't profit much, a 1hr+ kaiju action would cost like $300m+ without a doubt and the max box office which these movies get is $400-600m. These aren't made only for you both or something, they need to balance the human scenes and kaiju action at the same time according to the budget and based on the profit, you can't blindly make a movie for 1-2hr monster action with CGI if you can't get an valuable profit of it. The Monsterverse fanbase isn't like Marvel or Star wars to create an movie with alot of monster action with $250-300m budget. So think before saying something like that and hating on these for less monster action.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) may not be the most loved, but it brought me back as a Godzilla fan. It also made me really like other monsters/Titans, such as King Ghidorah, Mothra, and Rodan. Hopefully, Godzilla vs Kong gets to be finalized.
I don't really hate Godzilla's or the 1998 Godzilla that much, probably because those two and Godzilla 2000 were the only movies I got to watch at first. Later of course I got some of the Heisei and Showa films as well as SOS and final wars but those three were my introduction.

@@fawfulmark2 so are you gonna sit there and tell me final wars was worse than Godzilla 2014........
Same but with Shin Godzilla

Godzilla (2014) brings those horror, dark abyss foggy weathers from the (1954) film, and the mutos, are just the BEST! I have a debate between this one the 1995 and the 1954.
I've got a good soundtrack suggestion if you haven't heard it

I personally like King of the monster more than the 2014 movie. King of the monsters felt more like a movie made for godzilla fans. Yes it’s not bad.

So do you love it or hate it because if you hate it you don’t belong here
@@sabretoothtiger4314 it could be a mix of love and hate, which isn't a bad thing at all.

I always thought the reason there was so many stock clips from previous classic battles in All Monsters Attack is because Eiji Tsuburaya, the SFX director of the Showa series, had passed away that year (1969) and I thought it was a way to honor his work throughout the series
Eiji died a month after All Monsters Attack released. It’s mainly budget reasons and the fact they were aiming more for kids.
@@DangerVille that does make more sense

And Godzilla hasnt Run Like that in vs Kong or KOTM. The worst Godzilla Films ever Made are the 2017/2018 Polygon Trilogie, Godzillas Revenge, son of Godzilla, Godzilla vs ebirah because the 1966 was going to be a movie featuring Kong again and the First to make Godzilla Acting Strange and unusual in His entire behaviour.
i agree with your s tier g14, g54, and Gojira Vs Destoroyah are my favorites
Godzilla: king of the monsters (2019) has the best colour palette and blue oyster cult at the end make that shit an S tier
Nope
Nah.
The film in my opinion deserves D or F.
I personally thought KOTM's color palette was overly distracting and obnoxious, especially with the overabundance of overly vibrant blue tinting. I get that the blue tinting is supposed to emulate Godzilla's atomic breath, but it gets incredibly overbearing.

Really great video and interesting tier list. I agree with your S and A tier lists, while I would add Godzilla v Mechagodzilla there as well. Great list and cannot wait to see where GvK goes. 👍👍🔥🔥🔥
Godzilla Vs MechaGodzilla ll was my ultimate favorite as a kid
I like the dark red tone but the 2019 is light blue and godzilla good guy
My reactions to each movie I watched:
Godzilla 1954: 😧
Godzilla Raids Again:😶
Godzilla Vs Kong: 😀
Mothra Vs Godzilla: 🤩
Ghidorah Three Headed Monster: 😌
Godzilla Vs Monster Zero: 🤨
Ebirah Horror Of The Deep: 😟
Son Of Godzilla: 😆
Destroy All Monsters: 🥳
Kong Vs Godzilla 2021: 🤩🤩🤩 👑 👑👑👑
Zilla: I hate life... I just wanted to be Loved why does anyone hate me
I love zila is cute and handsome and cool
Funnily enough I liked Godzilla Vs Megalon more than Vs Gigan. IDK Gigan felt like they dragged it out way too long before getting any monster fights, but with Megalon, we got the monsters immediately, and it was just so campy that I couldn't help but love it.
This is a great list!! The S category I agree with 100%!
This year I finally for the first time in my life have started watching ALL of the godzilla films. What's great is they are so easy to access these days, that I can actually watch them in order. I'm up to All Monsters Attack, and have watched all Showa Era Gamera movies as well.
In my opinion, the best Godzilla films ever made are : Gojira (1954), Shin Godzilla, Godzilla 2014 and Godzilla Vs Destoroyah (1995).
As soon as you put Godzilla vs Destoroyah in S, I subscribed
Before I watch I'm just gonna say that Godzilla 2014 and 2019 movies would be S tier if there was less human drama and was just monsters fighting, to me at least. Although, they are great on their own
2014 has beyond too much humans on camera i thought kotm was far better and deserved s tier and c or b for 2014
@@dr.shrimppuertorico1459 I just want a movie with the correct use of human perspective. The only use humans should have in a Godzilla movie is to show how monstrous and terrifying Godzilla is. Sadly I don't think we'll ever get anything like that.
@@Tee468 i feel they slowly learn each movie but i have the feeling they are always gonna use humans heavily
@@generalclanker2973 one your late as fuck two i dont really care that was 5 months ago im off the hype train getting ready to board the let there be carnage hype train. And let me just point out i said i feel and have a feeling you made all that based what i felt at that specific point in time.

Godzilla king of monsters is way beter then the last avangers movie
@Wesley VL
You mean Avengers Endgame? I highly disagree with that.
I think 2019 IS the most loved, everyone praises the movie nonstop.

@@wesleyvl8572 nah that's too big of a compliment. Endgame is better than kotm in a lot of ways

@@planesfireandrescueontop it was a good movie, people hate on it to much
I don't really hate Godzilla's or the 1998 Godzilla that much, probably because those two and Godzilla 2000 were the only movies I got to watch at first. Later of course I got some of the Heisei and Showa films as well as SOS and final wars but those three were my introduction.
