    I bought this recently based on yours and another YT’s recommendation. I bought it during the recent Black Friday sale, and I must say this is an amazing piano.
    I’m no professional-I play synths. I bought this so I can learn paino and improve my synth playing.
    It’s an amazing machine especially for my needs and purposes.
    Thank you for making this video.

    So happy I've discovered this product and this video has reassured me on my purchase, thanks!!
    Flagship key action in a sub £500 bracket is so easy for people to overlook. Nearly bought the Kawai VPC1 but this is honestly far more versatile not to mention portable, and to be realistic how often do you perform on a concert grand to justify the need for super "realistic" action? cant wait to get my hands on this board, an audio interface and some high end software piano sounds, this is a real gem!

    Just bought the D1. I've played piano for over 20 years. The key action is awesome. I find the best sound in the machine is when you layer Piano 1 with an EP and lower the volume of the EP. It gives you the sustain and mechanical noise of the EP while giving the character of the grand piano. I love it.

  • @madness8556
    @madness8556 2 года назад +3

    Korg should release a D2 with more sounds, pitch bend and modulation wheels, usb connectivety, the ability to split the keyboard and an internal power supply and I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

    Acoustic piano 3 sounds like a fuller version of the infamous Korg M1 piano!

  • @Zoco101
    @Zoco101 3 года назад +3

    It's nice to find this old review on the D1, which I see is still for sale. In many ways the instrument reminds me of the Yamaha P80 which had a very similar case and weight and no speakers, and even had the same sort of screen and all the cables bunched together at one end. Perhaps the sounds and action are more up-to-date on the D1 - dunno without trying it myself.
    This strikes me as a good instrument for hooking up to a voice expander like the V3 piano thing. Connecting to a voice expander might also be good way to get around the problem of not having a keyboard split on the D1 - I guess that depends on the voice expander. The D1 could also be used as a MIDI controller keyboard for VST instruments. Due to its superior RH3 action, I imagine that the D1 must be one of the cheapest keyboards which can do at least some justice to a quality VST piano. Can anybody else comment on that? And I wonder how the action compares to Roland's PHA-4 and PHA-50?

    • @Zoco101
      @Zoco101 Год назад +1

      It's a real shame that there's no 73-key version of this, like there is of the SV2. Maybe when the D2 comes out?

    I was just about to buy the studiologic SL88 but this may be a better fit to add to my korg Kronos. I like the fact it doesn’t have too many knobs because I’ve been wanting to have the master keyboard on top but have it positioned as close as possible to get the same ergonomics of a organ. I’m sold on the fact it has the RH3 keybed! My biggest concern was buying a controller blind.

  • @peterremke
    @peterremke Год назад +1

    I bought mine second hand in great condition.. Plus: It looks elegant, solidly build, feels indestructible, very easy to operate, no menus, not too heavy to transport. The action is heavy for me which is good to gain strength, I am pretty much a beginner. Minus: I think the sounds are not bad but also not inspiring, it doesn't feel very warm to me. I wish there was a way to increase the overall sustain slightly before using the pedal, my favourite piano sound cuts off way too quickly compared to my upright. I think it's good for the price.

      There are people who use it for practice at home, and it is more convenient to have speakers built in. Not everyone is a performer, some just play for fun.
      I personally use my keyboard as midi controller, I do think that build in voices are useless just like you think of speakers. Don't get me wrong, all my keys don't have speaker build in, but I think if I as a customer just wanna have some piano practice might as well go for the most convenient one. Cheers bro.

      I have the FP-30 and tried in the store the D1, way better keybed on the Fp30, it has a bit of texture syntethinc ivory and escapement, and feels more like a grand action ... the piano sound, again, the Roland piano has great long natural decay and the overtones are really close to a grand ... the D1 piano sound was dissapointing. But, there's another one you can try and I think you might like it more than both, the new Casio PX-S1000, check it out...

    The C1 Air has recently come down in price. Which one has better sounds? I kinda like the fact that D1 can be easily moved out of the way and it looks more professional, but I'd have to play it with headphones only until I get a new pair of studio monitors, so I can use my old ones for the piano. It also only has 1 pedal. Which do you think is the better buy considering C1 is only about 200 euros more?

    • @Zoco101
      @Zoco101 3 года назад

      I'm replying too late to help you choose, but I'd like to add that if you have to move your piano "out of the way" you will play it a lot less and it might get damaged from moving it to a cramped location unless you put it in a case first, which is even more complicated. Basically, I'm saying that if there isn't room to keep a piano set up properly, that's a shame.

    • @alexhamidi5336
      @alexhamidi5336 3 года назад +1

      I'll try to answer this as well as I can.
      If you're asking if it can be used as a midi controller for playback of samples in your DAW, yes, it can, and you should be able to use software to achieve this. That said, because it only has a midi output, you will need a usb midi interface such as a Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 or Behringer UMC404HD to connect it to a computer.
      If you are wondering if you can record and export or playback samples on this keyboard, it cannot. You will need a separate sampler/sequencer to achieve this, be it software or hardware.
      Sorry if I wasn't able to answer your question, those two were what I parsed from your initial post.

      @@MusicMan121 I ordered one and the keys were broken on arrival. Could be delivery or could be manufacturer defect. But I've ordered pianos through mail and it's never been a problem . I would pass this off as a shipping problem, but when it happens to more people all over the world, I question the manufacturer.

      In this video, we didn't use a keyboard amp. We just had the piano going straight into our UA Apollo interface, so the sound you are hearing in the video is the pure sound of the piano, without any colouring from an amp. Cheers - Murdoch

    Kawai es110 or this piano. Are the action on both of these piano have the same feels? because i also like the fact that this piano have a rh3 action and ivory feel but the negative thing is that it does not have a speaker. Which one would you recommend more? There is no store in my area by the way to try this piano

    • @gwapster13
      @gwapster13 5 лет назад +3

      I had a Kawai ES110, and replaced it with a Korg G1 (same key action as this D1). The ES110 keys had more bounce, but at the expense of more key noise, and I mean really noticeable thud sound at each press of the keys. But I guess that has more to do with the hollow cavity of the plastic casing of the Kawai not being "damped" enough, unlike the D1's much better enclosure. Also if it matters to you, on slow key press (soft notes) you would notice a bit of resistance point on the Korg like a simulated escapement but it's so slight and Korg doesn't even say it has it. Apart from being generally heavier weighted overall than ES110 keys, that is. But these nuanced things make the Korg key action a lot more realistic subjectively.

      I was in the market for a Digital Piano this week and after watching a number of reviews was convinced I would walk away with the Korg! NOT SO! The keyboard on the Korg is EXTREMELY heavy . . . too much so making it actually very difficult to play :( The Roland FP-30 was the one I went for. FAR better feeling than the Korg . . . which really surprised. me.

    If it had been made with a proper LCD screen, pitch and mod wheels, and internal power supply, it would be nearly flawless to me... Would be willing to pay 50-60 USD more for god's sake. I have no idea why designers and/or decision makers cut these kinds of things. I cannot understand. BTW, no need 30pce sounds, 10pce high quality ones would have been fine for this design. I would not miss those organ and guitar sounds.

    • @Mtaalas

      It's called market segmentation. There are those who have 700€ to spend, then those with 1200€ to spend and then those with 2500€ to spend... their needs and spending power is segmented as well. Anyone professional would go and spend that 2500€ so they get best money can buy with all the whistles, but someone playing at home or accompanying the school choir doesn't really need that now do they?
      They cut features that professionals and advanced players need to they can sell different price product for different need.
