Good advice. She is not sticking to her budget.
She needs help sounds like she's having panic attack.
I wonder why.
She sounds like she has half the braincells of an average human being.
And a virtual affair lol
Dave's face when she said "It's like we're having an affair" haha! Hopefully Dave's team will sort Yolanda's budget.
His team works with callers?
@@OldestOf13At the end he says that hes going to get one of his financial coaches to go through Yolanda's take home pay figures and budget
Hey wait!! I must be having an affair, then, too because I listened to DR all during my contracting job when I was bored AND in the car, and I am actually learning something. And by the way, BEANS and RICE are tasting good right now when I dont have alot of bills or credit issues.
It was a creepy comment that implies this woman doesn't understand normal social boundaries.
I had to play that part 3 times I couldn't stop laughing lol
Caller : “...we’re having an affair ...”
Dave : 😳😳😳🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴
Take-home pay earning $130K in San Diego with 1 personal exemption and no 401K contributions: $88,611. So this woman's stated take-home pay is exactly right, and Dave is wrong.
Yeah, Dave's tax beliefs are frequently wrong. He needs to re-educate himself in that realm, because he's clearly operating under outdated beliefs.
California taxes so much Dave can’t believe it 😂😂😂
avril14thlove yeah he’s terrible at calculating take home pay
Because Dave thinks everyone lives in a free state tax state like Florida.
Assuming single and the standard deduction, federal taxes are about 22,400, FICA are about 9,500, and CA tax are about 8,900. Yes, I agree it is about 89,000 after tax.
"It's like we're having an affair"
The next caller is about to be Dave's wife 😂
😂😂😂 that was hilarious!!
lol I cant believe she said that.
Is there an addiction problem....
Lolol when she said “it’s like we’re having an affair” I fell outta my chair laughing. 😂😭
She’s a sweet lady, hope she gets this mess sorted.
Sweet lady? She drove me insane during this call.
I burst 💥 laughing at your comment 😂
With $47,000 Income I manage my money to have $5500 year end savings with 0 debt after feeding a family of 8 !
Good job!
Yeah great job Lar.
Thats alot of mouths to feed!
Quit having kids 🤦🏼♂️

Soooooo true you have to pay attention to your money.
Honestly I would love to see calls from people making $20,000 - $65,000. All these people making 100k+ are just very crazy like you have the money to pay your debt.
She has 130k GROSS income. After taxes, its like 90k. 90k in California is poverty. That's the problem.
@@JK20239 Then move.. simple. Outside of California and NYC, the average income is 50k a year.
Josh well, 90k net for a single mom is not poverty level tbh. It is her choices that make things awful.
Once you make above $100k a year you think of your income in terms of net because gross income is a worthless number due to taxes.
@@ChrisMFlorida I make $80k & live in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan. She's definitely living way above her means.

Wow how do you struggle with 4k coming in every 2 weeks?.
its those employers getting ripped off plus she's in CA so her salary is a bit inflated
Roj Blake crazy!
Living in California is rough 🤦♂️ we were in San Diego for 2 years for the military and we had nights where we would eat rice and hot sauce and sleep on the floor because we didn’t want to use the ac. But man, feels like 140 should cover it 🤷♂️
When you spend 5k every two weeks.
Being a woman.
I nearly choked on my chicken fried rice when she said AFFAIR 😂😂😂
SAME here.
Dave's like, " There's no way I'd ever have an affair with someone who's so financially irresponsible!!" 😀
Their income is not $130,000/year. It is $88,000/year and that is what their budget needs to be to avoid this kind of problem as they need to see if they can find affordable housing in this terrible housing situation in California.
I bet she lives in a million dollar home in California. She said she had a 30k car. She doesn't live below her means.
A true example of why more money will not solve the poor’s money problems
4000$ every 2 weeks and can't find a way to live?
Move out of California. It’s too expensive.
That would be $4000
To be fair, she lives in San Diego. It's not a cheap city to live in.
Yolanda has some undisclosed expenses causing her to dip into the emergency fund while Dave is feeling better than he deserves.

