Love the build. Airlines on most tractors today are colour coded blue and red with black being the power cable. If the lines are black which might be on older trucks, the gladhands that connect to the trailer are blue and red. The ends are different anyway so they can’t be connected incorrectly. Love these classic trucks.
I've been a model truck builder for year's and I scratch build them for oil field use I starch the frame and put winches and gin polls on them to mimic what they look like great build.
Watching this inspired me to go in the garage and break out my old kits from the 80's. I started when I was about 11 and became obsessed with detail belts, hoses, plug and battery wires, fuel and trans. lines it got pretty bad in the sense that all I did was build for about 4 years straight. I gave it up for that reason but I'd like to get back to it, I was never calmer, it was almost zen like meditation!! Great job by the way.
I always painted my models before I assembled anything. Unless there were things like the frame and suspension bits, things that were going to be the same color. I would put all that together prior to painting. I hate that I lost my model collection a while back. I built my models with full plumbing and wiring. I did things like cut window shells, like this and my Autocar had, and put the door windows in partial up or down position. Also have the drivers side visor down. My Peterbilt that I never got to finish, I even had airlines on the gear shift. I was going to put airlines from the engine, all the way back to the air tanks, and to each brake canister. bummer I lost my dang model collection! 😠 I'm just about to go get a model kit here soon and start up again. I miss building. P.s. I wish I had your talent for weathering the model. that looks fantastic! I don't have that kind of skill.
There's always time to get back into the hobby. Just remember, you build your way for you and others will build their way for themselves. Above all, have fun your way and let others have their fun their way. :)
I love the fifth wheel grease touch that stuff gets everywhere, if you get a tiny bit of it on you next thing you in know it's on your seat , your doors, your clothes , etc... Fantastic build .
I built this last winter, and stretched it 4 inches or so and scratch built a wooden cargo bed with a tarp cover. I bought another one last month and am going to build it up as a tractor, pretty much box stock.
Beautiful work and very info packed, Chris! I haven’t built a semi tractor since the late 70s, I’m going to dive in again. I love this truck, looks like she’s seen a lot of action going back-and-forth across the country on I 70.
What's holding me up is the mounting of the rear and center axel to the suspension, the picture is confusing me. Do I delicately mount it the raised tabs or does it sit flush on the suspension with the tabs to the rear of it?
Looks like a great kit, nice work. I like that your videos go from opening the box to the finished product with building and painting details. Well done.
Just came back for a second look while watching your Livestock trailer video and noticed something, may I suggest you dust up the windshield with wiper marks on it, it looks too clean. lol.
Great idea to align the frame, I built mine and the cab was slightly skewed which made the hood have a slightly wider gap on one side, lucky I was able to reglue the cab onto the frame pins straighter, I am just putting the chrome details now, It is a pretty good kit.
I love all your build’s there awesome thank you for all the ,ideas you give you make model building fun and enjoyable thanks again ,can’t wait for the next one
I love the job you did on the weathering. It is inspiring me to make amt’s kenworth k123 cabover truck with almost the same weathering affects. Do you think the dust weathering would work with acrylics? One more question: where do you get the colored vasoline
Hey just a quick tip. Instead of painting over your chrome parts, soak them in bleach and it will strip the chrome off. I love watching your builds. I get many ideas for mine from you. Keep up the great work.

I really like the detail you put into your models to make them look like they would in reality, but one thing I can say is the size of model chain you would use is huge compared to scale the scale of chain used would be 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch in reality.

Since you leave alot of parts on sprue to paint them what do you do to fix the bare spots when you cut them off?

Simple green degreaser
What liquid was mixed with the chalk?
You can mix windex if you want to wash it on.
@@hpiguy thanks for the quick response!
Turned out great. Have you ever done the revell 77 gmc snow plow kit? Id love to see you do that one. Did you ever build the green amt Mack?
Take care.
Haven't built those yet, I do have the GMC kit, should get to that this Winter when the snow inspires me and makes for some good outdoor shots.
Love your videos and I just subscribed.
Thanks Jerry!
Beautiful build!👍😎👍
Thanks a lot Poppy!
I love the small detail you do like the vaseline on the 5th wheel
Thanks for watching!

nice build but missing one thing? most tractors have a whip antenna. most kits do not come with this specific item
Looks like the real deal Chris! Great job! 👍
Thank you!
hpiguys Workshop - YW!
Looks great. The only problem I foresee in the future (no pun intended lol) is the dust that will accumulate on the model and fifth wheel in particular. It's going to stick to that 'grease' like crazy
I have glass display cases or yes, dust will cover them eventually.
25:05 you were saying I know your going to ask I just know it so here's the name of the chain,LOL!!!!The tractorcame out great Chris!!!!
