    I grew up in Lockhart in the mid-60's and I remember Lk. Apopka as a green scum pond that covered 1000's of acres. Good to see the fishery like it is and the improvement of the water. We used to only fish for Gar there but 8' to 12' was quite normal.

    Thank you for sharing! One question, what size hook are you using for the bubba ( your words 😂) shot?

    Islands all over aPOOPka? Where? 😂

    • @GinoLosi
      @GinoLosi  10 месяцев назад

      It's more like flooded little pieces of shoreline that stick out covered in trees. However, there are actual islands as well. Sorry for not being more clear.

    The neck is and has always been the hottest spot for giants careful not to hook the manatees. The lake is coming back sloely but surely

    JFC....FFS? Really, dude? Watching a couple guys pull big bass out of the lake with FFS, is like watching a pro bowler teach someone how to bowl with bumper guards up. But, I digress... Apopka is the perfect fishing lake due to people's impression of it. They're not only trying to clean it up, but they're also stocking (or used to), and no one eats anything out of it, and rightfully so....so, it's FULL of fish (and BIG alligators). So, short of destroying your boat or motor, it's the perfect fishery, in many ways. The problem is navigating the lake. You could be up on plane in 5ft of water, then out of absolute NO WHERE be in 6" of water. Especially, at the southern end of the lake, where one of the main ramps is (Winter Garden I believe). So, you'd better know where to launch, and how to navigate the water (which is entirely unposted, short of whatever graphs you may have), or you could have a miserable, incredibly costly, day. And, the graphs are good, but hardly perfect. If Gino is a guide then it's very possible that he's knows exactly how to navigate this lake, and knows where, or how to find the clear water, which is another major problem with Apopka (and many other central FL lakes). I'm very seriously considering hiring a guide for navigation reasons alone. The problem with that, is that that's an expensive boat ride. A lot of the Florida lakes are like that to some degree, but Apopka is the worst. But, again, I digress... It's a GREAT fishery.