Newtttton so she’s hustling backwards ?? No she’s stupid ... I don’t care if she makes 10 figures she still stupid and have poor money management
Tax seems about right? 3.5k biweekly translates to 91k annually which is about 70% of her 130k gross. The 30% would go to her taxes and bunch of other deductions (health, etc).
What math are y’all doing, 3.5k biweekly is 7k a month x 12 months is 84k annually at 15% for taxes that’s about 71,400 which almost about 5,950 a month
she really didn't want to tell him where she was spending her money and how much she was spending. I think she has some habits

spamman916 WOW, you did those numbers like a real Pro!
They're correct in San Diego, too. Dave is wrong.
Did she say it's like she's having an affair?? 😂😂😂.. Bad example ma'am
Singing in my Tupac voice, “California knows how to party”
Dave's face when she said "affair with him" priceless 😂😂😇
Tony Peters 😆 I was like who says this...
If you run her income through a calculator she's making exactly what she should be in california. 10% goes to state taxes on top of federal
that is utterly horrifying
That's kind of a moot point anyway. The conclusion to her confusion is that she is not budgeting correctly and not living by her budget. Dave was great to refer her to a counselor to make sense of it.
Something smells off with this one.
She hugged aerosol cans until all her brain cells left.
And she can't make up her mind whether or not she's out of money or where or how. She's clearly NOT doing a real budget.
Wow, it took her awhile to list all her debts 😮
Sounds to me like she bought more house than she could afford on one wage and her mortgage is killing her
It is so disgusting how much money our Government TAKES from us and the worse part is we dont even see the other 12% that the employer pays on top of our GROSS before tax income. TRULY A DISGRACE we could all be very wealthy if the Government got out of our lives!!!
C Hecky if poor people had to pay federal income tax, things in Washington DC would change rather quickly.....
That 12% that your employer pays in taxes is the FICA tax which is your future social security check. It's like a forced retirement plan and you're 'bitchin' about that? You don't even know what your income tax dollars are used for. Yes there's lots of fraud and inefficiency but there's also a lot of benefits for you personally like roads and first responders and public schools etc etc. It is truly a DISGRACE to listen to selfish people who don't think they should have to contribute to public services! Go live in a hut in Alaska if you hate your life so much.
The one thing that really gets me is Dave seems to be out to lunch sometimes when it comes to take home pay. When they were talking about take home pay for 130k annual income, I already knew it was around 7500 a month based on a 30% tax rate which comes to ~$3800 biweekly (130000 x 0.70, divided by 12, divided by 2 roughly estimating), so essentially close to what she said. I don't understand how a guy like Dave finds that hard to believe. Guess that's a first world problem when you amass too much wealth, you forget how to do simple math. It's probably also why he tends to underestimate the amount of time it takes for people to get out of debt.
Yeah...Dave has a gap here. I live in a much cheaper state (tax wise) than this woman, and I make the exact same salary. Even if I weren't contributing to my 401K, with claiming 0 during the year, the bring home is NOT 3800 per check. She may also be having insurance deducted, and if she's covering her child, that's another hundred or so. Either way....she was so flustered, I highly doubt she knows where all her take home is going.
Why Dave acting like he don’t know Yolanda??💀💀💀
Dave is wrong on take home pay in CA. I am in orange county and 68% take home sounds right in CA for over 100K
James Graham 100% agree. It’s ridiculous
First Get rid of the car! I live in California . Gas is high, state taxes are high. San Diego is expensive she probably has a high rent or mortgage. Also our healthcare is more here too.
She listens to Dave without listening. Definitely, not following the Dave Ramsey plan. 21k car loan debt? Get rid of that alome and have a few extra hundred dollars per month!
Partying, eating out,Cars, credit payments and the huge one is vacations! Ive spoken to people that are flat broke negative broke way past that and booking a vacation because there stressed out. Im thinking how about you use that money to pay your debt but then theyll say im crazy and you only live once is the usual response🙄...
