As someone who has eaten a lot of cliff bars throughout university definitely great for a quick/cheap meal to hold me over before my next break, he’s right just dense “healthy” candy bars lol
Yeah Clif bars are really just loaded with added sugar. They do have a decent amount of protein, but their first few ingredients usually are some form of sugar. Compared to other protein bars, they are significantly less nutritious.
@@GriffinWiebel This is not true of the "Builder" bars. They honestly have pretty good macros, especially at the price point (while also being vegan). 280 cal for 20 protein, 31 carbs, and 9g fat. Yes, the second, third, and fourth ingredients are some form of sugar, and it's followed up by oil, but the first ingredient is soy protein isolate. Definitely not widely "nutritious", but not a bad stop-gap if you're short on time and need convenience, and don't want just fat and carbs. They are low key delicious too (if you find a flavor you like).
@@TheJesster257 The Builder bars are better, but there are much better options on the market. Take SimplyProtein for example. One bar is 150 calories and packs a 15g protein punch with only 4.5g fat and, incredibly, 1g of added sugar. They def don't taste as fantastic as Clif bars, but they do their job well.
@GriffinWiebel Be careful, a lot of those bars with low sugar cheat by adding sugar alcohols, which are fine in relatively small amounts but can easily cause indigestion, bloating, and even a laxative effect in higher quantities. Most "low sugar" bars have about 7-8g of some kind of sugar alcohol, so I wouldn't eat more than 2 a day

I find they're best if you leave them in a pants pocket for a few hours; one which will keep them pressed against your leg. They get softer and a bit smoother, which I think really helps them. My personal favorite is the peanut butter banana.
I’ve usually left a couple of bars in my backpack which results in them getting absolutely flattened. I’m talking like at most 1/2 of the original thickness. Though not warmed, their compressed state results in a very different texture that I think should be tried at least once.

I bought a huge crunchy peanut butter and choco chip cliff bar pack at costco, and had to eat it for months. After having to eat these in both 40°C and -10°C weather, I have discovered that crunchy peanut butter cliff bars taste excellent when really hot, and the chocolate chip tastes overwhelmingly like cinnamon and not in a good way. However, when it is freezing, chocolate chip is quite good and kind of better than crunchy peanut. I was wondering about the rest of the flavours but Im glad Im not missing out much lol, I see why that specific combination of flavours is sold in big packs at costco
I dunno maybe they changed the recipe for the peanut butter ones but I remember they used to just kind of melt on your hands and I wasn't a fan of the smell or texture when it got hotter.
I use to eat the chocolate peanut butter ones before work everyday when I worked in a kitchen inside of a grocery store. Those things were what stopped me from eating the food court food and spending way to much on it. Also like to see a video of this series where you were pleasantly surprised and not just tired from marathoning a bunch of take out
There used to be a Sierra Trail mix Flavor which was my all-time favorite. Usually I don't like peanut flavored stuff, but clif bars end up hitting the balance just right.
Funny seeing others here that lived off these in college / university. I think I must’ve tried like 80% of these when I was in school. Always had at least a couple in my backpack.
“Tastes like a candy bar” cuz it is haha Clif bars have so much sugar that most fitness folks wouldn’t eat them. That being said, I buy the Iced Oatmeal Z Bars every time I go to the grocery 😂 they’re delicious.
Oh man there are so many more flavors of cliff classics, there's this chocolate almond one I'm a big fan of that comes in a red package, there's also this green tea and crisps one that s a little caffeinated. I'm a huge fan of cliff bars. I was pretty excited to see this video
Personally I really like Clif bars, probably my favorite thing to eat when Im short on time and need something to hold me over for a long period of time. That being said, seeing this video appear I was worried that you would hate them haha. Not sure why I thought that but I'm glad you enjoyed them well enough
God, These and H2O Iv's powered my day through the pandemic and would be all I eat so roughly 4 a day but god I can't imagine 14 different ones in a single sitting. They are denser than the cliff they are cut off of.
from my experience, the regular clif bars are better for when you just need an instantaneous boost of energy, whereas builder bars are healthier and are better if you intend to retain whatever you might have gained from the workout. This is coming from someone who runs *a lot*, for whom the regular clif bars are life savers after a good 80-minute run so I don't just collapse onto the ground.
I always thought CLIF bars just tasted... artificial and a little gross. So I admire the man's dedication to going through them. There's just something about them that I find unpalatable - the hubsando used to get the White Chocolate Macadamia ones in particular a bit, then he found a different, more healthy brand he liked better. Amuses me that most of the ones my hubsando tended to get, Sungwon gave a solid B or B+ to. They were definitely a hard mid for me, as well!
