I love how this perfectly illustrates both bird's nature as raven's are notoriously curious while owls - pun intended - don't give two hoots about what is going on around them. Incidentally these two birds belong to two of the most intelligent bird families of Corvus and Strigiformes so you could look at it like this; the raven wants to learn everything about the owl while the owl already knows everything about the raven.
@@realtruth1448 You don't know much about owls. They're far from idiots. No birds of prey are idiots. They ride higher on the food chain than other species of birds.
@@mehwhatever695 They're annoying and don't understand when you don't want to interact with them and think you must hate them when you don't wanna talk
It's unique to know that these two bird species, the owl and the raven both represent an aspect of death in many different cultures. And just to see them together is very unique.
Intelligent raven is trying to find company and someone of relatable intelligence to play with. Owl has forgotten everything but dining and breathing. Poor lonesome raven becomes disappointed.
I don't think so. Looks more like a territorial dispute and the raven lost. Notice the raven always nervous and in a "take off" posture should the owl get aggressive. The owl seems nonplussed. Owls are classified as raptors for a reason. Ravens though not knowing the term raptor will recognize an owl for what it is and can do.
Not to be that guy, but Snowy Owls don't always hoot; they have some really weird scream/screech type of noises they make. Also, ravens don't actually caw like crows. They make a variety of pops, clucks, chortles, and screeches. Very interesting birds to listen to. If you like cool owl calls, look up the Barred Owl videos. Really cool, IMO.
@@irishgrl Yep. And hopefully some neophyte birding youtubers, who haven’t had the privilege of hearing these birds in person, now know just that much more about them.
I've copied this from Wikipedia... seems the owls do poop, what they regurgitate is the indigestible parts of their meals. Maybe the raven can digest the pellets??, but the owl still has a digestive track and needs to take poops ;) A pellet, in ornithology, is the mass of undigested parts of a bird's food that some bird species occasionally regurgitate. The contents of a bird's pellet depend on its diet, but can include the exoskeletons of insects, indigestible plant matter, bones, fur, feathers, bills, claws, and teeth. In falconry, the pellet is called a casting. The passing of pellets allows a bird to remove indigestible material from its proventriculus, or glandular stomach. In birds of prey, the regurgitation of pellets serves the bird's health in another way, by "scouring" parts of the digestive tract, including the gullet. Pellets are formed within six to ten hours of a meal in the bird's gizzard (muscular stomach).
I clearly observed Owl attempt to engage Raven into an epicurean discussion regarding silent swoop and claw extension while in pursuit of small, grey furry bits with long tails, and the sheer thrill of the steal. "Poppycock!", exclaims Raven. "Just follow me, and I'll show you some real fun. I'll show you where hundreds of 'em all hang out by these big green stinky boxes, right over heeer! This way!" Owl is not impressed. With no small air of superiority, he solemnly states, "Fun, is not part of the equation." "Well then, I"m outta here, you boring party pooper!" yells Raven, as he takes off into the sunset.

Like I said, original commenter made a joke that wasn't made to be taken at face value. Furthermore, I feel sort of bad to get into a religious argument on a lighthearted video. But . . why am I laughing?!
Rob you description is very similar to the included description by Bernd Heinrich, author of Mind of the Raven, thanks
The snowy owl is so ✨ F L U F F Y ✨
You can literally see him try to greet the owl. These two birds are so similar to a dog meeting a cat for the time.

Raven wants company. Owl willing to tolerate.

The owl can give the raven food. They have pellets, they don't shit. The regurgitate a food pellet.
+dkellable No.
I agree... it really does look like the raven is looking for a friend / playmate. All of his gestures and body language suggest that is what he wants
Owl: "Don't play this game with me, man"

silverlaughterLOL owls are the watchers of the skies

Woah buddy, Greek gods and goddesses were known wayyy before christiananity ever existed. With your logic, we could say that christiananity took away the animal symbols that were meant for the pagan gods. I'm going to assume you're probably a little younger, considering how you phrase your diction or maybe English isn't your native language, who knows. However, this isn't really the best place to comment this, since the original comment..

While, I apologize that my preference of proper spelling came off standoffish. The first reference of what we know as christiananity is from the 1st century A.D. While, specifically Greek gods were referenced 700-600 B.C.
As well, the Egyptian gods were the ones that had anthropomorphized forms.
Like I said, original commenter made a joke that wasn't made to be taken at face value. Furthermore, I feel sort of bad to get into a religious argument on a lighthearted video. Personally, I'm not religious in the slightest. I was raised Christian, but I could never get behind organized religion of any sort. Let's just agree to disagree; does that sound good?