"I get paid bi-weekly" is the new excuse for being financially stupid. LOL. I'm going to use that excuse to get out of every situation from now on. Late for work and boss wants to know why? "I get paid bi-weekly."
I love his face, "We're having an affair"....umm NO hahahaha. Female caller needs a budget. Give me her salary. I'll be out of debt in 2 years.
not with her bills
i bet her mortgage and school loans and car payment makes up 75% of her take home pay
I like when Dave doesn't bother to write the numbers down because he can already tell from debt to income ratio its just not that tight on the budget end. There's a big "leak" somewhere.
Dave needs to seriously re-learn the tax codes. He lives in the old days.
$40,000 tax bill is because of California state income tax. $32,000 is federal and other tax shenanigans we pay. $8,000 is for the state.
wondering what san diego city tax is
Matthew Delsignore about 9% that is above federal and state taxes. So about 34% disappears before paying housing that is anywhere from 25% and up. That leaves 41% for food, gas, electric, phone, TV and car which doesn't leave much for entertainment and savings.
I didn’t get how she got a tax refund if she owed taxes for 2017. Thought they’d keep whatever was needed to pay for 2017.
lovethemflowers that part was definitely unbelievable...you’re not getting a refund if you still owe from a previous tax year
I'm surprised Dave didn't mention the fact that she's still in debt but has a fully funded emergency fund. She's doing the baby steps out of order.
she never said she had more than 1000$
1000
Cost of living is just too high! Take it easy on her Dave!
help this woman, she really seems to be in trouble. poor soul
My sister can NOT live on 5 incomes !!!!
She has been like this for 5 years.
There is no hope for her.
Sun Set my mom is the same... always biting off more than they can chew based on their current situation not the future...
sell the car. stop going out to eat! no reason w that income to not pay it all off
DID SHE SAY WE ARE HAVING AN AFFAIR 😩😩😩
What does she do for a living bringing home $3600 every 2 weeks?
😭😂😂 he wanted to bust out laughing when she said they're having an affair. Poor lady I hope she gets some guidance, at least she's trying
What a story! Sorry. I just get the feeling she either left things out or there's something she's not telling him? Maybe helping to suppose a deadbeat boyfriend? Addiction issues she didnt mention to him? Mr. Ramsey seemed to not believe it either. He's done this enough to know she's not being truthful. God Bless this poor Dear. She seems so confused and unable to follow along with the conversation. Bless her Jesus please? " It's like we are having an affair!" Who feels like that and says that?
Can't even work out how much money she is earning no wonder she is in debt.
Exactly
130K In the state of California is like probably 35 to 40 k in Mississhitty. Cost of living in CA is ridiculous versus the income for most jobs.
I agree. I think it’s a beautiful state but the fact is you can live so many other places for so much less.
You need at least 500k in the bay area. 130k is borderline poverty..
You have no idea what you're talking about lol
@@nuggyfresh6430 Actually I do kid. I LIVE in mississhitty and I've had two different friends who have lived in CA for more than 15 years straight. We both have done the math...Move on. I'm not your therapist.
Mississippi is a decent place to live. I'd live there over California any day.
My gross pay is $140k... after taxes and deductions my take home is ~$70k ... I’m single and get raked over the coals in taxes! So Yolanda’s story is accurate.
She on $130.000 but spending $200.000 and how do you get a mortgage with that level of debt!!!!!!
Dave you’re dead wrong… 135k Gross bi weekly is about 3500 every two weeks Net after taxes…. Now she may have other contributions which is why it’s down to 3400 maybe job union fee, Pension , 401k …. I’ve noticed that in some of the videos but the people don’t use the key words ‘Gross and Net’…
No way you have 90K after tax in california with 13% state tax plus insanely high federal tax. She'd have maybe 75-80K max left over after 130K
@@trustthe_process4371 San Jose was recently ranked as most expensive place to build in the world. Yes, beating out even Singapore and Hong Kong. Most expensive place to build anything on planet earth. The city officials wear that title proud like a badge of honor.