The thing with the "peanut butter banana chocolate" flavor is that's a standard flavor for a protein smoothie (and a really good one at that). So it makes sense to make it in bar form even though it's a mouthful in more ways than one.
My stomach often had problems with protein powder shakes, and the clif builder bars were a lot better til I found something that worked for me. They're great for carrying around cons as well as a quick "my friend has been hoofing it in a costume for six hours straight and is hangry".
Would highly recommend leaving these in a pocket for a few hours and allowing them to get kind of warm. There’s nothing worse than a cold cliff bar, but I’d put a warm one almost on par with some cookies. The “builders” bars have always been kind of weird to me, not a fan. Z-Bars are fantastic, and are supposed to be marketed for kids, but the oatmeal cookie ones are great.
I've gone hiking in the winter with some cliff bars and I agree. Most of them freeze into a rock, but the peanut butter banana manages to not be impossible to bit into
I love their Mint Chocolate (I also like After Eight chocolates). Avoided peanut butter flavors because I don't think I'd be a fan but maybe I'll have to try some of them because of your video.
Hey Prozd, you may or may not care, but since you were fascinated by the taste of clif bars I'll clarify this for you. The reason you enjoyed these more than you thought is because clif bars aren't protein/healthy bars. They're energy bars in the sense that they can give you a boost of energy, but they're certainly not healthy nor a good protein bar option if what you're going for is increased protein consumption. Anyone who is looking for a serious protein bar to consume for their protein needs wouldn't touch these because they are loaded with carbs, specifically sugar, and have a decent amount of fat, and this also leads to a higher calorie bar compared to a traditional protein bar. The builder bars are definitely better, but still not great. They have comparable protein to "real" protein focused bars, but still load up on sugar. That's ultimately what makes them so palatable for your tastebuds, other protein bars use sugar alcohols or other sweeteners to save on calories (which also contributes to the off-taste). Don't get me wrong, they're delicious, and aren't the worst thing you could put in your body, just don't confuse them as being healthy or even "sort of" healthy by eating them. Go get some real protein bars and you'll find the sad/disgusting/off-taste bars you were expecting.
As a vegan, I am grateful for cliff bars. On road trips you can usually count on finding them in gas stations and the majority are vegan friendly. I think there are a couple with whey and honey which are no goes, but otherwise when you just need something to keep you going they can be clutch. And I think they are pretty tasty to boot.
My brother used to work in a factory that made these, basically they are contracted by other companies to make foodstuff like this on the company's behalf. Never heard any good stories about that place (not in a cleanliness way, but the way they treat their employees). Glad he got out of there and is now working at a different factory that is much nicer to their employees and also pays better as well.
Those chocolate nut butter ones are pretty dec but yeah, CLIF bars are basically candy bars with a slight "healthy" vibe to them. I guess the added bonus is they fill you up, so that's nice.
I've eaten a fair few Clif bars over the years. My brother has gone through phases where he liked them, so they'd be around before I moved out or when I visited home. Great for a hike, or maybe for breakfast if you're not going to eat lunch or much of a lunch and are also in a rush. Sungwon is so right, the peanut butter ones are GOATed, heads and shoulders above the rest. I also like the mint chocolate, but that's probably not for everyone. Most of the others are fine I guess, but I probably wouldn't waste the calories on them. The macadamia one though I think is nasty. The chocolate pb Builder bar is good, though not as good as the pb regular Clif bar. Never had the nut butter bars, but they look potentially good. I remember having the Z bars years ago; I seem to remember preferring regular Clif bars.
Oh also, would highly recommend trying the coconut chocolate chip, blueberry crisp, and also try the Apricot flavor, it’s horrible and tastes like you’ve been sprayed in the mouth with orange pledge furniture polish.
I actually used to buy the occasional box of Clif bars. Ten years ago I found HAIR in several Clif bars; I threw the rest away, and haven't touched their product since. Pretty disgusting, finding someone else's hair stuck in your mouth while you're trying to eat a supposedly 'healthy' product. Do their employees even bother to wash their hands after visiting the toilet? I wonder how much fecal matter ends up in Clif bars. There's no amount they could possibly spend on advertising that would convince me to look at their product with anything other than disgust. They need to fire their marketing department. Take that advertising budget and invest it into QUALITY CONTROL.
You are gonna poop an entire house later. Anything more that 1 cliffy is too many and I love those stupid things. White Chocolate Macadamia crew forever.
As someone who ate one 23 minutes ago, I can confirm that they can kinda feel like a brick- however, they make me feel amazing and are a clean and quick boost when you need it. Form? Alright but joy amazing. Function? Perfect!