You can never ever out earn stupidity with money.
Somethins not right here
"Where did you run out of money?"
"Well, I have my emergency fund."
Later
"Well, I didn't run out yet."
It's called a budget!!!! DUH.
When they just say “ I have credit card debt” but don’t say what they charged, that is a pet peeve of mine. Did they charge medical bill balances or a $1,000 designer purse? I’d think Dave would want to know if she’s charging needs or wants
what a disaster of a call
she didnt mention what her expenses were... probably paying half of her income for a mortgage
I think Dave has been wealthy for so long that he has lost touch with how many taxes and insurances come out of a paycheck. I literally take home approximately 1/2 of my pay (net) after fed tax, state tax, OASDI, Medicare, retirement pension, health ins, life ins for me and family, vision ins, dental ins. My wife and I about break even at tax time between state and fed taxes. Granted, I put in my max of about $19,00 per year in 401K, but I take home 1/2 of gross pay. I think Dave is looking at just federal taxes and forgetting about all of the taxes and insurances.
I do agree with D Ramsey about 90% of the time, which is a lot. I have noticed this pattern on paychecks though.
She doesn’t understand the premise of a budget. Oh LORD!! As I’m typing I am listening, she brings home $3400 every two weeks and she gets child support??? I would kill to make $130k per year.....I’m struggling with $75k here in the same state she’s in.
Wow! Just imagine the problem she has if she was making $100,000.
The head of a custodial team at a school makes not much less than that in her city. She really doesn't make all that much considering where she lives.
If I made 130k a year I'll make history..
When she ran out of checks she ran out of money! Dave, didn't you know?
Probably her student loan payments and mortgage that’s eating up her paychecks
$130K household income with a $170K household debt including a $109K student loan debt in 2019, LORD JESUS, LOL!!!😂😂😂😂😂
u would b shocked at the % of people living in cali and new york in her situation
Thats what happens in CA people making over 100k and can’t pay bills
Make it make sense, Yolanda!!!
Is like we’re having an affair 😂😂😂😂

This is so confusing. 😆
None of her numbers added up.
When something sounds this confuscated when coming out of a person's mouth - it's because they don't even *know* or *understand* the numbers.
This woman needs to sit down and do a bloody budget! - Sounds like she's just throwing money to the wind as the whims hit her.
Her stated take-home is exactly right for San Diego.

I know.. you posted the math a thousand times ... but her overall numbers in terms of output vs. input do not add up.
Problem here is she has no idea of output.
She is not budgeting.
$88k take home on $130k with $4k tax return seems about right for California if she’s making 401k repayments. 20% effective federal, and 20% more for the others including social security, Medicare, work comp and disability and California state income tax. She probably has a few dollars paid out for benefits like health insurance, dental, vision, HSA and other misc.

Translation he calculated the taxes with the numbers she gave him you all are taking her word for what she says she makes and calculating those. He’s like where’s the $130,000 lady you all didn’t crunch her numbers. He’s like okay everyone knows you would have to bring in almost $11,000 a month to make $130,000 before taxes her calculations were a little over $8,000 there’s about an extra $3000 a month swinging in the wind 🤷🏽♂️
The breathing
Once again, I point out how for some reason Dave’s tax assumptions are off. A single woman making $130k a year in Los Angeles with 2 kids brings home $88k.. just go on the smart asset tax calculator and look for yourself.. for some reason he always assumes people don’t get taxed what they do lol

I'm glad she didn't go on to talk about that giant poster of Dave in her bedroom. The Mrs would make a sudden appearance real fast lol 😂
Good luck to her though I hope it works out she sounds nice and definitely stressed.
Send me half and I will management it right into my bank account and be happy.
I find it hard to believe she's only getting $4000 back in taxes. I make minimum wage and get back $1500.