White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cliff bar is SS+ tier for me. anything with peanut butter in it is instant F tier due to the fact that it just kills me lol
It would be cool if you could try as many Cadbury items as you can find (I live in the UK and there are like a billion different varieties, you would go into chocolate fatigue so quickly)
Oh hey, someone else has finally acknowledged that these exist, and aren't just a personal hallucination. I used to just treat these like snacks because they were in the candy bar section of the store.
I can always trust your reviews because you feel the same way about chocolate that I do. Also I feel like I remember way more Clif bar flavors but as someone who was vegetarian all through my adolescence and teens, I have seen MANY a protein bar, so I'm not certain which brand I'm remembering. I swear there was a white chocolate blueberry or something though.
Yeah there’s actually a ridiculous amount of different flavors, at my local jewel there’s gotta be at least 15 cliff bar flavors and another 12 s bars. On top of that some in this video I haven’t seen on those shelves
People have different tastes, some things get worse as they sit on shelves a long time, plus he went in assuming it was going to be absolutely horrible completely and ended up rating higher than Ds because he genuinely likes peanut butter and was suprised they weren't as bad as expected.
I'm an appreciator of Clif bars. If I've got a busy day but I wanna have a quick bite, they do a decent job of holding me over until I can get the time for a decent meal.
My favorite energy bars of all time. My favorite flavors are peanut butter filled with hazelnut, white chocolate macadamia nut and coconut chocolate chip. The reason why the white chocolate macadamia nut is bad is because they changed the recipe for it and the old recipe predating 2018 was *WWWAAAYYY* better. You forgot coconut chocolate chip, probably the best flavor.
PB Cliff bars and Nature Valley Oats and Honey bars were my saviors in college when I had my-schedule-and-mealtimes-by-extension-are-completely-messed-up days.
"All right, let's brainstorm ideas for Clif bar flavors, what do we have?" "How about chocolate?" "Great! what else?" "Peanut butter." "Keep the ideas coming, what's next?" "...different chocolate?"
Trying all the chef boyardee's canned pasta might be a cool idea for an episode.

Also like to see a video of this series where you were pleasantly surprised and not just tired from marathoning a bunch of take out
We need a let's try of some of the most popular protein bars! Quest, One, Carb Killa, Built, Outright, etc
it's funny how he's basically dead inside after the Fifth thing he rates, but the Animal Crossing sing is always so homey and heartwarming.
There used to be a Sierra Trail mix Flavor which was my all-time favorite. Usually I don't like peanut flavored stuff, but clif bars end up hitting the balance just right.
Yes those were the best! Peanut butter is my second fave now that those are apparently gone FOR SOME REASON.
They're gone? Nooooooooo
Oh crap, I forgot about those. Soooo good.
So there really was a trail mix flavor?! I thought I dreamed it. It was so good! 😭
as a dancer who practically runs on clif bars i’m so happy you did a review on these. they’re pretty tasty tbh :)
can’t believe you left out the Oatmeal Raisin flavor of the classic Clif bar
Funny seeing others here that lived off these in college / university. I think I must’ve tried like 80% of these when I was in school. Always had at least a couple in my backpack.
I've always thought about trying these but never have, I might look into whichever one you seem to like most I love granola bars, too
I will try the peanutbutter or the peanutbutter banana with dark chocolate, thank you
@@fluffyflareon4152 Go for the "Builder" bars. 280 cal, 20 protein per bar.
The peanut butter banana ones are so good! I have to stop myself when I buy a box of them.
Peanut Butter Banana with Dark Chocolate are hands down the best clif bar no contest.
Shoutout to the chocolate mint one, it's caffienated and got me thru many rough mornings at work
shit really? I've been missing out on the mint
“Tastes like a candy bar” cuz it is haha Clif bars have so much sugar that most fitness folks wouldn’t eat them.
That being said, I buy the Iced Oatmeal Z Bars every time I go to the grocery 😂 they’re delicious.
I've been hooked on the cliff protein bars since 2004. The mint and the peanut butter chocolate are the best. Glad to see there are more flavors now.
Oh man there are so many more flavors of cliff classics, there's this chocolate almond one I'm a big fan of that comes in a red package, there's also this green tea and crisps one that s a little caffeinated.
I'm a huge fan of cliff bars. I was pretty excited to see this video
FYI mint chocolate chip has as much caffeine as a coffee. I use them when I have a low blood sugar migraine.
Personally I really like Clif bars, probably my favorite thing to eat when Im short on time and need something to hold me over for a long period of time.
That being said, seeing this video appear I was worried that you would hate them haha. Not sure why I thought that but I'm glad you enjoyed them well enough
Duuuuuudeee!!!!!! You gotta try the carrot cake one.
And you're damn right peanut butter banana is S tier!
I think doing all the hungryman microwaved dinners would be pretty fun
14 healthy Clif bars should balance out the 29 Pop-Tarts
God, These and H2O Iv's powered my day through the pandemic and would be all I eat so roughly 4 a day but god I can't imagine 14 different ones in a single sitting. They are denser than the cliff they are cut off of.
Looks like ProZD is getting Cliffy with it.
Loved these things as a kid. The peanut butter one was my favorite along with a carrot cake one they had.
I've always defaulted to the mint chocolate and didnt much try the other flavors. Everyone is on about the PB Banana tho... I'll try it next time
peanut butter with how dense the cliff bars are feels like a more holistic flavour where as some are forced through the magic of Food science.
I practically lived on Clif bars in college. This video makes me want to go buy a bunch of them so they should be paying you.
from my experience, the regular clif bars are better for when you just need an instantaneous boost of energy, whereas builder bars are healthier and are better if you intend to retain whatever you might have gained from the workout.
Peanut butter banana w/ dark chocolate are my favorite. I'm glad you gave them an S rating! 😅
A new discovery in my life and absolutely goated
That's a favorite at my work. We sell at least 10x peanut butter banana w/ dark chocolate than any other flavor.
Make no mistake, after eating that much inulin he spent the next 24hrs in unimaginable pain and his bathroom will never smell the same again.
One thing in life I'll never understand is how peanut butter is so delicious when peanuts themselves are so unremarkable.
I love the Cool Mint bar when it's cold that shit slaps
I'm not surprised the peanut butter variations were the best. They are really good!
You are gonna poop an entire house later. Anything more that 1 cliffy is too many and I love those stupid things. White Chocolate Macadamia crew forever.
Holy shit I was eating a clif bar when this came out. White chocolate macadamia nut. I’m excited to see his review
As someone who ate one 23 minutes ago, I can confirm that they can kinda feel like a brick- however, they make me feel amazing and are a clean and quick boost when you need it. Form? Alright but joy amazing. Function? Perfect!
Honestly so nice to have these reviews again. ❤
a surprising favorite type of clif bars of mine is the fruit filled smoothie bar, i feel like sungwon would have liked them
White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cliff bar is SS+ tier for me. anything with peanut butter in it is instant F tier due to the fact that it just kills me lol
LUNA BARS. Gotta do luna bars dude. Chocolate peppermint is SO good. Lemon zest too. Could live off of those.
It would be cool if you could try as many Cadbury items as you can find (I live in the UK and there are like a billion different varieties, you would go into chocolate fatigue so quickly)
Next do Zone Perfect bar tier list. They are heavily underrated.
I just came to let you know I saw you in a movie trailer and to give you kudos and congratulations.
Blueberry bar is the best one! This was very fun to watch, I eat cliff bars regularly. The plain chocolate ones really are meh
@4:36 well, it's not like they're that much healthier than candy bars.
My favorite used to be the Crunchy Peanut Butter, until I developed a peanut allergy. Now the Chocolate Brownie is my go-to.
Those peanut butter banana bars hit different after you've been hiking for 7 miles with a 40 pound sack on you
1:06 "and this seems like a slightly healthier version"
Cliff bars are like nothing but brown rice syrup
Oh hey, someone else has finally acknowledged that these exist, and aren't just a personal hallucination. I used to just treat these like snacks because they were in the candy bar section of the store.
Hell yeah, AmatuerZD only tried 10 Clif Bars.
Nice. I always like watching these while having lunch and stuff. It's so comfy and cozy.
i love taking the builder parts and deconstructing them into their chewy and crunchy components
After seeing this, it would be interesting to see your take on every flavor or Lärabar
I looked it up. Blueberry almond crisp. That one is amazing and I highly recommend. I have a hard time finding it now though.
Yeah there’s actually a ridiculous amount of different flavors, at my local jewel there’s gotta be at least 15 cliff bar flavors and another 12 s bars. On top of that some in this video I haven’t seen on those shelves
as someone who has tried a clif bar before, seeing one rank above a D is actually extremely effective clickbait
I have so much to do right now but I'm watching a man eat 14 Clif bars instead and I'm okay with that.
A man tried 14 different Clif bars. This is how his colon shut down.
"All right, let's brainstorm ideas for Clif bar flavors, what do we have?"
"How about chocolate?"
"Great! what else?"
"Peanut butter."
"Keep the ideas coming, what's next?"
"...different chocolate?"
Peanut Butter Banana and Crunchy Peanut Butter are my 2 "S" tiers. I appreciate your choices this time.
And then, after 14 Clif Bars: trying 15 types of toilet paper.
